So far I've only gotten take out from them but every single time has been an absolute hit. This is the best poke in Tampa, I will not be convinced otherwise. The ingredients are fresh, the sauces are delicious, and there's lots of variety for those of us who can't narrow it down to just three things. I've also tried their clear onion soup (SO flavorful!), the dumplings (very tasty but definitely need a sauce, I mixed together some soy sauce and sesame oil and it was good), and a couple of noodle dishes. I haven't had a single bad meal from here. The counter guy is always so friendly and will stop whatever he's doing to help, too, and I love him for it! I'm definitely going to try eating in one day. On my first visit, I had a spicy rice noodle soup ( with pork intestines)--nothing too spicy, but the broth had an authentic flavor that reminded me of home. I'd give it an 8 out of 10. If you can't accept eating organs, you might choose regular beef or the veggie one. I came back for a second visit and tried the noodles, which I enjoyed even more--definitely a 9 out of 10! The poke express add the Yunnan rice noodles soup and Chinese BBQ. We revisited their restaurant for their added menu. We are welcome for additional choices for the customers. We start with the Chinese BBQ with lamb and intestines skews. Those are good spice marinated and rich in taste. The meat provides in the skewers has good quantities. It is very positive. The second appetizer is the 5 spice chicken nuggets. Those are really good too. The main dish is the chili chicken with rice. This dish is ok. I prefer they fried the chicken and stir fry with chili sauce. Unfortunately, is just a regular stir fry. The last dish is Yunnan fatty beef noodles soup. I found a Groupon offer for 5% cashback which attracted me to Poke Express! Upon arriving, the parking lot is spacious. From looking at the exterior of the shop, I was a little skeptical - but I decided to trust my fellow Yelpers as the reviews were quite positive overall. My family and I stepped into the restaurant and were immediately greeted. They asked us if we knew what we wanted and when we expressed that we were unsure, they offered us some menus and told us we could sit down to have a look and decide. We ended up ordering their hibachi chicken noodles (portion was amazing for the price), a regular sized build-your-own (comes with 2 scoops of protein, you can choose 2 different ones from their selection) and a large size build-your-own (comes with 3 choices of protein, $10.99). If you're looking for a place with aesthetic-looking poke bowls, this might not be the place; however, they have really cute decor (like these angel wings) for you to take you pictures if you wish. More importantly, the ingredients tasted fresh (e.g. I could see behind the counter that they had fresh avocados ready to be cut and served). I tried the spicy salmon and spicy tuna for my bowl - fish was fresh and tasty as well! I must also add that I really enjoyed the crab salad, seaweed salad, and spicy mayo that I added to my bowl. I had a great poke bowl from here a few days ago. My friend got a bento box which he said was also delicious. Food tasted very fresh and not like the fish had been sitting out. A little pricey but on par for the area. The only complaint I have (and it isn't even really a complaint, just a tip) is to ask for extra sauce because at least for me, I like a little bit more sauce in my poke. Or perhaps ask for it on the side. But highly recommend. I will be returning. read more

Hands down the best Poke Bowl I've had in Tampa so far. Why does this side of town have all the flavor! I drive out here to eat all the time. Damn USF kids get everything! :) I just really like poke on its own with out rice and all the extras...the way I've Eten it all my life. However the new poke bowl craze has taken over and I feel that these bowls are made the right way. The sauces complement the fish which is the most important component of poke. I was thrilled to get fresh tuna, baby octopus and black rice in my poke bowl here. I don't think I've seen all the toppings you can get here anywhere else. Great poke, served up by some very friendly people. The two-protein bowl ($9) was a little smaller than I'm used to, but it was still plenty for lunch. They don't have a lot of protein options here, but the variety of mix-ins and toppings makes up for it, including a couple of rare items like red cabbage and pickled bamboo shoots. I tried the spicy poke sauce, and it was great (thankfully; sometimes I have a hard time picking sauces). Decent poke spot in Tampa for a quick healthy meal. Had their food twice and was satisfied with the quality. First time I ordered large poke bowls and gyoza via Uber Eats. Second time we dined in and had a small poke bowl and shrimp hibachi. I also got complimentary miso soup. Price is very reasonable and fish is fresh. They also have a Yelp check-in offer for a free drink which I forgot to take advantage of. Oh well, next time! My only gripe is the odd wall art throughout. Poke Express has a build your own bowl subway style line where you ask for ingredients to put in your bowl as you move down the line. Poke Express has 4 or 5 tables and offers a casual no frills basic atmosphere with no music. However, Poke Express does have cool little plants on the tables which add a nice touch. Poke Express serves Poke Rice Bowls, Sushi Burritos, Poke Salad Bowls, and Hibachi with Shrimp, steak, salmon & chicken. Protein options for poke bowls include: tuna, Spicy tuna, Spicy salmon, salmon, tofu, cooked shrimp, Spicy shrimp, and chicken. BBQ Eel & BBQ baby octopusand black rice are $1 extra each. 2 scoops of protein will run you just $8.99 and is the best deal on poke in town from what I've seen. If you're hungry, you can get 3 scoops of protein for $10.99 which isn't bad either. Poke express's Hibachi is a bit higher priced than other places like Hibachi express but still considerably less than a full fledged Hibachi restaurant. If you dine in, you can get a free miso soup with purchase. If you do a yelp checkin, you can get a free drink. I came with coworkers and got a large poke bowl with 3 protein scoops of spicy shrimp, Spicy tuna, & spicy salmon, mix-ins of red onion, mango, pickle radish, cucumber, red cabbage, carrots, egg, corn, edamame, jalapeño, cilantro, Seaweed salad, Krab salad, zucchini noodles, Wasabi mayo, yummy sauce, sweet chili, toppings of sesame seeds, crispy onions, crispy garlic, wonton chips, sun flower seeds, green onions, masago, Wasabi tobiko, Furikake, tempura crunch, toasted Seaweed, and pickled ginger. Our pole bowl server was pretty quick and friendly and we didn't wait long to place our order, get our bowls, and cash out at the register. The 3 scoop poke bowl was very filling and very tasty! I could barely finish the bowl! I think a 2 scoop pole bowl would fill me up too. Probably wouldn't order here again. Not the greatest experience. I was shooooook when my order was $16 and the bowl was the smallest poke bowl I've ever laid eyes on I was going to eat and drive the 45 mins home, so I asked if I could have a larger bowl to dump mine into so I didn't spill it in the car. They refused I thought they misheard my question so I asked again "can I please have an empty large bowl so I don't spill this one in my car" And again he said no Turned and walked away... no thank you goodbye nothing. I ordered a poke bowl and everything was really good and fresh. Only thing I didn't like was that my bowl had a lot a lot of sauce where my rice was so wet. So just make sure you let the staffs know when to stop I guess. Other than that, my experience was pretty good. Will order again. read more

Don't believe the reviews. I don't believe I have ever in LIFE had worse sushi than here. I am new to town and I came here on the strength of the strong 4.5 star review online. I am incredibly dissatisfied. The sushi was bland and mushy. I paid for cream cheese to be added to my rolls and didn't get it. I asked for extra wasabi and didn't get it. I ordered spring rolls and they were mushy too - mushy cabbage! It's a shame too because the staff is so friendly... but the food is just not good. Looks like a small place but it's packed with goodies. There is a decent amount of seating inside for its size, but I'm sure if they are packed for lunch you might be pressed for a seat. No outdoor seating. They have some set menu items if you'd rather not make you own plate. But if you're not into what you see on the menu than this place works a lot like chipotle except more Japanese. You can have your protein in different forms like a bowl or even a burrito. They've got your standard items like salmon and spicy tuna but they also have a couple extra things like octopus. Yum!!! After the proteins you pick your toppings and sauces and than your good to go. This place is not far from USF and is pretty fair on its prices for Poke. All in all there are some yummy nom nom's to be had here. One of the best poke places I've been to in Florida. I haven't found a place that serves poke like the ones in California, but this definitely comes close. Love their wide selection of proteins, mix-ins, and toppings. I normally get a customized bowl with half salad/half rice or their Unagi (eel) Lover Burrito. I have yet to try their hibachi dishes but it always smells delicious. They also have small sides like gyoza (fried dumplings), miso soup, and harumaki (spring rolls). So many choice of vegetable, herb, sauce, topping- it definitely provided a good chance of building an awesome Poke bowl. I liked mine, it tasted delicious! I really like it here! I've been there twice in the last week and love the poke bowls I've tried. I've gotten a regular sized bowl with 2 scoops of protein. Spicy tuna is yummy, and their chunks of raw tuna are, as well. I love that it's unlimited toppings! They have quite a few, too! From cucumber or zucchini, to red cabbage to onion, to crab salad or broccoli salad. Lots of sauce choices, too! Eel, soy, spicy mayo, ginger, yummy ... and then dry topping like Sea weed, sesame seeds or dried garlic. They're ever so slightly skimpy on the toppings, and both times I've had to ask for more. They also have hibachi. My little girl had chicken and fried rice yesterday. Cooked well, but the chicken was very bland. We had to sauce that up!! Service is fast and friendly. Each time I've been to the Poke Express I have ordered the shrimp and steak hibachi and each time I have left happy. You can watch them make your food right in front of you whether you order poke or hibachi which I think is pretty cool. With that and the fact that they are very quick about fulfilling orders, I never have any complaints. They give you huge portions of rice, veggie, and protein so you get what you pay for. Everything is delicious and not overly salty or seasoned. They also give you three sauces on the side which is a nice touch. While I didn't get a poke bowl, my friends I came with did and neither had any complaints. The plaza this restaurant is in usually has a few parking spots open. It's never been an issue for me. So I came here after going to another poke spot earlier today and I'm a little disappointed. The bowl for large was still smaller than the regular at the other one. I don't like doing bad reviews so I'll keep this too a minimum. They really are super stingy with the different add in's. And tried two sauces both tasted almost alike- very much soy sauce based. Three stars for effort and cool 6/1 update: After reconsidering and trying it again, it has started to grow on me. I like their selection and it seems like they have started to not put a pinch but a little more. And I like their yummy sauce the best. We checked this place out last month since it's new ownership now offering Chinese food. First time there, the food was delicious and service was great even though they were busy. Most recently, we went back to try some of their other menu items. There were 2 tables including us, and each table were a party of 2. However, the service was horrible. We sat there for more than 10 minutes before our order was taken. Nobody came back to check on us the entire time we were there. After we were done eating, we waited another 10-15 minutes and decided to go up to the counter to get our check and to go boxes. It may be worthy it to order to go. They respect you and treat you like family. They're so kind and humble that they'll go out of their way to get you anything you need.
