I have to tell you, I feel somewhat embarrassed that I am just now writing a review for Polar Bell Embroidery because I've been a customer for several years. While they do great work or shirts, jackets and hats they are all about helping you to solve your embroidery issues. My particular issue occurred back in October of last year when I needed a HUGE patch (37" x 14") embroidered for my trade show exhibit. I scoured the entire planet via the internet to find someone who could help me out but Trung was the only one who provided a solution. The solution was to cut the pattern into sections and make each one as a separate patch and then reconnect each section after they were completed. Along the way, his largest machine broke down at a critical moment, but in the end I had my patch which was a huge hit as part of my trade show exhibit. Phenomenal work by phenomenal people. HORRIBLE SERVICE!! I came here to get a bridal gift embroidered and she RUINED it!! She charges me $20 to put a name on a white sweater and it takes a week to get done. When I went to pick it up, I noticed that the fabric was bunched up on the embroidery so she said she would fix it. I come back a few days when she told me to and she wasn't even there! I left her a message, she didn't call back. The next day, I come back again, she tells me she didn't fix it yet. NO PHONE call to even tell me that. I wasted my time coming back and forth. I ask her if I can see the sweater. There were yellow stains...on the WHITE sweater! YELLOW STAINS on a brand new white sweater and messed up fabric with unfinished embroidery!! it was terrible and I was furious! She never once apologized for being irresponsible and unprofessional. She tells me to wait around some more so she can do it. I tell her I had enough of it. She says "Well, what do you want to do about it?" WOW! Got my money back and after some arguing, she gives me money to replace the sweater. Again, not once did she even apologize or feel bad about anything. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. 4.5 stars I came to her on a really short notice. I was only in the bay for about a week for Spring Break and needed to get some greek letters done before I went back to school..came in on Wednesday and needed them by Saturday. She was sooooo great about accommodating my rushed schedule. At first, she wanted to charge me an extra $10 rush fee but after I threatened to take my business elsewhere she was happy to forgo the extra fee. To say the least she is very patient as we have requested many designs from her over the period of our relationship. We have gone to her for all of our crossing jackets as well as sorority T-shirts, custom jackets/vests. She has even been gracious enough to work under very tight time constraints as we always need things done ASAP. I organize the RAW San Jose art showcases. I wanted to include something unique in the prize packages at this year's annual awards show, and give each of our 9 winners a trophy of some sort, to commemorate their victory. I heard about Polar Bell through a friend of mine, and asked their designer to come up with an award for me. She told me how much it would cost to design 9 different patches from scratch, and when they would be finished. We talked about a sponsorship for my organization, and I am really glad we were able to work out a reasonable price. Over the next week, I received proofs of the design and was really happy with he results. The winning artists were all very glad to receive these unique tokens. I can see why they have lasted for 30 years. The expertise and craft on display at Polar Bell is quite apparent. I also like that their shop, in Japantown, is very easy to get to by light rail. Don't forget to ask about their "patch museum" to see all of the old regalia from martial arts schools to military and marching bands. I was introduced to this place by my big, who brought in a jacket and got the embroidery done here. Mary was very nice, and the price here is pretty decent. She even called me on a Sunday to remind me to pick up my order before the Christmas holidays kick in. However, the one thing I do not like about this place is that on the inside on your jacket of the embroidery, the stitching and linings are pretty ugly/visible, like it does not have a clean finish. The front looks fine, but the other side is pretty ehh. But it is a good place for the price. She charged me an extra $5 for rush order, which I should have tried to bargain and maybe avoided, but whatever. Letters are expensive in general. read more

I unfortunately did not have a great experience here about 1 year ago and I have not been back. I had both a sweatshirt and pillow designed for my sorority, both were off centered and I was told it was because of the italics font (by about 2 inches) The quality overall was okay but I did not receive great service. My pick up date was pushed back twice and when it was finally ready, I waited at the front desk for 10 minutes until I was noticed, the women at the front barely talked to me and didn't say anything or offer any suggestions when I was noticeable displeased about the outcome.
