    Miso Spicy Ramen

I'm glad to find a ramen place nearer to our house! My husband loved it and wants to go back - Haru still has my heart but they are always closed when I want ramen The waitress was very attentive (almost too attentive since we were the only ones there at first) But she was meticulous and brought an extra bowl and utensils for my kid. Food came quickly and was pretty good, ramen egg was cooked correctly :) They tried to make the place look more authentic with the red and the lanterns and had some cool Reno murals on the wall too. We will be back to try more options - I was eyeing the tonkotsu ramen but we settled on the miso

Very friendly staff and quick service. All our food items were so tasty and everything tasted very fresh. Great Ramen place in sparks and we'll definitely be back!

We ordered to go and everything was delicious. We got the chicken shoyu ramen, garlic edamame, pot stickers, and sausage. The ramen was delicious and full of flavor. Good amount of noodles too. Quick service and very friendly. Looking forward to heating here to experience the vibe.

What a cute hidden gem! I had no idea this place existed. A small, intimate setting. They serve ramen and poke as well as other appetizers and some desserts. Service was quick! We started with the tempura shrimp that was served with sweet chili sauce. So crispy and yummy. I opted for the tonkatsu. The chashu was cooked perfectly and I added shiitake mushrooms for $2 more! The broth was a little bland in my opinion. I ended up added chili oil and some other toppings to it but it was still good. We also tried the Shoyu Black Garlic. Now that broth was flavorful and rich! Overall great experience. I'd love to come back and try their poke

I ordered a number 4. The Black Garlic, chicken broth base with chicken and some fried chicken wings. It was not very flavorful, it definitely tasted like black garlic but it didn't have the chicken broth base I was looking for or any other kind of spice. The same goes for the deep fried chicken wings. I was trying to request something spicy to put some flavor into my soup but our server did not come until the chicken wings were ready for drop off and the only spicy they had was saracha . She didn't check up on us at all other than that.

first time here plaza can get packed with limited parking this is a restaurant with ramen plus poke tried the poke, but this is more of a ramen place than poke poke was not fresh, the brown rice was stale and hard cold, 3 scoops were tiny and were not generous, especially the salmon, only had 5 small pieces. I had 5 sauces, but still lacked flavor, and was super plain. I don't recommend this spot and it almost cost $20 for a plain poke bowl. protein servings were not generous bland taste

79 Ramen & Poke Bar in Sparks is a really cool restaurant. A large menu, clean restaurant and fast service. Manager Shadow, took our order of Ramen, A poke and Salmon Bowl and Ahi Tuna Tacos. My favorite was the poke bowl with so many food items you can put in as part of the Poke bowl. My daughter's favorite was the hot and yummy Ramen with a miso base and perfect eggs. I thought his was a Five Star Ramen & Poke dining experience. I think you should check them out. On the corner of Sparks Blvd and Prater. Fantastic! Julie A

    Vegetarian tofu ramen

I work near this location and have gotten take out two times from here so far. I'm vegetarian and so I was excited to see they had a vegetarian ramen option. It's easy to find and the parking was easy during weekday lunch at least. The interior is pretty standard, there are a decent amount of tables to sit at, nothing overly fancy but it looked new and clean. The first time I got the tofu ramen I was a little concerned the portion would not be enough because it seemed rather small, but by the time I was done eating I was appropriately full so the takeout portion ended up being good after all. One thing I did notice right away was the quality of the noodles is very good compared to the place I go in South Reno near where I live. The broth and tofu are always tasty as well. The only negative I've experienced is I usually get a thai ice tea to go with my ramen, and one of the times the half and half that was used looked separated and there were chunks floating in the tea. I did not have that issue with the thai tea the other time though. Aside from the half and half issue the tea does taste good, not overly sweet. Good lunch spot for takeout!

Tonkatsu ramen with extra pork belly
    Trina P.

I ordered takoyaki and tonkatsu ramen with extra pork belly. The takoyaki was delicious, but the ramen left something to be desired. The ramen featured bamboo, egg, fish cakes, pork belly, and a lot of noodles. I got sick of the noodle portion because there wasn't much substance of anything else. On the menu, extra pork belly was listed at 50¢ so imagine my surprise when the receipt listed it for $4. I'm pretty sure it's 50¢ per pork belly slice. I didn't have much interaction with the workers, but they were nice when they took my order and check.

You know when you see a place for the first time and check out their menu and you're positive it's going to be great but then you get disappointed upon arrival? This was the opposite; the place where all your hopeful expectations are actually met. My co worker and I came for lunch on a whim, ordered the harumaki and wontons to start, then the coco curry and choose your own poke bowl. It was all so delicious and the service on point. Clean, casual restaurant with a relaxed ambiance. GREAT food! Fresh veggies fresh fish and that coco curry ramen was TDF! It's on the regular have-to-have lunch break rotation now, which is a very short list!

Panang Curry Ramen ( New ) Garlic Edamame Tan Tan Noodle (brothless)

Wow! Decided to stop by and give this place a try! It was empty when we walked in, when I don't think it should be. The food was amazing, I got the Tan Tan Noodles, and Garlic Edamame, my man got the Panang Curry. Beautiful presentation, great service. Left no crumbs! Been back twice since our initial date!

    Tonkatsu ramen with spicy sauce

I really don't like commenting negatively on small Asian-owned businesses, but unfortunately, 79 Ramen and Poke Bar wasn't one to RAMEN-ber. We tried their salmon poke tacos, which contained very fresh, sashimi grade salmon, but were drenched in an overwhelming soy sauce/teriyaki sauce that was too salty. We also ordered the spicy miso ramen and tonkatsu ramen, which were both bland and average when it came to broth taste. The service was very nice and attentive for such a casual spot, but unfortunately, the food quality leaves much to be desired and would not be a place I'd visit again.

    Takoyaki
    Elvia D.

I genuinely wanted to like this place, but the food was dull for the high price point. I was a given a warm welcome when entering and quickly put in my order. The takoyaki was okay, but a bit on the undercooked side. My ramen was nothing special too. The broth lacked the extra flavor I look for in ramen, the noodles were too firm and toppings overcooked. I wouldn't say this is the best/worst ramen I've ever had, it's just average. The owner and workers were very polite and is a reflection in my final rating. But, for an avid ramen lover; it's unlikely I'll be visiting to try the food again.

Firstly, I love the ambiance here. It is a relatively small space, with just a few tables and some bar spaces, so fairly intimate yet casual. Tucked back on west Fifth Street, it kind of feels like a little gem in this section of town. Also, the service here was like so beyond friendly and prompt. Major props go out to the owner and her staff for doign such bang-up work! And the price point for everything is really reasonable for the ramen bowls, and alright for appetizers. But enough about all that, let's delve into the food! My party and I snagged a couple large sapporos and some hot sake, and began the meal with some appetizers. The potstickers were yummy and the takoyaki were excellent. After that, we all got our assorted ramen selections. One of my friend liked the Shiro Ramen, andother went with Spicy and said it was great. But I went with the Miso Ramen, and it was simply outstanding. Delicious, full flavor, and served not so extra hot as I've experienced other places. Had to get a couple extra of those marinated soft boiled eggs, too, as I just love them! All told, I think this spot should be on anyone's radar for exceptional ramen in Reno. Definitely the noodle house I think that's hit the most top notches on my list. For sure will be returning.

Parking is fairly easy, with plenty of street spaces nearby, and an easy walk if you're already hanging around the neighborhood. The service was friendly and fairly prompt, and even for a weekday night the place was bustling, leading to a bit of a backup. Cool vibes all around, and it's neat to sit at the bar and watch the chefs do their thing. Though it does mean this is a little bit on the noisy side. Look at the menu, and there are tons of tempting options. As the name suggests, their specialty here is small plate off the grill or out fo the fryer. But they do serve really good-looking ramen, too, which I will make not to try next time I swing by. I at first went with a quick bite of grilled chicken thighs, which were just amazing! They were juicy, eprfectly seared, with some grilled green onions and an amazing sweet soy sauce. I also went with the yakionigiri, which are balls of rice that are grilled, brushed with sauce, and topped with a sort of mango slaw. A bit uncommon, but wow, these were also just so delicious! Also had a glass of sake, though they have a full bar should you want some other sort of beverage. Prices here are, I feel, a little on the higher end for small plates. However, I think it is definitely worth coming and trying this place out at least once or twice, just to expereince some of the good food. I'm sorry it took me so long to finally step through the doors, but I am certain I will be back again to try more of what's on the menu.
