Regular bowl with shrimp
Vanessa T.

Pretty tasty poke with an endless amount of toppings. No complaints on flavor but we were a little hungry after our regular-sized bowls, so I would recommend going for the large. Because of that, a little pricey but good in a pinch. I do wish everything was more bite sized, like chopping cucumber into matchsticks instead of disks or not adding pickeled ginger in such large bunches. It's the little things!

I really enjoyed my Poké Bowl. Fish and toppings tasted really fresh. They had a good variety of toppings, but I've seen better in comparable places in the area. They have lots of kombucha/sparkling water/specialty drink selection as well. The staff was very kind and helpful as a first timer. The place also smelt very clean (great sign). The bowls are $13 each for 2 bases and 2 toppings. I usually get sushi rice, and was disappointed to not see it here. Parking was pretty easy for us, but definitely not a huge amount of spots. Overall, had a good experience but would love to see more topping/base options!

My first visit was to grab some takeout. The place is right on Kennedy (close to the mall) next to Smoothie King (shares half the small building and parking). Parking right in front is a rough squeeze and there is a little side parking, but since I think most patrons take to go, it hopefully works out better than it looks. There is some seating inside, not much. My pic is of the regular bowl size. When most places offer spicy selections on their menu, it usually is pretty mild. In an effort to have a little more, I ordered the spicy tuna with spicy salmon and light spicy Poke sauce along with brown rice, kale and cilantro seaweed, edamame, all sorts of little colored sushi fish eggs, macadamia nuts and radishes... Hmm, I think that was all. My first bite was a single taste of the spicy tuna, and wow it actually was spicy! A true medium :-) All of the ingredients were very fresh, and that made for a very enjoyable poke bowl. The regular sized was pretty filling. I believe I paid around $13, and for the quality of food I received I was definitely OK with that. They have bottled water and healthy beverage options also, and all utensils etc are cutely decorated on a wall for you to grab as needed. Although I told the cashier it was to go and she gave me a to go bag, I had to get my own utensils to put in the bag, didn't really expect that but glad I double checked or my meal wouldn't have hit my mouth. I also asked for a to go menu, but must have grabbed the catering menu in error so I attached those pics. My magic answer is.... yes, I would definitely return again! But only right when then open at 11am maybe, as I don't want to deal with such limited parking.

Very fresh and delicious. A bit pricey by the time you are done with all the add on but definitely good. Great atmosphere too.

Coming soon! Tide to table, Poke fish, off kennedy next to smoothie king and McDonalds, south tampa

Poke Fish is located in South Tampa off Kennedy & Manhattan next to Smoothie King, Verizon, Jimmy John's, Fresh Kitchen, & Panera Bread. Poke Fish occupies a small space with interior wall art that creates a tropical feel with a unique blue and white color theme on its white walls with fish hiding behind blue pineapples, a blue rainbow, and blue fish shaped rain drops falling from the clouds. The majority of the restaurant interior space is occupied by a long counter where you can choose all your toppings with 4 tables inside the restaurant and 2 tables outside the restaurant in a space shared with the Smoothie King. The regular size poke bowl comes with 2 scoops of protein and 2 bases for $12.95 which is a little higher to the average going rate in South Tampa and a bit higher compared to the USF area poke spots. I ended up getting protein scoops of spicy tuna & shrimp with bases of green power blend, kale noodles, mixins of sweet onion, cilantro, green onion, toppings of Cucumber, radish, jalapeño, edamame, ginger, mango, pineapples, strawberries, blueberries, Seaweed Salad, macadamia nuts, orange tobiko, red tobiko, Wasabi tobiko, furikake, sesame seeds, wonton strips, fried onions, fried garlic, toasted coconut, chow mein noodles, Kimchi. For the marinade, I got sweet honey chili, tamari, & ponzu while for my topping sauce I got Thai peanut, Chili lime, & Wasabi. Talk about flavor town! All the ingredients were really fresh! The regular size bowl offers a very large serving size that is filling and will leave you satisfied. As with all poke bowls, when compared to sushi rolls, they offer much more food and a better value! I loved the sauces, there were a lot of toppings available and everything tasted great! When I was looking for a new Poke spot, I compared menus to other Poke restaurants on Kennedy and Poke Fish offers many more protein and mixin options than We Are Poke and Poke Burri was not open so Poke Fish is your best bet on Kennedy in South Tampa! I Look forward to coming back for more soon!

I should never put anything on a pedestal based on their instagram. I did that here. It was blah blah blah boring bland. Nothing to it. Just whatever and first impression of this place was fishy. I guess that should be after all it's in the name of their store. I guess I've become more and more of a poke snob with all the poke places that have popped up everywhere. This one was one of the most unappealing. I also didn't like that most of my bowl was rice & the very tough kale cabbage combo. Although I guess that is the usual texture, it didn't make it better. I picked the salmon and tuna and added crab salad and seaweed salad among other things. This seaweed was way too strong fishy tasting and the crab salad it was yet again flavorless. The price was a lot too. Totally unhappy camper. I wish I skipped this place, but I will next time. Done and done!

I have to start out by saying that I have been WAITING patiently for Poke Fish to open because poke is one of my favorite things to eat. I could have it twice a day and I was planning on it. But... First, it's cute inside. I love the clean white and blue look! The neon sign over the food area is adorbs! The wooden seats, not so much. I know they were a money saver, but they seriously are wanting you to take your food to go with seats like that. Definitely not going to hang out with friends there... Now, the food. There are a lot of yummy choices! IF they have them. When we were there I'd ask for something on the menu-say, masago. Pretty standard poke fare, and she just looked at me, at the empty tin, at me and said "We're out." Same with seaweed salad. Same with crab salad. Now, not only are these typical poke items you would want to make SURE you had plenty in stock when starting your business, BUT...you would soften the blow by BEING NICE ABOUT IT! That was my biggest problem. The girl was the crab they were missing! Unacceptable. Last thing: for $1.50 you pay for flavored water. It has cucumbers and pineapple in it and tasted like it had been sitting there since 6am...the day before. What a disappointment. But then again, I'm the idiot that paid for it. I seriously paid for something that every other restaurant in town gives out for free, with fresh ingredients. Yeah, that one's on me.

Poke fish is the greatest concept that has ever happened to south Tampa! Seriously though... I've always loved a good, fresh poke bowl but they bring fresh to an entire different level. The tuna is amazing and all of the unlimited toppings are just as fresh and delicious. While I cringe at the thought of spending $15 on lunch during the week, I still find myself at poke fish at least twice a week! It's so great, it's worth the extra few dollars. I am a huge fan of the large bowl with spicy tuna, regular tuna and their house sauce (a combination of three different amazing sauces). I pile on every topping in the poke bar and always add avocado. My only warning to anyone trying out poke fish is that you WILL become mildly addicted after your first visit.

Happy hour or lunch specials?

Are there any gluten free options? How about the Poké? Which sauces are contain soy?

I know all their sauces are made in house and are gluten free! The only thing gluten at the last time I went was the tobikos and wonton strips, everything else should be good to go. Such an amazing spot!

I've only had beef cheeks one other time, at LeRoy and Lewis in Austin, but I have to give Danny's the edge. They were unbelievably tender, literally melt in your mouth, with incredible flavor. The Wagyu Dino Rib was every bit as impressive. It was absolutely massive with a beautiful bark, the perfect amount of smoke, and so tender it practically fell apart. Of course I couldn't leave without some brisket, and it was just as outstanding as always. I had the chance to chat with Danny, and he and his team are some of the nicest people you'll meet. Their passion for great barbecue is obvious in everything they do. The Brisket Shoppe consistently serves some of the best BBQ I've had anywhere and, in my opinion, it's the best you'll find outside of Texas. Quality meat, cooked low and slow with skill, pride, and passion. It doesn't get much better than that. If you haven't been yet, do yourself a favor and stop by. Pro tip: Order online ahead of time. You'll skip the line, make sure you get exactly what you're after, and avoid the disappointment of them selling out. Trust me... they will sell out.

I was particularly impressed that the pork was moist and had such great flavor from the mojo brine. I would get both of those meats again. Loaded potato salad was flavorful; the skins are left on the potatoes, which I didn't mind but overall it was a little mayo-heavy for me. The chocolate chip cookies were scrumptious but I'm looking forward to trying the much-talked-about banana pudding next time. Ordering at the kiosk was easy. Loved all the little rooms for seating. I will definitely return! The drawbacks: the BON BON/roll that comes with the meal...mine was very dark and overcooked and dry and because of that, not at all enjoyable. (Didn't look like the light, delicate ones in all the pictures). The collards were SOO salty and drenched in vinegar, I couldn't eat them. Also, the only dining area that felt properly cooled on this very hot day was the room in the very back.

I love finding and supporting good small local businesses, and this place definitely earned a return visit. I ordered the Killa Kilauea Fries with extra sauce & a Spam Musubi. Everything tasted really fresh, you could actually taste that smoky BBQ flavor in every bite. The extra sauce was worth it too. The service was super friendly, the place is very casual, colorful & the whole experience was just solid from start to finish. The highlight of our visit was our server, Jake. His recommendations were spot-on. He checked on us throughout the meal without ever being overbearing. Everything paired perfectly together, especially with a dash of soy sauce. Kickin' Shrimp with Bread. The shrimp was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The only small suggestion would be to serve the bread in smaller pieces, making it easier to share. Entrees: Loco Moco - 8.5/10: Great flavor and cooked well. The only thing that would have made it even better would be adding some vegetables on the side. Blackened Grouper Fish Tacos - 10/10: Absolutely amazing!
