    Regular size poke bowl
    Chandra J.

Pokeworks, why have I been passing you all these months?!? Your food is so fresh and amazing! I was really wanting a lunch that was refreshing and uplifting after a very long day and you provided that! I went with building my own bowl because I am super indecisive! I got the regular bowl with salad and rice topped with shrimp and spicy salmon. Then I added ginger, seaweed, pineapple, wontons, and aoili and house sauces. Omg! So good! Every bite was just as good if not better than the last! I love that the rice was warm too! This is probably some of the best Poke I've ever had and I cannot wait to come back and get more! Go!

There was no one in there and yet, staff rushed us and acted like we were wasting their time. They were pretty pushy for it being utterly empty. Food is good though. Fish is fresh and soft. Sauces are delicious. They give you a pretty good portion size.

Food was great. The lady serving was either having a terrible day or just has a really bad attitude. Too bad.

Poke Bowl - Regular (2 Proteins)

I was honestly pleasantly surprised to find poke (!!) and fresh seafood in Durham, considering how inland it is from the Atlantic, but the bowls I tried here were definitely on par with what I've had in California. Definitely worth checking them out if you're craving poke or some fresh seafood! I decided to build my own bowl with 2 proteins- shrimp and spicy salmon on a bed of sushi rice, and I was so pleasantly surprised with how fresh the salmon and sushi rice were. They also have a variety of other ingredients that you can add on top, such as avocado, imitation crab, corn, crispy wonton strips, furikake, etc, as well as quite a selection of sauces such as gochujang, sriracha aioli, etc. Keep in mind that their spicy is ACTUALLY spicy, and this is coming from someone with an immensely high spice tolerance! My bowl also came with a drink and a choice of salad or miso soup, which I went with. The miso soup wasn't the most authentic, but it was definitely comforting and helped to balance out the spiciness of my poke bowl. Unfortunately, their local artisan drink machine was out of order when I visited, but they do have a decent selection of fountain drinks or canned/bottled drinks if you prefer.

We are all entitled to our own opinions, right? Well here's mine: Parking: 5 Location: 5 Decor/ambiance: 5 Customer Service: 5 I feel that Poke is still a new concept to many of us and if you haven't had the chance to indulge yet, check out these guys. We heard that these guys where the original poke burrito creators. They created a video of a poke burrito that went viral and Durham has NC's very first location! Yesterday we checked them out and where highly impressed! They have these amazing kale noodles that leave you feeling so full yet they are super healthy. We also grabbed an Hawaiian Classic Poke Burrito which was jam packed with Ahi Tuna! Everything was so fresh and tasty. Are you vegan, vegetarian, gluten free... they have options for you here! Their "build your own" option gives you 100s of combinations you can put together. Lastly - these guys have a dining room that is open and they are on all of the major delivery apps! *Tip- For you raw seafood lovers check out the Hawaiian Ahi and Spicy Ahi. They are both crowd pleasers. Don't care for raw? Check out the Ginger Chicken with Kale noodle ... it's so amazing!

    Flame-Cooked Miso Sesame Salmon Bowl
    Destiny H.

Charles prepared my Flame-Cooked Miso Sesame Salmon Bowl to perfection! This was my first time having Pokeworks and I am so pleased with my selection. The miso sesame sauce is scrumptious and ingredients in this bowl are so complimentary that even the pickiest eater would enjoy it. I added pickled ginger and wasabi to my bowl. I highly recommend the addition of those two ingredients for a kick of spice! I will happily return to try another bowl, very soon!

First timer... Being a native from the islands, I have finally discovered the spot to get my poke fix! Since relocating to NC, from Fuquay Varina to Durham, and if you're looking for the best poke bowl within this area, here's your place. The quantity is just right! You can add as much toppings as you prefer at no extra charge with the exception of the avocado. I was not a huge fan of the miso soup, but the poke bowl did not disappoint. I went big, ordered the 3-protein bowl option. The seaweed salad was delish! The restaurant had great decor and ambiance. This place has a relaxed, casual vibe in downtown Durham. It's very bright and open. It was clean and organized and the service was excellent. Don't forget to download the app for a $5.00 off coupon on your first visit. Highly recommend you give this place a try.

Really enjoyed my poke bowl here - it was probably the spiciest spicy tuna bowl I've ever eaten, but it was delicious! The spicy furikake had chili flakes in it :O

Parking couldn't have been easier. We found a space right out front in the lot off 9th Street and walked straight in. It was a quiet Thursday afternoon, so we were seated immediately. The dining room has an elegant, relaxed feel, and with only a few other diners it made for a peaceful lunch. Lunch for two came to about $80 plus tax and tip, making this one of the more upscale lunches we've had recently. We ordered: * Crispy Brussels Sprouts * Shrimp Dumplings (6) * Mongolian Beef * Grilled Lemongrass Hanger Steak Salad * Unsweetened iced tea The Food The Crispy Brussels Sprouts were a great start. They were crisp on the outside without being overcooked, and the mint, peanuts, and pickled onions added both texture and freshness. It was also a large enough portion for leftovers. The Shrimp Dumplings were excellent. The flavor was outstanding, and the Thai chili oil, garlic, scallions, and sesame worked beautifully together. My only criticism was the portion size. At six small dumplings, they felt a little pricey for what you receive. The Mongolian Beef was probably the best value of the meal. The beef had a nice sear while remaining tender inside, and the portion was generous enough that we had leftovers for another meal. It had a nice overall flavor as well. The Grilled Lemongrass Hanger Steak Salad was good, but not quite at the same level. The steak had good flavor, but the cut itself was somewhat chewy. The accompanying rice was simply prepared and didn't add much to the dish. The flavors were enjoyable, although slightly sweeter than my wife prefers. Service Service was excellent. Our server took the time to walk us through each dish, explaining ingredients, spice levels, and preparation so we could choose items that fit our tastes. We especially appreciated her knowledge of the menu and her attentiveness throughout the meal, my iced tea was never empty. Overall Juju offers an attractive setting, excellent service, and several very well-executed dishes. Our biggest challenge was simply that much of the lunch menu leans toward spicier offerings than we typically enjoy. While we probably wouldn't return specifically for lunch, the dinner menu appears to offer a much wider variety of choices that fit our tastes. We'll likely be back to give dinner a try.

My friend is from that area of the world and on her recommendation we tried this new place in downtown Durham. It was terrific, what a find! The restaurant's unique handmade paintings on walls and other Philippino decor was very eclectic and cool. We were in luck and she directed us to the back room. The server was extremely knowledgeable about all the dishes. Since I had my Philippino friend along she told us what she liked as well as the helpful server. The food was delicious and had a beautiful presentation. What I ate I can't pronounce so look at my pics of the menu ;) I had a bowl w beef filet, onions, tomatoes, cucumber lining the bowl w Jasmine rice and a fried egg on top. My friend had oxtail and the other had an appetizer of Lumplang Shanghai and entre of Pancit Behon, all food was extraordinary and large portions. No doubt that was why the place was packed! When you arrive parking can be a bit tricky in this area as you'll need to find parking on the street or in a nearby parking lot. When you arrive the entrance can be a bit hard to find as it's tucked away down a cobblestone road. Look for the "m" logo outside of the door of the restaurant. You'll check in with the host when you arrive, and for this trip we opted to sit at the bar. When you walk into M sushi you'll feel like you've stepped into an underground, relaxed hangout for sushi. To start I ordered the Mizuwari (Nikka Coffey Grain Whisky, elderfower liqueur, and tonic) which was perfectly balanced and a great way to start the meal. Following that the omakase service started with miso soup which was hot and fresh, followed by the different pieces of sushi. There was a variety from blue fin tuna, to sea bream, to Norwegian Sea trout. My favorite was a tie between the seared salmon belly and toro blue fin. We also ordered a bottle of Born Gold Junmai Daliginjo (Rich, smooth, fruit and grain forward) which paired excellently with the meal. We tried them because a soda was $6 and there were no free refills. I find that a strange decision but this could be personal preference. We got a mixture of the small plates and rolls including the nigiri (delightful!), tuna crispy rice (my 2nd favorite), dumplings, bao bun (one cut in half), the rainbow roll, and the unagi roll. While I thought the nigiri and tuna crispy rice were amazing - both tasted fresh - overall, the food was just fine. I think our experience could just be based on pure preference. I found the sushi to be good but not the best I have ever had as some other Yelpers have experienced.

We pre-booked the Omakase menu, a fixed price tasting menu that was honestly a deal regarding price point. We would have been satisfied with the first seven dishes even before we got to the tempura tasting. Standouts included scallop toast, chawanmushi, and scallop tartare. At this point we were more than content with what we already sampled but committed to finish. The tempura featured prawns, lotus root, lobster and more scallop. And if that's not enough, we were presented with a miso marinated sea bass in a rice bowl garnished with nori, wasabi and pickled daikon. We finished with a divine ginger ice cream, perfect in size , flavor and consistency. You can add on additional tempura items at one point in the meal, and you can add on a wine and sake tasting. My favorite courses of the meal were the FIRST "seabass sammie" and the brie tempura (get the add on if it's not included in your menu!!!!) Some of the courses were interactive (I.e. cooking lobster in butter) and made for a cool, fun, and unique experiences. The restaurant is small and cozy (limited seating, so make a reservation far in advance), and both the waiters and the chefs were extremely friendly and engaging (sit at the bar counter). Really enjoyed all of the food, and an opportunity to wear something nice, and to eat something different (than what you're used to in Durham). I appreciated they had 2 other tasting menus, for cheaper prices (one was only $38), and that every tasting menu was VERY different from each other (makes it easy to come back multiple times). Would highly recommend M Tempura, and will definitely be back!
