He took the time to explain the menu, what each item was, and even shared some of the history behind the food. That personal touch made the experience even better. Here's what we ordered: Chicken Shawarma -- 10/10 Hummus + extra pita -- 10/10 Baklava -- 10/10 Dolma -- Bassam kindly had us try some. My wife really enjoyed it! I'm a little picky, so it wasn't quite my flavor, but I can absolutely see why it's a favorite for many. Everything was fresh, flavorful, high quality, and reasonably priced, with good-sized portions. The food, service, and atmosphere all impressed us, and we'll definitely be back. It honestly saddens me when small businesses don't get the reviews and support they deserve. A simple review can mean so much, especially heading into the winter months. It was a little bit dry for me, but I do like a lot of sauce. Although the service wasn't rude or anything, I think it would help if the window person was a little more outgoing/friendly. A hello, telling me the total, and a thank you would be nicer. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and will try other things on the menu when we're in the area. They're especially famous for their distinctive burrito style: absolutely no rice, it takes away from the meat, just a simple flavorful filling, and the option to have the finished burrito made "Dorado style," where it's pressed on the flat-top until the tortilla gets golden, toasted, and crispy. That's the texture and flavor I was hoping for -- carne asada, refried beans, cheese, sour cream, pico de gallo, and that crispy grilled outside. This is the first spot that I've found to even be on the radar with back home quality. 1) they lightly toasted the the tortilla. 2) the meat was cut on the bias, thin, tender and full of flavor!! If they let it crisp up just a little more it would be next level. 3) they used real avocado slices not that nasty premade spread that has vinegar to preserve the color. Overall my burrito was delicious and it was filled great, equal beans/rice/meat ratio. Ps i ordered it without lettuce. I will absolutely be coming back to try tacos and other items. Review for salsas: I tried one of each (habanero, red and green). My favorite was the verde. It's the most flavorful. I usually like hot, hot, but won't compromise flavor. We opted for the seasonal fruit ones because summers coming to an end and didn't want to miss out. Pomegranate ginger sorbet was ahhhhmazinggg. The ginger was actually predominantly forward. We love ginger and are the type of weirdos for ask for lots of extra ginger at sushi spots. Second flavor was raspberry sorbet. So so so good and fresh. FYI there are seeds still in there, it's not strained so if it bothers you keep it in mind. Flavor was amazing and I gave a bite to my family's dog and she loved it too. Last one was mint chip. Can't go wrong with a classic. It was good but my least favorite. I'm still dreaming about the vanilla and want to pick up one pint for them to try. Definitely want to have a few vanilla in the freezer for entertaining. Maybe bake a pie and have the vanilla on deck. Definitely for the holidays!
