I am in shock I went to pick up a few pizza and none of there take out employees had masks it was such a unsafe seen I was shocked for them and also us customers sure they had gloves but what goods is that they are taking money and have contact with so many customers if one of them were sick your employers would catch it with out a mask and give it to us which makes me believe the cooks are not wearing masks ether this is a very scary time and you as a business needs to protect us and your employees read more

I went last night for a coworkers 'new beginning' dinner. Everything was good. The service was alright. She disappeared for points at time (we had to get another waiter to get her at one point) I would give more stars but the waitress ended up pocketing my change as whole tip. I ended up leaving to catch a ride home and asked my friend to get the change and leave a tip. The tab was $21 and I gave $40. That's almost a 90% tip. Just had dinner with my son. It's a rainy Sunday. The service was outstanding. I wish I could remember our servers name :( Our meals were delicious and very big portions. we split their Italian wedding soup as an app. We would recommend! The food was unbelievably good. Have lots of options for dinners and drinks. Would recommend it. The problem I did have with it was the desserts. We ordered cannolis and fudge brownie with ice cream. The cannolis weren't even filled. The had a small squirt on the ends and the middle was empty. Yes, totally empty in the middle. You pay $8 for 2 little squirts of filling and all you taste is lemon. The fudge brownie was ice cold like almost frozen. It was hard to cut through and then topped with ice cream. It was not desirable at the least. First of all where do I BEGIN. I LOVE this place and I will say it again, I LOVE THIS PLACE. The staff here is amazing, the drinks are amazing and just the atmosphere itself is amazing. My boyfriend and I have been coming to this restaurant for the past 3 years and I don't regret it at all. I wish I could post the videos I've taken here just to show a little more but this place is everything. COVID really messed things up because I am dying to go back and eat there food. It was our first time coming here and will be our last. My brother in law highly recommended this place, especially for their bread and dip. He must have been high off his mind when he ate here, but food was not as good as he spoke of. First off, we sat down at 7:40pm and within 5 minutes we had our waitress introduce herself and she took our drinks. She came back right away with a booster for my son and drinks and bread and poured dipping sauce after. We ate the bread, talked, ate, and ate and ate... Only to realize 20 mins passed and we had not even ordered our food yet and our waitress never came by or passed us (Mind you, it was not busy). I had to call over, I believe, the manager to take our order. she was quick and diligent. As soon as the manager took our order, the waitress came over, asked if we were all set, and walked away. It took another 20 minutes for our appetizer to arrive. We got steamed mussels. It was good, but should not have taken 20 minutes to arrive. Then we got our food fairly quickly after. My mother just moved here from CT and loves pasta so I wanted her to be impressed. She ordered Seafood Fra Diavolo (her favorite pasta). I ordered Veal Parm with linguine pasta. She took one bite and I heard a crunch crunch. It must have been sand from the mussels and clams. I told her to return it and get the Shrimp fra diavolo instead but she was paranoid someone would spit in her food for pissing them off even though i reassured her they will not do that. I tried her dish and the sauce was good despite the sand, but she said compared to all the other Fra Diavolo she has tried being it her fave dish, this was the worst. There was not enough sauce, sandy, and not spicy at all. My veal.. Let's just say I took a bite, my son took a bite, my mom took a bite and I took the rest to go. It was crispy, but dry. Pasta was very bland and not enough sauce. I had to chug down water because it was so dry. It took us only 15 minutes, MAX 20, to finish all our food. We were kind of rushed at this point because it took so long for the food to come out and my son was going nuts. I had to find someone to find our waitress for our check because after she dropped our food off and asked how everything was, she disappeared again. She came with the check, took my food to pack and did not show up for another 15 minutes. She did offer a complimentary ice cream for my son which calmed him down and that was sweet of her. I really REALLY wanted to leave zero tip because we left the restaurant AT 9PM really annoyed. But I work in a gratuity based job and I used to be a waitress as well so I know it is tough. But honestly, nothing against the sweet waitress, she may have been new, but as a waitress you really need to pay better attention to your clients. They go out to eat and have a good time. But when it ends up being a waiting game over half the night, people are going to leave unhappy. I wish she acknowledged even once and said she was sorry she hasn't shown her face or done her job because she was backed up or something, anything. Summarize: Food is not worth $60 bucks for steamed mussels and 2 entrees. Wait time was ridiculous. Very poor customer service other than the woman who took our order. The bread and dip is just bread and dip (olive oil, paprika, other herbs and spices). Worst money spent in years. I apologize, but I need to be honest. Won't be back again and will not recommend. Polcari's, a 5 star, VIP experience for the taste buds! This place is great! I visited this establishment with a co-worker after traveling in the early morning and then working all day at the office. I was tired, missing my kids and girl at home, and hungry! I walked in to Polcari's and right away I was greeted by Anthony, the general manager. He welcomed me and made me feel like home. A firm handshake, a deep Boston accent, and a shoulder grab! I loved this guy! We sat, had a glass of wine and then the real fun began. Calamari, Mussels, and the Piccata. Sinatra in the background and a friend across from me in the booth as well as a staff that made me feel like I was back at grandmas kitchen table listening to stories of the old days. Just a review for the bar and Regina's Pizza take out! Ordered as soon as we got inside, no line for take out (Friday night so restaurant was pretty busy and groups of people were waiting) and probably took about 15 minutes for 2 large pizzas. Waited at the bar and got some beer super quick, seats opened up for 4 of us, so quick and easy dinner pre-road trip to the lake house in NH. And the pizza was super delicious!! read more

I've been to Polcari's more times than I'd like to admit in the past year, mainly because I'm supposed to be eating less carbs. The portions here are incredible. My girlfriend can easily get 3 meals out of 1 entree; I on the other hand view each entree as a challenge. A challenge that leaves me very uncomfortable afterwards. I mainly stick with their low carb options: Chicken Parmesan, Chicken Picatta, Chicken Florentine, Fettucine Alfredo, etc. My favorite is the Chicken Florentine (chicken breast topped with spinach and mozzarella); Kristina likes the Chicken Picatta (chicken breast, garlic sauce, capers). Every entree I've ordered has come with 2 large chicken breasts, because having 1 large breast would be hella awkward. I've used the online ordering on their website every time. I've only run into one issue where they gave my order to somebody else by mistake and it took an hour for them to remake my original order. In that situation, the manager refunded my entire order. Some people would go on Yelp to rant and rave that they made one mistake. I'd rather focus on how well they handled the situation. My only suggestion would be to offer more protein-centric options like steak and salmon. Then again, it wouldn't be the North Shore if it wasn't primarily Chinese and Italian restaurants. All orders come with a loaf of bread and olive oil dipping sauce because carbohydrates are a drug. read more

Went in a group of 9. Originally was 6 and they were fine about changing reservation 2X within an hour before. I got tagliatelle bolognese and it was great. Can't wait to get it again. Food was good. Our server was nice but not great. My favorite moment was when another server was bumped into my another patron and dumped salad all over me. I was covered including salad in my shirt. A lot of salad. The server never said a word, never asked if I was okay, never brought more napkins. The other patrons were amazed by that also. Every time I come here the service is beyond crap! The staff disappears all the time. The cooks out back must be quite entertaining because the waiters can never be found out front. If you are thirsty and need another drink you are better off going to the bathroom and grabbing a glass from the sink. The food is mediocre. The bread is almost always stale. I typically go there for the Regina pizza. Customers are better off getting takeout. Perhaps they should hire adults and stop hiring pissy teenage brats who think they shit ice cream because there HS drama is "like" way more important than your appetizer that has been sitting under the heat lamp in the kitchen for the past 15 minutes. When we stop there (which is rare) we are quickly reminded of how shitty the service is. read more

Normally I don't like to review places based on the service, but I had the most negative experience that I have ever had while eating out at a restaurant...ever. My friend and I were meeting for dinner here last night. She got there before I did, and was seated. She sat for 10 minutes before I got there and no one approached her. Fine- maybe they were waiting until I got there. Asking her if she wanted a drink while she waited would have been nice. When I got there, we sat for an additional 15 minutes before anyone came over- and only because I stood up and looked around for someone. Mostly, we didn't mind being left alone- we were catching up and our menus were closed. But someone should have come over and at least greeted us! Our server came over and asked if we wanted some drinks and some bread. We ordered 2 bottled beers & yass please to some bread. When she came back with our drinks, we put in an order for the Mozzarella Triangles. She came back with those very quickly- less than 5 minutes. She then asked us if we were ready to order dinner. We said we weren't, and she told us "Not a problem! I'll come check later." In total seriousness, she came back every 2 to 3 minutes after that asking what we wanted to order, if we were going to order, should she take our menus...! She was not happy with us- and we couldn't really figure out why. She seemed very nice and understanding of us up until this point...So we ordered some more appetizers, gave her our menus, and ordered 2 more bottled beers. She came back with 2 beers, one of which was half empty! HALF EMPTY. I was like, oh, this one must have spilled or something- and I tried to hand it back to her, and she said "nope. I saw him open it myself" and walked away from the table. Um, Ok. Even if that were true- why would you serve your customer a half empty bottles beer? I took a sip of it, and it was of course flat, so I tried to wave her down to bring me another one. She wouldn't make eye contact with us, and just left the area. We couldn't find anyone else for a solid 5 minutes. At this point, I'll pay for the stupid beer, but bring me a fresh one that I can enjoy! We finally brought it over to the hostess, who apologized and said she would bring us a new one. Then our server comes running back to our table with the half empty beer and asked me, "so, what do you want me to do with this?" I said, "I'm not drinking this- it's not full and its flat! I would just like you to bring me a new one." She brings over a capped beer, holds it in front of my face, takes her bottle opener out of her pocket and holds that in my face, and said, "okkkkk. WATCH me open your beer myself." Then she slammed the beer on the table and walked away. We asked for the manager, who told us she was sorry for the servers behavior, and would send someone else over to take care of us. Since we didn't order anything else, all our new server had to do was bring us our check, which was full price. I do feel bad for ragging on a restaurant based on it's service- because it's not necessarily everyone else's fault that she was having a terrible night- but I don't go out to eat to be made fun of, I don't go out to eat so my server can treat me like garbage, and I don't go out to eat to pay for beers that aren't fresh and full. Tried to order a sit down dinner for myself and then take home a pizza for my kids, the manager said she couldn't do that because "the server wouldn't get the tip on the pizza." And then she said it was against MA law. I even offered to have my wife call the pizza in separately but she wouldn't allow it. Horrible Lunch ! First of the sever said they have no bread to serve even though their suppose to be famous for their specialty olive oil . She didn't even apologize or offer anything in its place . I ordered garlic which I had to pay for .. not good .. I ordered chicken Parmesan it's was awful, dry definitely frozen and the bread crumbs were yellow and gross . My husband ordered Veal Parmigiana that was okay but he felt sick after eating it . We didn't complain and we ate most of it because we were starving after traveling all day . I love Polcari's for all it's tackiness and loud patrons, . It's definitely a family place with plenty of birthday events. Manfriend's own family used to drag him here a lot growing up. The waitstaff is sweet and handles crowded nights well. I've had my orders messed up a handful of times but they were always very apologetic and rushed to fix it (forgotten soup, mixed up salad request, forgotten drink.) While we don't come here expecting a 5-star experience, we do expect delicious bread and spicy oil, yummy pasta sauce, giant portions, and reasonable prices. Don't try seafood entrees here, it gets overcooked easily. Do try the calamari, sausage cavatappi, and chicken parm (it should automatically come with a doggy bag. this thing is huge!) read more

I've lived in the general "North of Boston" area for nearly 15 years and I made my first visit to Polcari's a few weeks ago. And I have to admit that I didn't go for Polcari's food but for the Pizzaria Regina pizza they serve. The pizza was fantastic, well done, and had awesome fresh topping that tasted great. We were very happy with our pizza. The crust was fantastic, crispy and chewy in all the right ways. The bread we were served before we ordered was slightly stale. Service was.... Okay. We were there on a Sunday afternoon and they clearly had their B-team off the bench. Anyway, the waitress was okay, if absent. Of course, how attentive shoudl a waitress be for a table that ordered a pizza? From what I could tell, most of the other tables had pizza as well. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here again, there are other places I can get Regina's pizza closer to home. Since I rarely go out for Italian (why go out for something that won't be as good as what I can make at home?) this would be on the bottom of my "Places to go for Italian" list. I don't know what all the complaining about Polcari's is. Yeah, it's a chain...so it's obviously not going to be mama's home cooking...unless someone perfected cloning. But the prices are reasonable for the large portions you get and the service is really good. I ordered a side order of meatballs and an eggplant rolaltini (from the app menu) and I had to take most of it home, it was that big. My fiance ordered the stuffed mushrooms from the app menu and the tuscan ravioli (which were delicious), but again, he took most of it home. So i come here all the time and love it. I usually get the fet alfredo and this time i wanted to try something different. I was ordering take out and when I called a lady picked up and i told her i wanted to get takeout so she laughed and told me to hold on, then another lady came to the phone. I ordered the chx parm and instead of the pasta and red sauce on the side i asked if my chicken can have the red sauce but on my pasta i wanted fetticini sauce. The lady told me it was going to be around 30 dollars. i asked why and she told me she had to charge me for the sauce. The first thing I wanted when I got off the plane at Logan was east coast pizza. I'm sick of crap pizza in SF and asked my dad to stop at the first place on Rte. 1 where I could get pizza. So, we rolled in Polcari's--at 10:45pm on a Wednesday. Nobody is around at the register or in the restaurant. So, I bat my eyelashes at the bartender and ask if there's any way I could still get some pizza. He told me the kitchen was closed. I asked again, getting somewhat desperate, but was given the same answer. I stormed out grumpy and disenchanted. Fast forward two days later--we watch the Celtics kick Philly's ass at the whatever-corporate-bullshit-name-it's-being-called-now Garden and I still felt a whole in my life due to lack of pizza. On the way back home, we stopped here, at 10:45pm. But, it was a Friday---I could get pizza! Unfortunately, our order took forever and, when we got our pizza, it was lukewarm. During that time, we watched the bar scene--which just made me glad I moved away from here. It seems like they have no notification system, that the pizza gets made and just sits in the kitchen forever and there's nobody committed to bringing them out to the customers. But, in the end, it was pretty good pizza and, for the time being, satisfied my pizza craving. read more

I can't stop raving about Polcari's! Four years ago my boyfriend and I decided to go out on our first date, the closest place was Polcari's. We went in and had amazing service and delicious food. Two weeks ago he reserved the same booth and proposed to me there. Our waitress, Nicole, helped keep his secret throughout the night and was by far the best waitress we've ever had anywhere! First thing I noticed was the awesome Fiestaware used here. Love that. Second, the bread and dipping oil. Yum. I ordered the Mediterranean pizza. Seriously? Best pizza I've had ever! Crispy flat crust was perfect and it had both green and black olives. I did a little happy dance when I found capers on my pie too. I might have to make this my new place for pizza take-out. My boyfriend got the Chicken Florentine and a side of meatballs, but ended up canceling the meatballs because there was NO way he could finish even the chicken dish. My only complaint about Polcari's is that the food's too good to stop eating, even if you're overly stuffed. First came the rolls and olive oil. As usual, it's difficult to not eat these without stopping. We started with the antipasto appetizer and it was oh so delicious, but maybe it's cause I'm a sucker for cold cuts. For an entree, I had the bolognese lasagna. At this point, I was too uncomfortable to further eat, but I pushed on to only be able to eat 1/4 of my dish. My other two friends ordered a Margherita pizza. I had a slice myself, and it just made me melt into my seat. Our server was an Italian guy, muscular and intimidating, yet very nice and humorous. I like the food here, I really do. But the service is somewhat lacking. Our server had the requisite charm and speed, but something was off. I think it boiled down to the fact that I ordered goat cheese on my pizza, and was told that they didn't have it. I told the server that I had seen it on the menu moments earlier, and he argued with me. I finally, stuck my finger on said ingredient on the menu, and he looked at me doubtfully, saying he'd check if they had it. A server should know the menu. I understand completely if the person is new and has to ask, but arguing with the customer is not very cool. The pizza, while not having that same je ne sais quoi of Regina's, was still quite tasty, and I'll come back. Oh, and my martini was just ok. EDIT: Went back again. Our babyfaced server spilled Coke all over my partner. This wouldn't have been a big deal, but she didn't seem too bothered by the fact that he was soaked and sticky (hint: an "I'm sorry" would have sufficed). She screwed up our order and pretty much ignored us. Polcari's has great pizza; like, really great pizza. But the service sucks.
