The vegan dumplings came with a weird fleshy-looking piece mixed in, which was really off-putting and made me question the quality control. I've been eating at Sus Hi Eatstation for several years and usually enjoy both the food and the service. Unfortunately, my most recent visit left a sour taste in my mouth. When I picked up my order (a sushi burrito over $17), I asked for extra spicy mayo. The gentleman at the counter entered it into the computer and was about to charge me $0.70 for a tiny side of spicy mayo. Really? After spending that much on a single item, it feels like nickel-and-diming loyal customers over condiments is a poor business model. Other restaurants, like Chick-fil-A right down the street, don't tack on extra charges for a bit of sauce. I thought of going to get a poke bowl , but wanted to change it up a bit and get a sushi burrito. Sus is in the desolate plaza right next to an Amscot and with the Foot Locker/Jimmy Johns/Badar Salon across from USF mall. The ordering is done on a touchscreen tablet where you can modify your order. I decided to get the Cry Me a River Fried Burrito. It contains sushi style tuna/salmon/edamame/veggies and wasbioli sauce. The restaurant is somewhat small (It is basically a rectangle and the majority of the space is used for the food prep and there are barstools in a row along the periphery. There are 1/2 small tables right outside. There are cute signs along the wall. The bathroom is clean, but more importantly there is a mural of lots of manga/anime artwork. they serve bowls, sushi rolls, burritos, and appetizers like tempura/gyoza. The burrito was $13.50, but $15.50 if you get it fried. The coating is a tempura batter. The crunchy exterior is an interesting taste with cool fish inside. The burrito held together well and it was not messy like Chipotle burritos which threaten to self destruct after a few bites. However, I didnt feel it was as flavorful as I thought it would be. The sushi fish was fresh as were the veggies. Maybe Im used to spicy tuna and spicy salmon and these were regular? The sauce used was unremarkable to me. It was just solid to me. 3/5 I ordered at 6:35 pm and received my burrito and water at 6:59 pm. 24 minutes for a casual place! The workers were working efficiently; I'm guessing they have a lot of delivery or carryout orders. I think 15 minutes would the most I would wait. Either order 30 minutes before and head over or be prepared to wait. Also, the seats are not comfortable for sitting for more than 15-20 minutes. Extra Triple X sauce on the side. Got it to go since there is no seating inside due to COVID. Get home and beyond irritated!! Near the USF area, Sus Hi Eatstation opened during the pandemic and is still serving our area in a tasty, safe and responsible way. They even have mini nori burritos if you want a sushi roll appetizer before your main course sushi! The most decadent way to order your sushi...is to DEEP. FRY. IT! You can get regular rolls deep fried or get a behemoth sushi burrito deep fried! I ordered the "Fry Me a River" sushi burrito, which includes white rice, salmon, tuna, spicy krab, cream cheese, avocado, edamame beans, purple cabbage, cucumber, scallions, carrots, sesame seeds, triple x and wasabioli. You can also make adjustments to menu items; I switched out the triple x spicy sauce for the spicy mayo. The outside of the burrito doesn't get too hard when they fry it. It gives an extra texture to the fresh burrito and elevates the fried sushi concept. My husband created a custom roll. The ingredients tasted fresh and you really get a fair amount of food for the price. We ordered a mini nori roll for our parents who don't normally eat sushi, but they enjoyed their order. Decided to stop here after seeing a cool YouTube video of the Orlando location-but was a complete disappointment upon arrival. This location is situated in a dilapidated strip mall filled with less than desirable storefronts such as liquor stores, dollar general, smoke shop, to also include an ascot rental with ripped awning and broken sign. There's also an alarming amount of foot traffic NOT related to store fronts. Upon walking in, there are two screens to place your electronic order on but you have full view of the employee behind the counter, there back kitchen area and the open food behind the preparation bar. If you like sushi and you like burritos and you get a little excited about sushi burritos then you're gonna love the deep fried sushi burritos at this place. I won't bother describing the flavor sensations or incredible textures because I'm sure you can imagine. I will say that what ever you're visualizing that sensation to be...., it's just a little better than that. The crab Rangoon were the best I've ever had. The girls working the place were absolutely fantastic. I deducted 1 star because I think the owners of the establishment need to tighten things up. The following is what I didn't like: 1) ordering. I tried placing an order on line for pick up but my order was not placed on-line. The website let me choose things and add them to my cart before they opened with a time after they opened but would not allow me to actually complete the order until they were actually open. After they were open I hit the button again and it appeared my order was placed. Upon arriving I learned that it had not. They have a kiosk touch screen for ordering in the store but if you've never been there you're gonna look at the end of the work station, walk up to it and wait, walk down to the other end and eventually see the sign that says "pick up" before walking back to where you came in. Here you'll stand for 15 to 45 seconds looking and feeling stupid until one of the girls asks if they can help you. When you tell them your trying to order they'll point to the small kiosk and you'll feel a little extra stupid. Maybe just me but I don't want to have to suffer a learning curve at the places I frequent for dinner. 2) I had this place bookmarked for some time because who doesn't yearn for deep-fried sushi delights? But when I got my fried sushi burrito it wasn't fried. I have yet to find the place in their ordering app that asks if you want this fried or un-fried but it seems like you need a human to help with some of this and they don't have humans ever take your order. They did fry my burrito eventually and it was glorious. 3) My fried sushi burrito was an explosion of awesome flavors but because they cut the burrito diagonally, in one half there was mostly cream cheese and veggies while the other was mostly tuna. Simply cutting it evenly in half would have been perfect, tho maybe slightly less aesthetically pleasing. I highly recommend and hope this helps your 1st visit go a little smoother than mine. Formerly Pita Pit, this used to be one of my favorite spots by USF. Recently turned into a Sus Hi Eatstation (what's that???), I was eager to try it when I saw the ad pop up on my Instagram. I walked in and was quickly greeted by a staff member who was ready to help. He directed me to the iPad stations and how it would be most easiest to order online through the app, but since I was already here he'd walk me through it. The concept of customizing your sushi roll, burrito and/or bowl is quite nice. I can see this being a bit overwhelming if you're a novice to sushi, but coming here is a great way to try out something new! I ordered a tempura shrimp roll with 3 toppings. You can choose more than 3. However, I was advised the more you add, the tougher it is to roll. And let's face it, nobody wants a sloppy roll that falls apart.
