Really cool place with delicious pizza. People here at really nice. The beers are cold!! Kind of an old fashion type of place with neat little artifacts of days gone by in this nice little town of Kalama. The bartender here is really nice and you can tell she is a super nice lady. I got the supreme style of pizza here. If you ask they will even give you some free red or green peppers on your pizza. The crust was kind of hard and crispy so when you grabbed your slice of pizza it did not like bend over. If it did you would lose all the small chucks of sausage. I lost a couple small chunks of sausage too as they are on top of the cheese and roll right off. Later on I even saw an older lady losing her chunks of sausage off her pizza falling into her loo and on the floor lol. I got the small pizza. My buddy and I had 3 pieces each. I gave the other two pieces to another friend of mine. Can't wait to come back again. Oh and the $2.00 Ecliptic Stardust cans of beers were not a bad deal either. read more

The most expensive pizza I've ever ordered. 30 dollars for a cheese pizza. I got a special 3 topping pizza for 25. Which I guess wouldn't be bad except they used CANNED MUSHROOMS. Absurd. If you are about to charge 30 dollars per pizza you either need to use real mushrooms or at minimum tell your customers you are about to use canned mushrooms. Also its 1.50 per ranch. read more

The bartender is horrible. Needs work on her customer service skills. I'm new town and never felt out of place. I'm in the industry and someone like that would be fired eventually. If your the owner of this establishment I'd think hard about replacing this person. Out with the old in with the new. I witnessed a real uncomfortable situation probably not the first. Genuinely some of the worst pizza you can find. Dough is dry as carboard, ingredients are straight from the can, and it doesn't really taste like anything. It's very expensive for what it is. Your money would be better spent driving down the road to Costco and getting three decent pies for the price of one painfully bland one here. A curly haired bigger lady took my beer in front of me and said I was swaying and too inebriated and would cost her job if a higher upper came in. The bar was full and my dad had the last seat in the bar on the right side of the bar closer to the front door. I stood next to him and talked to only him and had a beer. I am a 26 year old that has had brain surgery 9 months ago that failed and I still have seizures everyday and can't ever reach the goals I wish I could. I am slowly down falling with my health and I can't control it but I try to enjoy my life because I'm still alive. You either order it in the pizza parlor and have it delivered over to Poker Pete's Tavern or you can just sit at the table and Poker Pete's Tavern and order your beer and a pizza too. All the bartenders are fantastic. Doing an amazing job there's times when there's 75 people in there Playing pool celebrating a birthday meeting after work for a couple of beers and a pizza. It's all fantastic and there's big screen TVs with several different sports events on to keep track. Your favorite team air conditioning works great. The camaraderie is wonderful. Everybody's nice and polite. A cozy place to go. What do you just want a beer after work meet several people to celebrate something. It's all good. You're gonna have a big party. If I could, I would give it 4.5 star, but I can't so I rounded up because they deserve it! Wonderful pizza :) Is this the best pizza I've ever had? No. BUT... it is darn good, fully loaded, crispy thin crust on a not-so-thin pizza. They do use canned mushrooms, which I prefer, so just keep that in mind if you are too good for them. I'm not sure about their service as we ordered pizza to go, 1/2 "Evan Strikes Gold" (aka Hawaiian); 1/2 "Rodeo". I was EXTREMELY disappointed before I even tried it when I noticed the mushrooms on the Rodeo half actually came out of a can and were not fresh. The texture of canned mushrooms grosses me out. I wasn't a fan of their sausage either. Then on the other (Hawaiian) half, I had bites that were like when you get a grain of dirt or sand in your food. I thought it otherwise tasted fine and it wasn't every bite that had that, but it's off putting when it feels like you have a grain of dirt or sand in your food. I'm not saying that is what it was, but it was a grain of something which made it unpleasant to eat. I will not rule out eating there again, as even restaurants can have days worse than others. I just know not to order the Rodeo or anything else that has mushrooms on it. read more

We were in town visiting family over the holidays. Kalama has very few choices of places to dine. We had been to all of them except for this place. We were hungry for pizza and didn't actually expect too much but we were pleasantly surprised. The pizza was great! They were having a special on their pepperoni pizza and that's what we had to try. We loved it. I also loved the fact that the pieces were cut in smaller pieces than most places. We will definitely be stopping at this place again and trying a few of their other pizzas. read more

I recently moved here and desperately wanted someone to deliver. Poker Pete's does not deliver. We ordered a salad and a medium pizza, we waited about 45 minutes (maybe a little longer?). It seemed like a really long time when you are hungry and still have to drive home with it. I did enter on the tavern side though, I'm not sure if the restaurant side was busy (but there weren't any cars parked out front). The salad was OK, made with shredded lettuce not chopped lettuce, odd. The pizza was really good, it was about $19 for a medium and had 3 different meats and mushrooms on it. The bar looked kind of cool, there were 2 pool tables and a few locals. I'll be back, the food was good but hopefully it won't take that long next time. read more

We love the pizza here. It's thin and crispy and the toppings go all the way to the edge, the last bit which is my favorite part! The service here is always super friendly and really quick. They never seems to be a lot of people eating in the restaurant. Most people are taking to go orders or are next-door at the bar, where you can also eat pizza. No free refills on the soda seemed a little stingy considering they weren't very large. This is our go to place for a sitdown meal when traveling between Olympia and Portland. read more

I have only two good things to say: it's nearby, and I've never gotten food poisoning eating their pizza. Anytime I've gone in to pick up a pizza, it's always smelled a bit odd in the place. The pizza, while not horrendous, is reminiscent to me of school cafeteria fare (before the age of letting Pizza Hut and Papa John's provide school lunches). The crust is rock hard and too thin, mushrooms are from a can, not fresh, they resemble slugs, and if I had to guess they are probably similar in taste. I went into this bar around December of 2014. It was a Saturday night and we ordered Pizza and some beer. It took forever to get the pizza and we ended up having to go to the bar for drinks. It did get very busy around 8:30-9:00 and it took so long to get our check my friend wanted to just leave. We didn't, and it took equally as long to pay. I thought I caught them on a bad night. I really didn't expect to like Poker Petes as much as I do! That's kind of a back handed compliment but the first time we stopped we had to grab something and I just couldn't eat another soggy salad or sandwich. So we thought what the heck and gave it a try. The crust is tasty and not thick or too thin. The sauce is spicy and delicious! The toppings are generous without being ridiculous. I fully recommend it. Plus the tavern side is kind of like walking into Cheers. Lots of local folks sitting around the counter bar giving each other lots of BS and joking around. Very homey. The pizza is fairly good, okay prices, the pops should be refillable, but over all we like the pizza here. Our past four pizzas have been really burnt though, I even asked them not to burn it when I ordered it, it was still very burnt.
