I was able to try this place on Sunday after discovering it on the internet, and searching for restaurants to try after the Gold Line LIght Rail opened in Arcadia. I love the "build your own meal" concept . You start with choosing how many scoops of fish you want and which ones. Then you choose your sauces and toppings. It was delicious, and the staff were very friendly and interested in how we liked our food. Everything that went into my bowl was fresh .... Pretty bummed to be updating this review after raving about it and being a regular here. The quality has certainly plummeted since this place opened. The rewards system changed (a few months back) and it's almost not worth it anymore. The fish is no longer fresh and seems like it's been sitting out for a while. Their seaweed salad is absolutely disgusting and tastes so fishy and gooey. The rice just get stickier and clumpy, I have to pry some pieces apart before I can eat it! I LOVED the servers before. They were so sweet and gave you generous amounts of fish. Now the new people seem like they're high, bored or just don't care. I had to repeat myself several times to this one girl who kept reaching for the wrong fish. I also told her specifically to not put any sauce in the bowl but give it to me on the side. Said yes and immediately forgot what I said and drenches my fish with sauce. I wasn't going to let that fly (I'm counting macros girl!!!) so I told her to make a new one. Another server seriously looked high and he gave me 4 pieces of fish for a medium bowl. Bro come on! Unfortunately I won't be coming back here anymore. I've been going here since they opened. I went today and on the way out the door I was putting the wasabi in my bag and one small bowls fell out. I picked up the mess and brought it back in and told the girl that made me the bowls what happened she told me to wait and went into the back. When she came back out she said that since it happened outside the store I'd have to buy a new one. Great customer service! Came here for the first time because I was craving poke! The portions here are okay, but the price is kind of pricey in my opinion. I'm always in this plaza but I finally had to time to try out the Poke here! It's located in the same plaza as LA Fitness, Vons & AU. There's plenty of parking so that's not something to worry about. Ordering consists of 5 steps. 1. Choose your size (small, medium or large). Small (2 toppings), medium (3 toppings) or large (5 toppings). 2. Choose your base. There's white rice, brown rice, salad or chips. If you got a medium or large, you can do half and half. 3. Choose your fish. There's spicy tuna, salmon, albacore, tuna, shrimp, yellowtail, octupus and scallop. I asked the worker for the most popular choices and he said it's salmon, tuna & yellowtail. I got the salmon and yellowtail. Can I say pretty bomb?? Because it was. 4. Choose toppings. They have a pretty good selection! They have green onion, masago, seaweed salad, onions, ginger, cucumber, wasabi and krab ("krab" because it's not real crab) meat. Avocado is extra $1. I added green onion, seaweed salad (I LOVE) and extra cucumber! 5. Choose your sauce. They have ponzu, sweet soy, wasabi aioli, sweet unagi, spicy garlic miso, citrus & spicy dynamite. They mix the sauces you pick with the fish you choose in a separate bowl before putting it into the bowl they serve you with. I picked ponzu and citrus which were both very light flavors. I don't like my poke to be drained in sauce so it was perfect! I heard the dynamite sauce was very popular. It's like a spicy mayo which is popular in many poke bowls! Lastly, top it off with fried garlic, crispy fried onions, chili flakes, sesame seeds or furikake! Overall, the workers were all very nice and friendly. It took me forever to pick my 2 fish choices so thank you for being patient LOL the price was decent for the amount you get and the quality of the food. Seating is pretty limited though. There are a few tables inside and 2 outside. They also have a rewards program for being a loyal custumer! After 10 bowls, you get a free medium bowl! Parking: Nice big lot! Although at certain times, it'll be filled because of the LA Fitness across the lot. A solid poke place in Arcadia! The fish has always been large and fresh, I always end up with fish at the end so the signs are encouraging. They had like 7 toppins to choose from (Octopus, Scallops, Albacore, Spicy Tuna, Tuna, Salmon, and Yellowtail) That's the most topping I see from a poke bowl. They had different add on base (White Rice, Brown Rice, Salad, and Chips) I was going to order the chip base but they said only offer that after the promotion is over which is on Monday. So instead settle with Salad. I not a fan of rice on poke bowl because the rice in general isn't well made as you find in sushi place. I settle with the large poke bowl which has 5 small scoops of fish. I pick Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail, Scallops, and Octopus. With almost all topping add on except onions. Seaweed and avocado is included as free topping which is nice. The fish actually is not too bad, i like the scallops and yellowtail fish. The sauce however were not that great, they should had just sriracha sauce haha. Soft opening October 8-11 12pm-8pm. 50% your total! Such a deal I couldn't resist. Today was day one of their soft opening. Their space is pretty small with only about 5 tables inside but there's also 2-3 tables outside. The menu is straightforward and they assemble your order right in front of you. You pick the size of poke bowl you want: $6.99 for small, $8.99 for medium, $10.99 for large. You have the option of white rice, brown rice, salad, or chips for your base. Then you choose your fish: spicy tuna, tuna, albacore, salmon, octopus, yellowtail, shrimp, scallops. For an extra $1 you can have a scoop of crab meat. Next, you choose your toppings. Keep in mind that avocado and seaweed salad are each $1 extra. I wish they told customers that those are extra though. Maybe I just got used to Chipotle always telling me the guac is extra.... Anyway. You can choose from 6 different sauces. I chose wasabi aioli but it the wasabi flavour wasn't very prominent. I don't like that they only mix in about a tablespoon of sauce with the rest of your fish and toppings. If there was more sauce, I would have finished my bowl. Sauce is crucial, ya'll! The place is a little hidden, because there's no giant sign outside and the storefront isn't very large. HOW TO ORDER_ It's kind of like ordering food from Chipotle, where you tell the server what you want and they build your bowl right in front of you. 1) First thing you will do is figure out how much protein you want in your bowl. You can choose from different types of sashimi (ahi tuna, spicy tuna, salmon) or scallops. Choose your size: small (2 scoops), medium (3 scoops), large (5 scoops). 2) Choose your platform: white rice, brown rice, or salad. 3) Choose your sauce. There's an array of different sauces, from wasabi aioli to Dynamite. 4) Choose your toppings: there's a bunch of different toppings, from ginger, roe, onions, scallions, edamame, avocado, sesame seeds, etc. 5) Choose if you want a drink. 6) Pay SEATING_ There are two-person tables inside, I always order my food to go so I've never used the tables. All these poke places keep popping up everywhere and the best thing about it is it keeps getting closer to home! I'm pretty sure this one is as close as it gets and I'm totally okay with that because it's pretty freaking close! I'm such a nerd about it, but avocado is a standard in your bowl here! If you love avocado as much as me, this will surely make you just as happy! Seafood tastes fresh and there's a good selection to pick from. There's also a variety of sauces to mix in so you're sure to never get bored and find something your taste buds will love. Not a whole lot of seating, but that's okay with me and there's ample parking. What I really enjoyed about this establishment that will keep me coming back is the service. Looks like I'm in the minority, but I thought Poke Bar was very mediocre compared to other poke spots in the area. I'm not really getting this poke hype, since most of these spots popping up aren't even serving legit poke. Real poke is supposed to be marinated, not just tossed with the sauce on-the-spot. Anyway, the menu is like every other spot, pretty basic. You choose your bowl size, and the medium comes with three scoops of fish. I got spicy tuna, salmon, and albacore over half rice and half salad. Went with the dynamite and shoyu sauce, as well as avocado, garlic chips, and crab toppings. Compared to other joints, I felt the toppings were more limited. There are 4-5 tables in the restaurant, so it's a decent place to grab a quick lunch if you're in the area and craving poke. Poke Bar is a decent poke place. Honestly with so many other poke places popping up its hard to stay unique. I only came here because it was close to my friend's house but I don't know if I'll be back. **They do have stamp cards and after ten bowls you get a free medium bowl for free Three sizes (small, medium and large) that are pretty pricey as it is. A small comes with 2 fish and costs the price of a regular size at a different poke place which was annoying because I knew I could've been getting more fish for the same price. Protein choices are pretty standard but they do have cooked crawfish as an option which was different. My boyfriend said his scallops tasted like water which was sad. There are some different things about this poke location in that they have shiitake mushroom rice, a variety of different sauces and different toppings (kimchi, kale, pineapples, and mandarin oranges) I didn't like the kimchi in my bowl because it just made the whole bowl a bit too salty and it didn't make sense in poke. Another note is that their rice is just plain rice not sushi rice if that makes a difference for you. Overall a decent place if you're in the area but I would rather go to different restaurants in the area since Cerritos has so many other options to offer. I love that avo is included as a topping without an extra charge. I opted for half brown rice half salad, and it was perfect. All rice would've been too heavy, and all salad would've been too light. I had the albacore and tuna, both of which were fresh. I didn't get any chewy connective tissue, which is always a sign of quality. The fish to stuff ratio was good. Definitely coming back again! You choose the number of scoops of fish you want first, then they mix in the sauce and put unlimited toppings to your liking! The scoops look pretty small - about 7-8 cubes per scoop, but it turns out to be an okay amount. I got the 3 scoop Medium ($8.99 + tax = $9.80) on white rice with one tuna, two salmon and the dynamite sauce which is their most popular. It has a very slight kick to it, but I think I'll up the spiciness next time I come and maybe add some spicy garlic. The unlimited topping choices is a HUGE plus for me because they have great choices such as crab meat, avocado, and masago fish eggs! I can't get too excited whenever I hear about another new poke place opening because they all tend to be some variant of what PokiNometry has done and I give them props for being one of the first to popularize this format: pick your base, pick your fish, pick your sauce, pick your toppings, it's gotten monotonous. But to Poke Bar's credit they do a pretty good job with their fish choices, and they don't charge extra for avocado or brown rice like some do. This is alright for people around Arcadia but I still like to call it "Chipotle" poke, or poke for haoles... I like my poke marinated in soy and sesame oil, with sweet onion, green onion, a little ginger and sea salt, with ogo and/or limu seaweed. Scoop portions are tiny. SUPER TINY. So I've actually been here on multiple occasions. The first time, there was some salmon stuck in the scooper but the worker didn't notice.. or care.. I'm not sure, let's not go there. So the scooper had salmon caked inside of it, and when he used it to scoop salmon for my bowl, I essentially only got half of what I should have gotten. It was literally like... four or five pieces of fish. It looked really sad. Shouldn't he have noticed? With the yellowtail, there really was no excuse. The scooper was clean. It was just a small scoop. I've been to plenty of other poke places where they just kind of give a heaping scoop, and I'm always pleasantly surprised. Either Poke Bar is being frugal because they're still new and trying to regain profit, or they're just being too frugal. Unless I'm too lazy to drive, I'd rather go to Pasadena and pay the same price for a poke bowl - but get a lot more fish. I feel a moral obligation to post a revised review of this place because I want to encourage businesses who take criticism from customers/yelp which is exactly what they did here. The biggest complaint I had initially about this poke place was the amount of fish they provided. First of all it appears that they have adjusted their dice of the fish from 1g size to maybe 0.5inch cubed squares which are in line with competitors. They also do not upcharge for yellowtail which is another plus as I see that common practice at other poke spots. Their portions are also more generous than when I first visited and are very reasonable; today for lunch I tried a large(5 scoops for 10.99) and was very full and satisfied. The number one thing about this place that impressed me the most, however, was their ability and willingness to adapt to change. They are one of the few restaurants to actually take customer opinion into consideration and make useful changes. Overall the service is much faster than ahipoki bowl and the fish quality is on par if not better as well. I ended up getting a medium because we had just came from a hike and I was starving! Holy cow there was so much fish! I didn't order because I was sitting outside with my dog but my boyfriend ordered for me. They have seating outside but it was super warm! There was luckily like one planter providing some shade but not enough. I've been to this joint more than 10 times and it's earned it's spot as the 2nd best Poke I've ever had (1st is the Poke Bar in Pasadena... it's superb) and the best in the SGV area. The lady that works there is super nice and the rest of the staff is pretty accommodating as well. If you're from the SGV area, definitely put this place on the top of your list if you have a craving for poke. What I love about this place is the amount of scoops of fish they give you. The large bowl gives you 5 scoops of fish, for the price of most poke place (most places only give you 4 and will charge you for additional scoops). And another great plus for this place is the fact that they give you a fresh scoop of Avocado. You heard me, a "fresh" scoop, not like the other Poke joints in Temple City that give you half a slice of a dried oxidized avocado. The toppings are pretty standard for poke but they give a decent amount. The proportion of rice to condiments/toppings is perfect with my only gripe being that they made the bowls a tad bigger. However, it's still worth the price for the food that you get. The absolute best part about this place is the rewards program they have. You can sign up for their rewards program and earn points that will eventually accumulate for a free bowl. No other Poke places do this, and it's great to go in one day and realize that you don't have to pay for your meal just because you've been a loyal customer. Alright so this review is based on their soft opening (50% off!). I fully intend to update my review in the upcoming months when they open for good. I really wish they would take advantage of their soft opening to explain to customers it's their first weekend and they're looking for comments/suggestions to improve. Actually all the individual ingredients were very good. - the older Asian lady, who I'm assuming is the co owner, is very nice, hardworking, and overall, great. - clean restaurant is always a plus Things they can improve upon: - I think the biggest issues they need to work out is either how they manage their employees or how they find them. The employees (especially the younger Caucasian girl and the younger Asian boy) seem like they HATE their work. And it's only their second day! Things are just gonna get more rough from here if they already hate it so much. The owner would know best how to fix this, but I'm presuming he needs to choose more experienced employees with a customer service background. Or maybe he's being strict to them and unfriendly. Or maybe his employees aren't feeling motivated for whatever reason. Or maybe he needs to give them more positive reinforcement. Who knows, it could be a whole range of reasons. Wow, I dropped by here for a late dinner around 815 and the place was pretty packed! Even towards 845 there were still people coming in close to dinnertime. This just tells you that this place is pretty popular. The format of the place is similar to most other poke places. You choose your size based in how many scoops of fish you want. Then choose a base. Then add toppings. Pretty standard. Fish choices were good and the ones I chose (Salmons albacore and yellowtail) were all fresh. Toppings are also pretty standard and seaweed salad, crab meat, and avocado are all included in the price! They only have a few sauce choices but it is enough... something for every palate. Poke was good and tasty overall. I have to dock a star for the subpar miso soup. It came from the dispenser and tasted like powdered miso. There was also nothing inside the soup like tofu or seaweed. The only option was green onion. The inside of the restaurant only has a few small tables that would only seat 2 people comfortably. This place looks like it is better for take out. read more

I ate here back in April 2017 and it's now August. Not sure if its ok to leave a review after that long but this place was so insanely good I wanted to give it some props. My buddy and I spent the whole day moving out of an apartment so were starving. We both ordered sushi poke bowls and they were both incredible. The sushi was very fresh, lots of toppings to choose from and the staff was patient and helpful as I tried to figure out which sauce I wanted. The flavors are lacking, the quality is suspect and the staff doesn't seem friendly. Perhaps I went on bad day, but I was literally #2 in line and it still took 5 minutes to order my food. They just seem like a shop not being managed well. I hope the quality improves and the sauce flavors improve. Right now, there is nothing making this joint different or better. read more

After months of waiting, it finally opened this week. Their soft opening special 50% off poke bowl runs through Sunday. Location- close to home, parking is easy. Happy that I don't have to drive to Pasadena and pay for parking. Food- fish tasted fresh and didn't smell fishy at all! (I have a very sensitive nose) I got a medium bowl (3 item) with brown rice and greens, salmon, yellowtail and scallops, sides- imitation crabmeat, seaweed salad, cucumber, edamame, onions with dynamite sauce. I agree with other yelpers, portions are a bit small. Based on the previous yelpers reviews, I told them I want it saucy and they hooked it up. Btw- crabmeat, seaweed salad and avocado is free! (I'm not a fan of avocados but the BF was thrilled that he didn't have to pay extra for it.) If you want an extra scoop then it's $1 extra. Free avocado is a big deal because all the other joints charges extra (i.e...chipotle). They have POG- delicious! I think this place has potential, I agree w Mel, they just need to work out their employee issues. Hope they take all feedback and make changes. read more
