First I can't say enough about the salads Ellie's has to offer, delicious, high quality ingredients, fast delivery and great portions, but I need to speak to the most amazing experience I have ever had as a customer in my 43 years. I ordered from Ellie's as I do often and decided to try a new order and got myself a gluten free pizza. The pizza arrived overcooked as I'm sure happens with gluten free items, but it was too hard to chew. I love Ellie's so I figured I'd let them know casually through Facebook. No expectations to hear back, not wanting anything but to let them know for future customers. I'm a committed customer so one order out of many, many orders not being 100% plus, was not going to change my opinion. But-not only did I hear back from a Facebook message immediately, but the owner insisted on bringing me a new one. I declined the offer as I did not have the cash to tip a delivery person as I had tipped on my card for the original order. He insisted no tip was needed and my new pizza would arrive shortly. Not only did I received a new perfectly cooked pizza but was offered dessert items and a refund! Annnnd it was dropped off by the owner who personally apologized, shook my hand and thanked me for my information! I mean what business is that dedicated to its customers? It was above and beyond making it "right", it was personal, genuine and felt real and authentically neighborly. In a time when division and dissatisfaction is the default I can honestly say this reminded me there are still good people doing good things for no other reason than it's just the kind thing to do. It was Sunday night. I'd been craving pizza for a few weeks. Not many options on Sunday evening. I ended up ordering from Ellie's Pizza (on DoorDash). The timing and delivery were ecxellent. On the other hand, I think this was the worst pizza I have ever attempted to eat. I took 2 bites - one of just the topping. One that included the soggy crust. I ordered it well done, as that will generally get crust that doesn't collapse. This looked well done, the top was actually crunchy (maybe a bit overdone-but I can't complain about that, I asked for well done). Yet the crust was like a limp dishrag. The meat on the pizza was awful. The red sauce was bland. Should have saved my $$ and had leftovers from the fridge. Anyway, if Ellie's Pizza is your only option, I'd skip it. read more

Like probably many, we started ordering home food delivery much more frequently at the start of the pandemic and while we tried several in Beverly using an app called Slice, we always came back to Ellie's. And we still order at least 2x a week. The salads, sandwiches, dinners and sides are especially delicious. We don't order the pizza that often but our son does and loves it. The menu gets updated occasionally which is a plus. The food and service is phenomenal. We've never had a mistake once. The Slice app has over 3K reviews and they're all 5-star. read more

what the hell happened to the chicken broccoli and ziti. I remember first ordering it 3 years ago and it was the meal that got me through the pandemic. I mean I was eating that 3 days a week. 3 years ago the sauce was creamy and it covered that pasta, the chicken was cooked to perfection, well marinated and juicy. I got it very recently and I was so disappointed that the best thing on the menu has gotten so bad. Be careful. Although I have always been happy that changed today. I ordered a Caesar salad, delivery. When it got here I was told it was twenty dollars. I was stunned and paid it plus a five dollar tip. I called an hour later and asked the price of this salad and told the total price was eleven dollars and change and that was written on the slip. The man who delivered showed me a yellow slip with $20- written in black marker. The owner told me their slips are blue which I recall now too. The guy kept the yellow slip. In retrospect, the bill is always stapled on the bag. They offered first, my eight dollar change to be returned. Then it was an eight dollar credit for next time. I've been going to this spot (in its many incarnations and owners) for a long time, mostly because it's close. The people are nice, very polite and gracious. The food is good but it's not consistently good. This could be better with a couple of changes. For instance, I often order the Greek wrap and occasionally it's excellent. However, last week's was a disappointment. The chicken was gristly and was not white meat. The tomatoes were a crime. It's tomato season yet theirs were the bland, tasteless, hot house variety and that made a huge difference. I'd rather have no tomatoes than those abominations. Lastly, there was very little feta cheese to offset those disappointing items. What is frustrating is that this could be changed with: #1: tender chicken #2: "real" tomatoes, #3: a decent amount of feta. If I hadn't had a good Greek wrap here, I wouldn't bother mentioning it, I just wouldn't come back. But I have and I know they can do better. read more

My roommates and I ordered three separate sandwiches for the afternoon. Two of the three sandwiches sent to us had problems. One was the wrong order, the other was a panini with soggy bread. We called back and the hostess informed us that we would be brought two new sandwiches, one with the correct order and one without soggy bread. The delivery man only brought us the mistaken order, so we called again. The hostess then informed us that the bread is supposed to be soggy and if we want a new one we will have to pay! We had our first experience with Ellie's yesterday for lunch. I really wanted to like it but was disappointed for a few reasons. I got a cheeseburger sub and found a piece of wax paper grilled into the bottom of my burger.. I realize this could happen to anyone and was an accident, but there were other issues too. They put our subs into plastic take out containers, which I thought were nice until we went to eat our subs. The rolls were so mushy from condensation I had to take most of my sub apart. Our son had chicken salad and it was very bland. My husband liked his steak sub minus the mushy bun, and commented that the renovations of the place looked good. We may try the pizza at some point but will pass on the subs :( read more

They will make exactly what you want - alter something that is on the menu, or tell them something that isn't on the menu - if they have the ingredients you'll get it! I like White Pizza. We've lived in Beverly since 1983 and there must be 30+ pizza (and salad/subs/etc) establishments and I know because we've tried nearly all of them but once we found Ellie's, it's the only place we order from. The food is top notch. Everything is made fresh and "to order," meaning that there are no pre-made items so any item can be customized with no problem or additional cost. The entire staff is beyond courteous and professional. We used to order (for delivery) at least once a week but since COVID 19, it's been 2-3 times/week. Highly recommend! read more
