I have loved coming to Poke King ever since it first opened two years ago! I can't believe how long they've been here. And during that time their wonderful service and pricing has stayed pretty much the same! All the food they have here is very good, and if you are ever overwhelmed with all the options the staff is usually very kind and helpful in helping you pick out whatever you need. There is also a points system where you enter your phone number and earn points to get a deal once you order a certain number of times. I personally always get the salmon, tuna and yellowtail, and usually if I get a large at lunch time, and save it in my refrigerator, I have another large portion of that for dinner! First of all, the staff here is great. They were very friendly and enthusiastic. Second, the amount of food was ridiculous! I considered getting a large, but the regular was such a big portion, I'm glad I didn't. The three scoops of fish were BIG and they didn't question when I asked for all of the toppings (I wanted to try everything...). Everything was fresh, including the fruit options (pineapple and mango). The sauce variety is great, I loved the yuzu. Well, we've been eating from here for the last 3 or 4 years at least and not much has changed except for the increase in price and decrease in portions. It used to be a good value but these days it's just not that great. Everytime I go in they are out of at least 1 or 2 things right in the middle of a dinner rush (between 5 and 7). This time it was green onion and Mango Habanero sauce which isn't as bad as the usual outages actually. Usually it's hamachi, or tuna, or one of the main types of fish that one would want. Aside from these issues, it's just a wonder that people don't get sick more often when you consider that the temperature combinations of the food are pretty much a highway to the danger zone. Warm rice plus cold, raw, fish equals a temperature above 40 but below 140 probably. I'm not 100% sure on this and I've never actually temped anything but everytime I eat here it's always a concern in the back of my mind. Hot plus cold equals warm and warm but not hot enough and cold but not cold enough equals danger zone and foodborne illness. Just sayin. Only had diarreah a time or two in the 30+ times we've eaten here over the last 4 years so not that bad of a track record overall. So, yeah. It's just not that great. Smaller portions, bigger prices, and temps that could make you sick. It doesn't make me want to roll the dice here that much more at all. Honestly, this is my go-to place to satisfy my seafood cravings without having to go get sushi! It's always so quick even if there's a line! (In and out at most 10-15 min!). They still aren't doing any dine-ins at this moment but the food carries very well! I usually get a mix of proteins ranging from tuna to scallops mixed with the unagi sauce and IT. IS. DELICIOUS! You can pick any toppings you want, I usually get mango, seaweed salad and their crab salad (which is not considered a protein so you can get about as much as you want with no extra charge)! All-in-all this is a great place that serves you a quick and easy carry out meal that fills you up while continuing to be delicious and filling! They are able to combine two or three sauces based on the flavor profile you like between sweet, spicy, etc and help you make your bowl even better. You can grab soda, beer or even just enjoy the free jug of water in there to go along with the bowl of your choice. When he delivered our food and we told him that part of it was missing, he offered to go back on his own time. I was recommended Poke King (PK) by a co-worker and I was working close by, there are few options but I chose PK based on everything he told me. I went in, no one was in there, an employee then greeted if I wanted regular or large, I early identified myself as a new client, after she asked which scoops I wanted, I figured out 3 of the 4, being, salmon, tuna, spicy tuna, and I couldn't identify, was Yellow Tail (YT). I thought I found a new spot, as Pokespot I work next to, doesn't have YT. This is where the failure happened, and I am not sure what I was supposed to do, as I was SHOCKED, and will not be returning. I quickly asked for a scoop of Salmon and YT, and the young lady said and your 3rd scoop and I said both Salmon and YT, thinking she would understand half and half, she didn't so, I had to point that I meant half scoop of each for my final scoop, she then took 1 piece of each fish from Salmon and YT to finish my 3rd scoop, in FULL VIEW of ME! Really, that's all that's left to say, as to me it was the most disrespectful act that could be done, besides spitting into my food, can you imagine ordering a burrito or pizza having someone just blatantly in YOUR FACE short YOU on PURPOSE, knowing that you know, and it's 1000% obvious? I thought the fish was okay, I wouldn't have given them a $2 tip and likely this review would be 4 stars, although it fish quality was really 3, just because they offered yellowtail. The fish and sauces tasted really fresh, the smiling folks at the counter were friendly and thanked us for waiting. They mix your bowl in front of you and add the toppingsb of your choice. Lots of choices mean nearly infinite options for bowls! The prices are affordable, the service was prompt and friendly, and they offer a loyalty program, BONUS! It was a Saturday dinner rush, but the only reason for -1 star was that pretty much every table was covered in mess. Even on busy nights, I think tables should be bussed and wiped down. My husband and I are poke fans and looked forward to grabbing lunch here today. Many others have described how you order, the difference in size, etc. so I'll just say we ordered a large to split which includes 5 (small) scoops of protein. We decided on salmon, yellowtail, shrimp and two tuna mixed with sesame shoyu. They also offer octopus (cooked), scallops and tofu. We had white rice as our base and went crazy with the toppings! Are you ready for this? Sweet onion, green onion, masago (capelin roe), tobiko (flying fish roe), jalapeno, cucumber, edamame, seaweed salad, krab salad, wasabi, fresh ginger, sesame seeds, fried garlic, fried shallots and furikake (Japanese seasoning) - everything but the avocado and pineapple! With tax, the cost of the large is just over $15 - but that is on par with what we paid for our favorite poke places in Southern California. And we split it! Plenty for a yummy lunch that is not overly filling. The staff is super helpful and friendly! At checkout, we were asked if we wanted to join their rewards program. Why not? Regarding the food, the "protein" was fresh, and the options of sauces and toppings were plenty. I really enjoyed the regular-sized bowl I got with a mix of won ton chips and white rice topped with two scoops of yellowtail and one scoop of tuna. I chose the sesame ponzu sauce, seaweed salad, tobiko and ginger to compliment my bowl. The seating arrangement could use some adjustment. There are two wooden benches and a small counter. Luckily they did have some outdoor seating but once the weather changes again that'll eliminate that option. Instead of the large benches they should have put in 6 two-top tables.
