Great experience at Ohana Sushi in the Reno/Sparks area. The sushi was solid across the board. Portions were just right, not oversized, not skimpy, which I really appreciate. Everything tasted good and well balanced. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, even though the place was busy. The ambiance is casual and lively, the kind of spot that feels comfortable whether you're grabbing a quick bite or hanging out a bit longer. It had a nice buzz to it without feeling too chaotic. Overall, a reliable sushi spot with good food, good service, and a great vibe. Definitely somewhere I'd come back to and recommend to others.

Haven't been here in a long time and very glad we came on this Saturday. For how busy it was when we walked up, we were sat down pretty quickly. Total sushi flare at this place! Ordered a bunch of nigiri and some mussles then a couple long rolls from the menu that are in the pics. After that, Donovan (chef) hooked me up with chef special long and hand rolls. Not sure exactly what was in them but they were amazing! I told him I wanted chef special with lemon and spicy and he did exactly that. Love the vibe in this joint! Don't sleep on this one folks!

First time here... every roll we ordered was delicious! Restaurant is cute and cheery. Staff is friendly. Service was a little slow but it was lunch time so it was expected. New favorite sushi place!

Super yummy, everything was very good. The rolls, the service, the restaurant. Spacious even though it was a packed house. It was 3:30 when we arrived and busy. We waited about 5 minutes for a seat, they are quick, yet we did not feel rushed. I had the miso soup, smoked Salmon nigiri, The Tornado, The Samurai, The Battle Born, and green tea ice cream, and some chocolate mocha (it had chocolate chips in it too, winning) Donovan was our sushi chef and he did a very thorough and expeditious job. Definitely a great spot with amazing rolls, fresh and clean.

Picked up take out for the first time - easy to call in an order and the rolls were so fresh! Had unique rolls you won't find at other sushi places. All the rolls we got were delicious, the Yakiton wasn't my favorite however. Great take out specials, good value for the money.

Now, this is STILL My go-to place for sushi. And I came here on Monday which was a holiday, because a couple other places that I wanted to try that I was closer to were closed. I mean, look at the number of check-ins at this place. I'm only giving three stars on this review, because for the first time, out of over a dozen visits, I had THE WORST SERVICE I have ever experienced it this place. We were super hungry, so we didn't want to wait for the bar, which I recommend always sitting at a bar area, no matter how long the wait is because typically service at a table just isn't the same. We were sat in the back, and had a server I've never seen before. Younger, dainty, petite gal with long black hair and lip and mouth piercings. We were sat down, and she took our drink order. Never brought us our dish of wasabi, ginger, and cucumber salad. She came back and give us our order sheets. Half of what I had ordered was not brought to the table. After our first wave of nigiri came, we had to ask a different server to get our ginger and soy sauce cups. After taking her sweet time, and pal'ing up with a couple other women at a different table, she finally comes back. Gives us some more order sheets. Drinks are low, no food in sight, and she galavants around the dining area, sometimes popping in the back to grab a bite. She finally makes her way back to our table, where we've been sitting with a completed order sheet for over 15 minutes. She picks it up, and instead of going straight to the kitchen, she goes and clears off a couple tables, goes and talks to a couple other people, goes and takes somebody else's order! Glad she finally found the time to submit our order sheet. 10 minutes past, and half of our order gets delivered to a different table! The kid was nice enough to ask us if it was ours and gave it to us. She asked me to order what my previous order was missing. I guess we got it, who knows. There's only one other waitress, and older woman in my first review, that I will actually let serve me at this place if I can't get a bar seat. If she's not there, then I probably won't even eat there that day. You guys got to do something with this girl, you guys got to do better. What a disappointment. For the first time ever, I didn't leave my typical 35% tip. Food was really good as usual. ***DISCLAIMER*** This pure, uncut, honest review is federally protected under Federal Law by way of Bill #EO14149. Ohana Sushi is always an easy choice to make because they're normally so busy; so, anytime we're in the neighborhood and they'd just opened, we'll try to head in there. Fortunately, during this visit, they had just opened for lunch service so our party of 4 was seated almost immediately. A few servers checked in with us and took our initial orders; as usual, all throughout our meal, the service was exceptionally attentive. The food arrived at our table quickly; everything tasted great-- well-seasoned and expertly prepared with generous, sharable portions. Our dining experience at Ohana Sushi has always been positive and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

Sushi date for lunch! It was long overdue and we hadn't been in here for quite sometime. Our server mentioned he hadn't seen us in awhile. I'm not sure if there are newer sushi chefs, but we were disappointed because we were craving it. Luckily our servers took great care of us. Everything else was lacking. Our sushi was over sauced and took away from our raw fish. I think we enjoyed the appetizers and our few cooked long rolls over our raw options. I think the avocado used was over ripe and just mushy. It was super disappointing, my Philly handrolls were mostly rice, no cream cheese and 4 bites of salmon. I'm not sure what's going on with this place and quality of their sushi. Perhaps a change in kitchen staff?! We were bummed because it wasn't busy. Ohana used to be a family favorite.

Recently returned to Ohana and everything was great! We ordered the potstickers, edamame, seaweed salad and 2 sushi rolls. Sushi is fresh and flavorful and potstickers were crispy and tasty. I was not a fan of the seaweed salad and won't order again. This restaurant is always busy but it's large enough that you never have a long wait. Definitely recommend

This was our first time here. We had been taking a break from AYCE, but today we went for the Lunch AYCE Sushi. It was busy, but still got seated right away. We started with a few appetizers; The Mussels and Yakiton. The Mussels were good, but not as hot as I would've liked. The Yakiton was piping hot, but very tasty once it cooled down a bit. I ordered 3 Long Rolls; The Aloha, Rocky Mountain and the Arizona. I ordered these rolls from the Raw Sushi Menu, but there was still some kind of Tempura inside, which I didn't necessarily want. Overall they were good, except for that one detail. I also had a Quail Egg and Unagi Nigiri and finished off with my favorite, Green Tea Ice Cream. As I prevously mentioned, the place was bustling. Luckily, there were alot of employees tending to Customers both inside and outside. We recieved great service and never waited very long for anything. It was a little loud though, but that also didn't bother me. We had a great time!

Came back for some amazing sushi rolls, quail egg shooters(Alaskan Style) and top notch sashimi. Seated within minutes, always a friendly atmosphere and Melanie provided some amazing customer service, once again. Ordered the 5X Donald duck salmon appetizer(order them spicy)and a 5X Mickey Mouse appetizer(Red Tuna) to start. I could sit and eat just those 2 all day. YUM! Ordered a Rocky Mount Roll, Milky Way Roll, salmon and red tuna. And Several quail egg shooters made custom (Alaskan Style) with 1/2" of salmon roe on bottom of each shot glass. Everything had amazing flavors and Melanie was a fantastic waitress, constantly taking care of any needs. Be back again soon, when passing through!

Really liked the rolls here- well made and well executed. Not as fast as some other sushi places in town, but they were/ are probably one of the busiest! Knowing this I would think the service would be a little better however our server didn't know the menu that well, and brought us out the wrong appetizers- we ordered gyoza and she tried to put mussels down on the table- even though my partner has a shellfish allergy (which was mentioned) this is the second time something like that has happened at a sushi restaurant in the last few months and I again want to express to restaurant staff- be more careful. Great to see the place so busy, it is definitely because of the quality of the food- I would have given less stars for service but the rolls are that good!

Unfortunately, our experience today was not a good one. The service started off friendly, but things quickly changed when we mentioned that we didn't like one of the rolls (wasn't even edible). We were doing the all-you-can-eat option (and paying dinner pricing during lunchtime for the rolls we selected), so we were surprised by how the situation was handled. Instead of working with us, we were told they couldn't take the roll back because they would "lose money," and that we would be charged extra for it if they were to replace the roll. That response felt frustrating and unnecessary, especially given the circumstances. I get times are hard with money/ prices but where is the customer service in a response like that??? Not to mention the food didn't seem fresh all around; muscles were tough and rubbery. Praying I don't get sick. We ended up paying over $70 for very little food since we left without finishing, which made it even more disappointing. We understand businesses have policies, but the way this was handled didn't feel customer-focused at all. Customer service is HUGE!! Sadly, this experience has made us reconsider coming back. It's been about 4 years since the last time, I tried the food here and since I was hosting about 10 people at my home, I wanted to serve something simple and cost effective. My goto for this is Chinese food. I ordered chicken chow mein and stir fried mixed vegetables. It came in two trays and enough from probably closer to 15 people. So portions were good but the total bill was between $120-$130 about what I've come to expect here in Reno. Let's just say, I've traveled to several countries in Asia and lived most of my life in Northern CA eating quite a bit of Chinese food. This doesn't make my an expert but it would be fair to say, I am quite familiar with what is considered mainstream traditional Chinese cooking. But let's get to the food, with the caveat that I realize that everyone's preferences can vary widely when it comes to food. So my opinion is based on what one would find in Hong Kong and San Francisco. The chicken chow mein had all the correct ingredients, long noodles that were slightly thicker than say spaghetti, had the correct amount of softness without being mushy. Chicken was presented in slices and appeared to be white meat, there was some white onions thrown in there for some texture and flavor. Normally when I order chow mein, it isn't served with a brown "gravy". Not that this dish was swimming in it, but think of spaghetti with tomato sauce. Replace the red with medium dark brown and you get the picture. Now my guests who are Reno locals, thought it was great and flavorful. I would agree with the flavor part but it was much too saucy for my tastes. Would I try Chin Chin again for noodles? I'm not sure but the owner did state, they can make dishes any way I like, so perhaps I'll order off menu next time. The stir fried mixed vegetables is where I was most disappointed. Let's start with the ingredients. All were sliced in 2-3 inch pieces, which included button mushrooms, zuchinni, bamboo shoots, brocolli, carrots, and onions. This dish could have passed for a savory vegetable stew. There was a lot of gravy, so much so, that it colored all the vegetables brown, except for the carrots. The sauce had a slight "twang" to it, almost vinegar or worchester-like. Not my thing, I could not taste the individual flavors of the vegetables because of how heavy the sauce was. The brocolli was over cooked where the flowerette parts were pale. I prefer my vegetables to be just cooked, almost snappy. I would not order this dish again. No comments on the restaurant itself as both times I tried it, was for take out. So bottomline, would I try Chin Chin again? Yes but I will be very specific on how I would like my order prepared. Maybe for their lunch special.
