    Spicy Fish classic
    Layla A.

U Poke Spot always hits the SPOT lol. I usually always get the spicy fish classic because it comes with all my favorites. I love that they offer sushi rice as well here for a slight up charge because not all Poke spots offer it. The service is always fast and the area it's in is very convenient for a quick grab to eat before class.

In town for a few days and this is my first time here and the poke bowl was delicious. The outside is not necessarily a looker but don't let that deter you. I ordered a build your own poke salad and the ingredients were fresh (plus that it was just romaine lettuce) and cold which is such a plus. The gentleman that served me was friendly attentive and efficient. If I am in the area I will definitely be back to get my poke fix Update I went twice in one day it was so good lol

I has this delivered and it came hot and packaged so neatly. Everything inside was fresh and tasted delicious. It's more than enough as you can see and it was well worth it. The spicy salmon and tuna was so good I also added edamame and crab, crispy wontons. Good stuff

I was really thrilled to find UPoke Spot online, when I was searching for poke bowls at a reasonable bowl. I was pleasantly surprised to find a bowl that costs $12.95, which is a bargain compared the $20 bowls I have purchased in the past I ordered a "design your own bowl/ w two scoops of protein. I ordered a base of white rice with two scoops of spicy tuna, cucumber, mandarin segments, edamame, spicy mayo and mango sauce. I am happy to report that it was delicious! Location: very easy to find, in the same plaza as Einstein Bagel's on East Fowler. Cleanliness: 4/5 Service: 3/5 (felt a bit rushed, but this may be necessary for efficiently serving people when it is busy). Quality of food: 4/5 Value for money: 5/5 (good portion size for a reasonable price). I will definitely be back to try their sushi burritos which are under $10. If you are in the area, give this place a try. It's such a good deal that it would still be worth a drive, if you don't live particularly close either.

Oh my word! So tasty and all 4 of my children thoroughly enjoyed being able to build their own sushi bowl and I loved the sushi burrito. Fresh ingredients and priced moderately well (about $12 bowl/burrito) staff was also very nice

I found this quaint little poke restaurant on Yelp and had a strong craving for some fresh food on my business trip. The restaurant is in a nice little strip mall and was very clean and bright inside. The menu was easy to understand and the staff were all so friendly and helpful. The poke choices all looked very fresh and clean. I loved the variety and definitely feel like there is something for everyone's taste preferences. The boba tea was sooooo good and refreshing too! You have to order it! I would strongly recommend this restaurant. You won't go home hungry- and that, folks, is all she wrote.

3 protein custom bowl with white rice ,spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and shrimp! So awesome!

I noticed this establishment a few months ago while eating at Einstein. I initially thought it was a store for Pokemon merchandise and never felt like checking it out. I looked it up on Yelp and was surprised to learn it was a Chipotle style restaurant. I can sum it up as Sushi mashed up into a customizable bowl. You pick your size of bowl and then your proteins which are different types of fish , chicken then rice or lettuce as a base, then various toppings, sauces. With the exception of avocado and 1 other item, all the toppings/sauces are all included in the price which is very cool. Note: The rice is hot and the fish is cold. This may turn some people off,but most people shouldn't be turned away. The employee was very patient when it came to my thousand questions. They have a fountain soda with Coke drinks. For 11-12 bucks ,you get a very filling meal. I'm a big guy and I was stuffed. Some people could maybe even have left overs from one bowl. What's nice is that the full feeling is different than than say Indian food buffet where your blood sugars go over 9000! I'm glad that the USF area is getting more cool restaurants. I would have been sure this place would be located on MacDill or Howard Ave,but I'm glad to be wrong. They're open till 11 pm on Fri/Sat which is rare for Tampa. The only negative about this place is subjective and minor..The tan wood furniture is a bit bland and makes it look like it's unfinished. It is clean as is the bathroom. If you like sushi or Asian food, make sure to try it out!

A custom poke bowl with at least 70% of the toppings :)
    Brett N.

Why 5 stars? Because the customization is unmatched. --- --- --- I love poke. And I love fast-casual places that allow you to customize your order. U Poke Spot combined these two loves. I started out with a bowl with two proteins - one serving of tuna and one serving of salmon, but when I saw that the portion of each was on the smaller side, I opted to upgrade to a three protein bowl, and add in a second helping of tuna. And that turned out to be a wise move on my part, because there was so much goodness sitting on the other side of the food bar, that I couldn't help myself but go a little crazy. If I hadn't tacked on the extra poke, it might have been hard to even notice the fish, buried under my excessive amount of toppings. As I was going through the line and ordering all of the add-ons, it got to a point where I actually kind of felt embarrassed. Was I actually ordering the largest amount of toppings in the history of U Poke Spot? On one hand, it feels like it might be possible, but on the other hand, who could resist all of these delights? Cucumber, Sweet Onion, Sweet Corn, Hijiki Seaweed, U Poke Sauce, Avocado, Green Onion, Fish Eggs, Mango Salsa, Wasabi, Seaweed Salad, Crispy Onion, Crushed Macademia Nuts and Toasted Coconut. Phew! Someone has ordered more than that before, right? Right?! The one and only negative to that robust list, is that I might have added so many things that they all blended together. But that didn't matter to me. It tasted amazing and I loved it. I will absolutely be back! I love this concept!

Finally we have Poke place that can pick the side items you like to add on. Orlando has this build your own and 4 steps process assembling about 5 year ago. Tampa simply behind the schedule. U pick have advantages and disadvantages. You may need to have some chef know the flavor and ingredients skill. First pick your base. Rice, brown rice, veggie, chip. Second pick your protein tuna, salmon, chicken, octopus, crab salad. Third pick your ingredients. Fourths pick your sauces and last pick your topping. If you pick the wrong thing, it is your fault. No body to blame. Overall l like to have this U pick restaurant. A few things the restaurant can improve is to have the ingredients and sauce mixed before join the poke bowl. If you have the plain protein, that also can join the mixed up.

    Hawaiian classic - yum!
    Rachel M.

This is okay to me. I think it's nice to be able to pick your own toppings, but u really don't know what is extra and what's not. The reason is because u see all the toppings, but they are not labeled and u have to ask, what is that and that, etc. By the time, you are finished that surely awesome customized bowl has added up. I opted for the Hawaiian bowl. I had add in's and of course it added up to like um, Maybe $16 or 17 I'm pretty sure. That's way too much and guess what, I only had one protein. I wished I could have tried another. I had the marinated tuna. Happy these places are finally popping up around town. This is probably the closest to me. I hope to find one I can't resist. Till now, it's good to know it's in the area, but I'll keep on finding the one that's good for me.

Salad base with spicy salmon and tuna, almost all the way!
    Lita L.

I can't believe I haven't been here before! I sure have been missing out on some incredible food! I was here with my monthly lunch with bffs, and they loved it too. It is the nicest selection of super fresh ingredients and almost unlimited toppings included in your bowl. You pick your base of rice, salad, or burrito, regular or large, 2 proteins, fillings, toppings, and dressing. I chose a salad base, spicy salmon and spicy tuna, hijiki seaweed, seaweed salad, jalapenos, cucumber, tamago, cilantro, crab delight, green onion, fish eggs, sesame seeds, and sunflower seeds, with spicy ponzu dressing. Every bite was so packed with flavor! I didn't have to toss it because they toss it half way through and then top. Each section of my salad was a different flavor explosion in my mouth! I can't wait to eat here again!

I was at Busch Gardens for the morning and knew I HAD to stop at U Poke Spot while I was on the USF side of town. I had been to the shopping center that U Poke Spot is located at dozens of times while at college so it was easy for me to find. My immediate reaction when I walked in was that this establishment is clean and bright. There were many options to choose from on the menu including a poke rice bowl, a poke burrito or a poke salad. There were both "build your own" and already concocted options to choose from. I went with the build your own poke rice bowl and chose the large option to split with my boyfriend. We went through the line choosing all of our toppings and were pleasantly surprised with the bowl. It was enough for two people to share (we weren't starving though). All of the ingredients were fresh and tasty. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because it was good, but wasn't need to go back asap great. If I lived closer to USF I'd probably stop in once every other month or so.

Poke bowl with salmon and ahi
    Lara T.

Great fresh poke place located near USF. Friendly and efficient, five of us went through the line within 3 minutes. You get to decide if you want rice, salad or in a burrito, choose 2 or 3 proteins, add your veggies, sauce and your crunch. I had Ahi tuna with salmon with brown rice. So filling and delicious. Both of the proteins were so fresh and tasted great. They have adequate seating as well if you want to sit there and eat or you can take it to go, or call in your order and pick up. It is in a strip mall so the parking is shared with several other stores. One of the best poke places I have been to.

The food, the cocktails, the service and the ambiance are all excellent. My ONLY criticism is sometimes the music can be a little too loud for conversation, but this isn't always so. I'm a cocktail geek and have made multiple trips to The Aviary in Chicago. Believe me, The Aviary has nothing on the Tanto bar program. Cocktails are unique, creative, and delicious. Food was amazing, whether omakase or á la carte. Staff is attentive, fun and playful. Chuck and Nick anchor the beverage service while Tony and Ari will make you feel at home. If you are lucky you may get a visit from Chef Cody. Standout drinks: #1 is Seoul Food. Think the savoriness of a Bloody Mary but without tomatoes. Hard to describe but don't miss it! Other highlights include Opposite Day, Memory in Bloom, and Three Way. Season of Again pairs beautifully with the oysters. I hate to say I have a favorite restaurant, because I choose different places for differing needs, but Tanto has won my heart and tastebuds.

When your food is ready, they call your name over a microphone and you bring it to your table, which is available on a first come first serve basis. There's not really anyone working the front counter, which I thought was interesting. There's picnic tables out front where people were sitting with their dogs, so appears to be pet friendly outside. I had the curry with tofu and vegetables. I ordered spicy and enjoyed it. The heat kind of creeps up on you. I will order this again. BF had the chicken katsu - the chanko sauce was so good on it. The pickled daikon is a great touch, and if you like pickled veggies, that tiger slaw is AMAZING. We ordered a small plum wine to split. Portion sizes are HUGE, so I appreciated that everything was served in to-go containers. We definitely had leftovers that I may or may not have eaten for breakfast this morning. One thing I felt could be improved is that it's a little warm inside. Clearly they know that because there were fans on the counter. It's Florida and it's summer and their kitchen is busy in a small space, so probably the A/C is just a little overwhelmed. Great place overall.

I…read morewill jump around a bit with this review as I am returning to writing, but hope that it makes sense as you read it. The restaurant is located conveniently within the Grand Plaza of the Carrollwood area in northern Tampa. The parking spaces in the front does get crowded and full rather quick, however there are plenty of spaces in the back that isn't too far of a walk. The entrance/main door is actually off to the side under the hard structure roofing - you walk through a small section of the outdoor seating patio to get to it. It must be noted that this review and experience is based on the following factors: - The review is written strictly for the American hibachi experience. The restaurant does offer other a la carte options if you don't want the "showmanship" and flair with your dining experience. - A reservation was made through Open Table. I highly recommend making a reservation beforehand. This was purposeful and intentional due to the occasion, and I wanted to make sure we were locked in. I feel that this also made for a smoother seating process as the restaurant had to prepare the table and chef. All in all from arrival to getting seated, we waited no more than 10 minutes after our entire party was present. - There were 12 individuals in our party which also accounted for the prompt seating (I believe you are paired and tetris'd with other guests for smaller parties). 12 is the max that a table can host - anything more will require multiple tables. I want to emphasize at this point how Kobe Japanese Steakhouse is suited for large parties. Most, if not all, the individuals in our party have not had American hibachi for as long as we can remember. We also had children in our party. Taking this all into account, it turned out to be the perfect venue for any type celebratory events (business outings, birthdays, baby showers, etc.) I could not recommend this place enough if you want an "easy winner" to delight the group. Now let's talk about the food and the chef. The quality and taste definitely exceeded our expectations. The food was cooked perfectly and the meats were extremely tender and flavorful. While not the most animated of the chefs there, our particular chef was very attentive to our needs. He ensured that our meal was enjoyable and delicious. Pricing-wise, you're looking at an average cost of $30 to $40 per individual. Overall service was not bad - the most important part was that everyone was welcoming and friendly. Overall, I would highly recommend Kobe Japanese Steakhouse if you are the one planning for a large group!
