We went to Polcari's in Woburn, Ma on our way home from a vaca. We were hungry and the GPS lead us to what is now one of our favorite places! Our first imprerssion...the parking lot was full, as crowded as it was, we rec'd a prompt, friendly greeting and were seated nearly rigjt away. The decor and atmosphere was as inviting and warm as our welcome. There are sooo many pizza's to choose from. we put our faith in our waiter who knew his stuff and was able to suggest the exact pizza we were looking for! The dipping oil was so good we asked for more! We even bought a bottle to take home! My family and I live closer to the Salem NH Polcari's and go there for our pizza nighst I. also go there for Wed. kareoke and Thurs Trivia w/ a large froup of friends for birthday celebrations. They sure do know how to treat their customers!! The food, service and atmosphere are all unbeatable. I am vegetarian and love their signature salad and , besides the delish pizza, have had some delish apps and dishes!! I am addicted to their dipping oil! It has a little bite to it that makes it just right! I always have a bottle of it in my fridge! I use it on bread, pasta, stuffed mushrooms....the pizza I eat when I'm cheating on Polcari's :) Weather it's for a family gathering or a friends special event, Polcari's is the place to go!! Be careful not to fill up on the delicious salads and fresh bread! Save lots of room for the entrees. They're varied and delicious. My only complaint (and it's a nit) - somebody needs to put some serious thought into the parking lot. I've been craving Italian food, mostly pasta, and wanted to venture out into the North End of Boston. My friend suggested we just go to Polcari's because it was a shorter distance at the time. I've never been so it was my first time there. The customer service was so welcoming and friendly. The wait for the food was acceptable, not too short nor too long. They are also kid friendly (for anyone wondering). Highly recommend as a family dinner and just a night out to eat and chill. read more

We ordered curbside takeout last night. We waited less than a minute for someone to bring our food out to us. We ordered pizza, pasta and some apps and spicy oil. Polcari's serves generous portions of ok Italian dishes (a wide variety of soups, salads, apps, panini, pastas, calzones, & their Pizzeria Regina brand pizzas). They serve lunch, dinner, take-out: pick-up, curbside, or office delivery, catering, private functions, & online ordering. Check their schedule for live entertainment. Their bar is open Sunday, Monday and Tuesday until Midnight. Wednesday and Thursday we're open until 1AM and Friday and Saturday until 2AM. The Chicken Parmesan (10.99/16.50) served over linguine--standard, but enjoyable. And, for 16.50, The Chiaffettoni (ski-uf-fet-tony ) was a generous dish of jumbo rigatoni tossed in a rich sauce of sweet caramelized onions, toasted walnuts, fresh spinach and a garlic cream sauce. Ok, but we'd like to try these w/their rich Alfredo Sauce. They do cook to order. They have so many different things going on, & the place is huge so service can seem slow, but is usually friendly. Don't expect to be treated like a valued customer here. We asked for a simple substitution of sausage for pepperoni on their "Classic" pizza. "That will be a $3+ upcharge" we were informed. What a gouge! (That's a 15+% upcharge on an already not inexpensive $20+ pizza.) And, the manager didn't even blink at enforcing that "MANAGEMENT POLICY" when we discussed it with her. I've been eating at Regina's Pizza whenever the opportunity presented itself for almost 50 years, since I was a grad student in Boston, and touting their pizza as the best--and I've traveled the world. Their pizza is still pretty good, though it has gone downhill somewhat. I've been here for various events and functions throughout the past few years but my girlfriend and I haven't been here for an actual sit down dinner, so last night we're driving up route one and decided to stop in and grab something to eat. We get in and it's run incredibly slow, they make you wait in line because they only have one person waiting tables. We sit down and wait maybe 15 minutes to get a drink and the people next to us got there drinks before us, so I was about to walk out but decided to see if it would get better but it didn't, not even a little. We get sat in the kids room basically, every table had a table with bratty little screaming kids. The waitress even said "you must have pissed someone off to get out in here" thanks, don't move us. The calzone that we got was a chicken parm calzone, which was basically all cheese, it was so greasy and just unappetizing and this is coming from the least pickiest eater ever. read more

Honestly, I used to HATE Polcari's. If someone suggested going there I instantly shot the idea down. I had some terrible experiences there with rubbery eggplant and overcooked chicken. It seemed as though I could never win. Well, I take back everything bad I've ever said about them!! Last week, after 3 years of avoiding them, I broke down and gave them a shot. I was looking for somewhere to get takeout that night. My parents were both home sick and I offered to bring them dinner. They wanted italian and I wanted somewhere that had takeout that was on my route home. I decided to go there because they had what my dad was craving. Anyway, the food ended up being friggin' amazing. The pasta I got had carmelized onions and sausages in a tomato cream sauce and it was honestly one of the best pasta dishes I've had in years from any restaurant. To make sure it wasn't a fluke I tasted my parents dishes which were equally perfect. It was a little pricy for takeout, but considering it's mainly a sitdown place, I would call the prices moderate, and if everything is as great as what we had, then it's more than worth the price paid. I'm only giving 4 stars until I go again and prove to myself that they have in fact inproved this much in 3 years. read more

This place has the best pizza! My family and I used to go there every Sunday for pizza and it was always phenomenal. We still go there after special occasions and it always accommodates us. Everything on the menu is amazing not just the pizza. It is great for kids they have menus to color on, word searches, and so much more! It reminds you of the north end without being too dressy. There is also takeout and delivery which is great because now you can have their amazing pizza anytime! I've been here a few times over the years always with a big group and the pizza has always been fantastic! The service last night was especially great, dealing with all of our special requests in a friendly and timely fashion. The 4 cheese pizza is heavy and very filling, but delicious and the pizza with eggplant and red onion was so flavorful. All their pizza has fluffy, thick crust which is a favorite of mine. So, I'm not in love with the food... But, I am relieved to say that the service has significantly improved since the last time I went for a sit-down meal at Polcari's. Parking was a bit hard to find for an early Thursday evening. However, once walking into the restaurant, we were greeted by management and escorted us to our booth. Our server, Nicole, is probably the coolest waitresses I've ever encountered! What a phenom! She knows how to treat her guests to 100% satisfaction. Sometimes, you'll have servers who are pretty dim. -Not Nicole! She's got swagger and intelligence. She even fed us answers to Thursday night STUMP! Trivia Night. Kudos to her! Polcari's is one of my favorite places to go even with any downfalls. First off, the Pizza! I don't even bother with their other food. The pizza is so delicious! My favorite is meatball, onions, and extra cheese. To accompany the pizza or when you just need a strong drink, the Limoncello Martini's made with the CREAMY Limoncello is the way to go. I emphasize the creamy because that is the way it is supposed to be made as stated in the menu. However, I have had issues where they try to pass off some poor version of a Lemon Drop Martini, and it is just not the same. But anytime I have been delivered the incorrect martini they have taken care of it. They may not be happy about it, but they deal with it! The Live Music on Friday and Saturday nights in the lounge is another reason I love Polcari's. The music is really great, and there is s dance floor! I love to dance, but I hate places where drunken idiots are splashing beer around and bashing into you. You will not find that here. I think because it tends to be an older crowd. No one really bothers you and you can just do your own thing and chill. I do wish that they stayed open later, but I assume that is some ruling with Saugus that they can't or whatever. They are usually kicking people out by 1:00AM. The service in the longue can be slow, but genuinely friendly. In my opinion as far as places on Route 1 are concerned this is by far the best spot! Went her last Friday evening around 7 PM. Place was packed - as is every other place in existence on at 7PM on a weekend. The wait wasn't too bad for 2 people - about 20 minutes or so. Seat was ok. Waitress was all right. Food was - not bad. I got a pasta dish - I can't remember the name but it had a lot of onions. And normally I can handle anything since I have a stomach of iron but many of the onions weren't cooked, and it gave me an upset stomach that night big time. I only ate half the dish - portions are pretty big. The woman got the ravioli in alfredo sauce which tasted oddly sweet - which was ok as it had sweet onions but I could swear they added too much sugar when caramelizing the onions.... not good. Kinda gross. There is some kinda bar attached to this restaurant which had a band setting up or playing and it was so loud, it made it hard to hold a conversation over dinner. This place isn't bad in a pinch, but I wouldn't go out of your way for it. read more

Delish! I ate here with a group of about 20 people (half adults/ half children 8-12) after a gymnastics meet at MIT (Not particularly close to MIT but it was on our way home to NH). It was a Sunday evening at about 8pm and it was packed! The atmosphere is great. To start off, fresh bread with dipping oil is served. The oil was delicious with a bit of red pepper to add a little "bite." The serving sizes were generous, and the menu options were great. My wife and I go out for dinner a lot. Last night we went to Polcari's. The bread, oil and hot pepper flakes were wonderful. We had the mussels as an appetizer and it was delicious. She got the chicken parm which was good but a little burnt. She ate it anyway so it wasn't too bad. I had a cheese pizza which is always great and one of the best around. We are trying to do our part to support the local restaurants during the COVID19 situation so we called Polcari's this weekend. Realizing that takeout is not the same as dining in we always lower the expectations a bit but two of the three meals we bought were so subpar I felt I had to say something. Both were "signature dishes" so we thought we were in for a treat but not so much. Mine was Chicken Cavatappi. The cavatappi was alright but the chicken was ridiculously hard and dry... so I thought until my wife had me try hers! She had the Capellini Caprese another " signature dish" and she added chicken with it. Her Capelli Caprese was flavorless and the chicken was so tough and dry as if it had been precooked,overcooked and then overcooked again. We have ordered from and dined in at Polcari's Saugus many times in the over the years without a complaint so hopefully this was just an aberration. The menu is loaded with all the Italian dishes that we all love. The portions are very generous and the pizza is the best in the Boston area. They also have bands in the bar area every weekend. I've been going to this establishment off and on for a few years now. Back in High School I used to take my girlfriends here on a first date because I thought it was the "classy Italian" thing to do. Ha! Needless to say, it brings back nostalgic memories. From what I remember, the seating area is huge, you can fit gigantic parties of (most likely) around 20 people in here no problem (most likely on one long table too). Graduations, wedding rehearsal dinners, etc. they can accomodate all. As for the food, the portions are gigantic as well. Very good Chicken Parm there from what I remember. Waitstaff was always very nice and curteous. I like the fact that they have a pizza place attached to it as well that you can take out or eat in the bar area. All around this is a nice place to go for dinner if you like italian food and you're heading northbound on Rt. 1 in Saugus. Unfortunately, I always ended up breaking it off with the women I took there (but that's just me).
