This place is small, but has more seating outside. I got the combo plate. Witch tasted pretty good. My only complaint was that I had to wait 30 mins, due to them losing my ticket. I came after working out so I was hungry to the extreme! Hopefully, next time I have speedier service.

They have affordable combo plates and the food is delicious. Plenty of parking. They make the food when you order so have some patience and they'll call your number when ready. Very friendly and clean.

Kept driving past this place but haven't been inside. Finally stopped by to try their chicken teriyaki bowl combo with California rolls. The chicken teriyaki bowl was pretty good, but the California rolls weren't as good. It lacked flavor with cold rice and hard to eat. Quick and decent service. Limited seatings inside, but there are some benches outside.

    Salmon bowl - not bad!

I've been venturing out restaurants in the Monrovia/arcadia area and came across Taisho. I was split between the salmon bowl or the beef rib plate and ultimately went with the salmon bowl. It was good, and what you would expect.

I've been coming here for well over a decade, and it's so nice to see the quality hasn't ever gone down, and the prices have stayed low somehow haha. I always get the small chicken teriyaki bowl and it's the perfect amount of food and only costs $7! The service is always super welcoming and prompt. The food is always fresh, the meat always tender and juicy, and never cold. There's a public restroom, and plenty of seating inside and out. Wheelchair accessible entrance, dining area, and bathroom (one singular gender neutral). Thanks guys for being so amazing!

Was recommended this place from some locals, and they spoke very highly of this place. My friend and I wanted to check it out to see if it was worth the hype. We were caught by surprise on how cheap the food was compared to where we lived, so we ordered a chicken teriyaki bowl and sushi combo. It tasted pretty good and definitely great value. The lady taking our order was very friendly and nice, especially we went during lunch time and it was quite busy inside. The inside of the restaurant is just a regular sit down/ fast food type of environment, nothing too special. Overall, great place and highly recommend checking it out

This location has a private parking lot that's shared with other businesses. There's a simple plain cafeteria-style vibe inside. The service is fine and food arrives at a good time. You're mostly going here for some decent and fairly cheap food. The katsu is thin but the curry is already filled with chicken. The vegetables are fine. The curry has a good mild kick that's tasty. This place is serviceable.

I crave Japanese food sometimes but don't want to go sit somewhere. So I decide to check this place out. Ohhhhh man, I'm glad that I did. I got the large chicken plate which came with broccoli and I think cucumbers. Now mind you I looked at the price and decided to get the large because I thought it would be small, NOOO it was a good size. Large is ONLY $8.60, These prices are insane for good food. I added brown rice which was $1.50 more, not bad at all. The food was yummy. I'm still in shock about the prices lol but not complaining. The place is a bit small but I think they have patio seating, it was raining so I took it to go. There is a parking lot but they share it with other businesses. I am a fan and will be back.

I have the opportunity to visit taisho recently and had a good experience. They have a large parking lot making it easy to access. Food- I ordered the eight piece spicy tuna sushi, the role was large and very filling. For $8 I think it was worth it and would ordered it again 5/5 I believe the teriyaki plate was around $13 and was accompanied with a four piece California roll. Very filling and delicious. 5/5 You order at the counter and seat yourself. Turn around is pretty fast. It's nothing fancy, but it's quite tasty and good for the price.

I come here fairly often and I either get the chicken bowl or the combo sushi bowl and I love it! You can either call in your order or come in the store! There isn't a lot of seating available so I normally just pick up and eat at home. This place is always consistent and very tasty. Glad to say I'm a frequent customer :)

    Basic rolls. Very good.

Teriyaki Chicken here is must. Very good! It's marinated for 24 hrs and grilled nicely. Also, the teriyaki sauce is good (not too sweet). Perfect rice - not mushy or old. Taisho is a Japanese owned fast casual restaurant that offers home style Japanese meals. They have a sister location in Pasadena (Mako Bowl) that offers similar menu. Their specialty: Teriyaki Bowls, BASIC Sushi Rolls and Bowls, Curry Rice, Udon Noodles, Salad and Sides. Also, Sushi platters can be ordered on short time notice. This place is NOT fancy and that's the charm of this spot! Best of all? The price! Super affordable. Taisho will win you over on quality of food and modest prices! Majority of people do take-out; if you wish to dine-in, they have a small outdoor patio a few tables inside. Parking is in a mini-mall with ample space. Credit cards and cash accepted.

I love their ramen broth and the noodles here. We liked the popcorn chicken also, it was juicy on the inside and flavorful. The omurice is something that we don't have in San Fernando Valley so I was happy that I get to have this and I love how the omelette was perfectly cooked. It really pairs well with the pork tonkatsu with curry sauce. The Amazing Lemonade really taste refreshing, it taste different that the regular lemonade. The 2 desserts was a perfect way to end the meal. I live the mtcha pudding because you can really taste the matcha flavor in it. The Japanese Cherry Blossom Jelly is also really good if you want something on the lighter aide of dessert, it isn't too sweet or creamy. Parking can be tight during busy hours, and phone service felt a little rushed during dinner time. Togo orders must be ordered online. We ordered takeout from Sushi Kisen after craving sushi, and it ended up being much more filling than expected. The premium chirashi dinner comes with a generous portion of rice and a great variety of fresh sashimi, while the deluxe sushi dinner is the perfect amount for my husband. The rice is perfectly seasoned, and the fish tastes incredibly fresh. The uni stands out. It was buttery, clean, and not fishy at all, which says a lot because I normally don't order uni. The sides are also delicious and make the meal feel more complete, including pickled vegetables, acorn jelly, and steamed vegetables/sweet potato. Even though we ordered takeout, the restaurant gives off a relaxing and chill ambience that makes me want to come back and try the omakase in person. There's a small shared parking lot with several nearby shops and restaurants, so I can see parking being difficult during peak dinner hours. The lady helping us on the phone also doesn't seem very patient, although it may have just been because we called during the dinner rush. One small complaint is the packaged wasabi, which looks noticeably old and dark green compared to the bright green fresh wasabi included separately. There are limited booth seating (about 4 booths), one larger table, and roughly a dozen counter seats. We were a party of 4 with another group of 3 expected at the counter, so we were told next availability would be 7pm. But the owner (also the sushi/master chef) stepped in and offered to squeeze in an extra chair for us at the bar. We happily said yes, and that pretty much set the tone for the night. The ambiance is a cute, homey Japanese-style spot. It's calm and quiet enough to actually have a conversation, which I really appreciated. The owner was also cracking jokes throughout the night and kept everyone entertained, which made the experience feel even more personal. Food highlights: * Eihire (seared stingray fin) - 9/10. Great drinking snack, just wish there was more. * Grilled Angus beef tongue - 9/10. Tender with a really good jalapeño sauce. * Hokkaido uni tray with roasted nori - 10/10. Favorite dish of the night, easily. * Chicken liver, gizzard, and hearts in sweet soy - 10/10. Super rich and flavorful. * Whole grilled seabass - 9.5/10. Perfectly cooked, but could've used more ponzu. * Sous vide + grilled duck breast - 8/10. Solid, especially with salt and hot mustard. The mashed potatoes and roasted veggies on the side were . * Deep fried eel with ponzu - 7/10. Decent, but didn't stand out compared to the other dishes. * Sashimi (amberjack, hamachi, toro, sweet shrimp) - overall great. The sweet shrimp and fried head were 10/10, but the hamachi didn't quite match the rest. Also wish they gave more ginger upfront. * Roasted 5 kinds of vegetables - 7/10. Tasty but a bit pricey for the portion. * Sea snail - the only dish we wouldn't reorder. Not bad, just not our preferred style. Service was excellent. Our server gave great recommendations, kept our water filled, and checked in often without being overbearing. This is a 5-star spot largely because of the owner. Super down to earth, funny, and clearly passionate about both the food and the experience. Parking is free in a shared lot with other businesses. It's a decent size, so should be manageable. Definitely recommend making a reservation (they only take phone reservations)... but even if you don't, there's a good chance they'll still find a way to take care of you. I'd definitely come back to try more dishes.

There is a physical Drink menu (sake, beer, etc.) and the food menu can be viewed by scanning a QR code with your phone. The waitress made suggestions about which dishes she personally liked & we ordered whatever she suggested, along with some of the things we thought looked good. *7/10 Toro w/ seaweed *8/10 Moriwase (chef's selection of sashimi) 2 each of 5 different sashimi. There was one cut I did not particularly care for. *7/10 chicken wings *10/10 Beef tongue-- Tender, but firm. Delicious, a must try! *10/10 Ankimo-- creamy and paired well with the ponzu and fresh seaweed *10/10 Fried Seabass-- they served the entire fish, which is rare. *10/10 Sous-vide Duck breast-- must try! *10/10 Nikomi stew--simple, but delicious! *10/10 Matcha Oolong Panna Cotta-- subtly sweet with a smooth texture. It was so good, that we ordered two! The only reason that I only gave it a four out of five stars is because the service was slow. All of our dishes, came out in time, but no drink refills were given and the server never came back to collect our check for payment. So we had to walk it up to them ourselves. For a small space, with three servers, it shouldn't be hard to attend to all the customers. The menu can be pricey, but food is delicious! Along with exceptional service, eating here is worth it.
