I've been to the Polcari's in Woburn and it was a good experience. We happened to be in the area and decided to come here for a late lunch. We customized our pizza, but they also offered cool already-existing options on their menu. We had a half sun-dried tomato + basil / half sun-dried tomato + basil + eggplant one. We also had an order of calamari (~$10), which came with diced pepperoncini peppers with marinara sauce and a spicy pepper sauce for dipping. Our order came with a small, round loaf of bread with olive oil dipping sauce. Our pizza was yummy, but a little dry. I loved the eggplant additions because they were breaded and cut into bite-sized, rectangular pieces. They went a little overboard with the sun-dried tomatoes, which made it a bit tiring to eat after awhile. I loved the basil leaves, but I could've used more! The calamari was yummy. It's not your usual overly-chewy rings- they were tender, bite-sized, and nicely breaded. I loved the peppers. Pair it with a calamari ring for a harmonious combination. We had plenty left over! Our takeout order took a little longer than the expected twenty minutes. The staff members seemed very kind! Once your pizza order arrives, they open up the box for you so you can check your pizza (to see if it's made the way you like) before leaving, which is nice! read more

We showed up for dinner and the wait was 30 minutes. But no wait for a seat at the bar! We quickly found 2 seats and got a couple of menus. We shared the mussels and the salad was for her. I took these pictures while I was waiting for my large pizza. The pizza was delicious and half gone when I remembered that I didn't take a picture of it. It was delicious! This place is right on Rt. 1 and I stop here just about every time I drive back to Portland. Very good food. read more

I went on a Tuesday night, and it was family kids night. The kids eat free! They had magic mike and Jenny the juggler there. Magic mike went around the tables and did the balloons and Jenny painted face and juggled. Bring cash because they are awesome and accept tips. Good sport and really good with the kids and adults because we adults got balloon crowns. Wasn't really happy with the entree I got, the seafood fra diavolo was over cooked. For $20 I thought it was going to be really good but I should of known from a franchised restaurant. The chicken tenders for the kids were really well flavored and moist. Should of gotten that. If you go there I suggest you order pizza. They have really good pizza! And you can't go wrong with Pizza! read more

Ordered at barfor take out. While waiting we ordered mozzarella triangles. We expected fried mozzarella ( moz sticks, moz moons etc) but got a deep fried grilled cheese!! I asked for menu to make sure I didn't miss the description - no mention of bread "mozzarella, marinated in pesto with marinara on the side"??? Was a seriously greasy, deep fried sandwich that I opened and scraped out a very small piece of cheese. Completely bait and switch advertising.( don't they have to mention the bread?) Got home and pizzas were not much better. I've always loved pizzeria Regina and eat it in Boston a lot. This was not the pizza I am used to - thin chewy crust, quality toppings and generous cheese. What I got was a doughy, undercooked, bread, very little cheese, and prosciutto that look like chunks of Boiled ham. As I waited for my food, I looked at other customers dishes. Almost everything looked overdone- chicken fingers over fried and too dark, potatoes that looked a day old, really bad antipasto (was so glad I didn't order) and garlic bread that look like a greasy half of a sub roll. It felt like this restaurant has been going downhill for a while but this was my last visit. Can think of so many places to spend $120 where the food will be edible!! read more

I don't know, Polcari's has been around since I was a kid and it hasn't changed. Literally, hasn't changed one bit and I'm thirty now. I DON'T KNOW. It's literally a blast from the past coming here. We had been there years ago for a big family dinner and decided to stop in for a quick lunch. Everyone loved their meals. The portion sizes are HUGE, even for lunch. The Chicken Parm sandwich was perfection, and the rolls served beforehand are delicious. My mom has celiac disease, and she said they had the best gluten free pizza she has ever tried. That's high praise -- she tries all the gluten free pizza, everywhere, and is NEVER impressed. Everything was clean, and the service was friendly and efficient. No complaints! read more

Our last visit was truly that. We ordered lasagna and a sausage dinner with peppers and onions. The lasagna was awful it was drowned in red sauce and was not worth the almost $18 cost. Some of the salads, etc have been removed from the menu. The decor is bland and dated. Our waiter (Robert) informed us we were his first customers. He was uninterested in waiting on us. I ordered chicken piccata which was very good my son ordered a shrimp dish which was good, but my husband ordered veal parmigiana which was over cooked dry and too crispy, not enough cheese and sauce which turned out to be upsetting. Service was great, the only upset was the veal. read more

The restaurant cancled our Grubhub order (which we placed early at 4:30 PM) after they made us wait 4 hours. We called them several times strarting at the 1.5 hour mark and remained uninformed as to what happened with our order. They kept repeating how there was a long wait time of 2 hours... meanwhile we have already waited two hours. Then we call at the 3 hour mark and try to convince us to cancel our order. Then we called again at 3 and a half hours and now they say they lost the order. Finally we get a call from Grubhub... not even the restaurant..... that our order has been so kindly cancled on our behalf due to their mistakes. We ordered TWO things.... on mothersday... now the entire evening is ruined and everything is closed because they jerked us around for 4 hours. Very disappointing, and they did nothing to help us other than keep us hostage to their unprofessionalism. Enjoying Mcdonads while I write this! I'd never go to Polcari's or support a restaurant that does this to people.... read more

I just ate there for the first time on 6/3/06, and I am still in shock. I had the Shrimp Orchiette (spelling may be different), and it was HEAVENLY. My bf had the Spicy Sausage Cavatappi, and he almost passed out. The appetizers are great (I recommend the Eggplant Rollatini), but even if you do not get any, the bread and the great olive oil mix they serve (spicy and sweet at the same time) will definitely whet your appetite. Oh, and I also really loved the docents(?) Mafia-esqe outfits...MOLTO BENE!!! Oh, and if you like live bands, you should definitely go to the Saugus Polcari's on Fri-Sun nights. The bands play everything from Jimmy Buffet to top-40 hits. It is tons of fun, even though the crowd may not always be in the 20-something set. This being my wifes favorite restaurant to go to, and being quite inebriated after an event in Boston, I wasn't going to argue. What I have always enjoyed about the place is the decor: images of an Italian neighborhood on the walls with neon-lighting and exposed brick. The hostess' are dressed the part in sharp suit attire and usually a hat. Servers in a standard all-black attire. We were seated fairly quickly for a Saturday night which was nice. What stuck out like a sore thumb was how dirty the dining room floor was. It mostly looked like small bits of paper, which is confusing because the restaurant uses linen napkins. It could just be it was nearing the end of the night and they were busy. Our server was pleasant, we had the dipping oil poured out for us... but never got our bread. I always enjoy that fresh baked roll coming out hot on the board with the knife in it. We got our orders in, then the apperizer came out and at that point why bother asking? Why bother pouring out oil on the plate when theres no bread to dip it? I ordered an espresso. It was good, I just didnt enjoy the coffee grounds in it. My wife enjoyed the fried ravioli's. They were good, the marinara was a little thin and watery so it was difficult to dip and scoop without making a mess. We got our meals, my wife ordered her chicken parm with alfredo (instead of marinara). I got the schiaffetoni. It was very good, I like garlic and caramelized onions. I just wish I had bread to soak up the sauce it was that good. read more

Great American Italian food. Very good pizza, be sure to ask for extra crispy. The meatball calzone was crazy flavorful and a good pleasing crust. Meatball was a bit hard and could use some sauce love. Chicken parm was very welcoming, nicely thin and crisp with a delicious crust. And the cannoli was deliciously citrus kissed. Horrible... all soy! Went to a graduation party there this past weekend, informed them I had a soy allergy. They told me there was not one thing that I could have that didn't have soy oil or soy flour. They call themselves an Italian restaurant, ya right. Ask any Italian if they cook with soy. Disgusting. But yet, they are not having any supply issues charging customers without lousy garlic bread. If you want to be miserly, that's your prerogative, but don't insult the customers' intelligence. A BLAST FROM THE PAST has been found in here - SONNY BONO of Sonny & Cher Famous Light Pink 3 Piece Bell Bottom Suit from the 1970's is hanging on the wall. You've got to come here & check this out. When you step inside this Old World Italian American restaurant/Pizzeria you'll feel the Throwback vibe & know they have been dishing out Italian American food for decades on Rt. 1 in Saugus MA. You'll see the Old Wine Press, an Old Fashioned Telephone Booth, old wooden Church pews & other items from past decades. The restaurant has dark woods & a checkerboard floor in a spacious large floor plan. They also have a bar inside the restaurant. They have another smaller room where they have bands sometimes or a DJ , a small Dance Floor & another bar. You've got to check the smaller room out & see what's inside here. There is lot of Music & TV Memorabilia hanging on the walls. There's a huge glass collage of many artists including Lucy O'Ball, Elvis, Ed Sullivan & many others. we went to Polcari's last night, and got seated right away. now, that was the only positive about being there. Waitress after waitress just walked past our table. When we tried to flag someone down as they passed, they looked straight ahead and kept on walking. One waitress brought drink orders to tables all around us, and after she finished serving them we tried to wave her down, she then walked out the back. After close to 20 minutes, we left and went to Angela's where I guess they value their customers. We've gone to and ordered take out often from Polcari's but after this experience, I PROMISE to never go near that place ever again. read more

This review is for Polcari's take out only. On Sunday afternoon, I had the pleasure of dining on pizza from Polcari's. My parents can be a bit snobbish about the pizza they'll eat, and they prefer it to taste like the Italian pizza they grew up eating in Revere. We were all pleased with Polcari's pizza. Upon ordering, they even ask you if you want the pizza crust regular or well done! I tried the veggi pizza and enjoyed it. I would have preferred that different veggies be added to the pizza though. Visited today snd had the most horrible experience. First we put our name in 3 parties ahead of us, No problem. WIting over 30 minutes several parties came in after us and were seated. So my sister enquired why we hadn't been sat and the hostess and host who were not very professional couldnt be bothered to hear us but a person getting takeout jumped right in and ascosted us for being a "Karen" wow no idea why she would get involved but once again host and hostess didn't step in. it Was just a all around disappointing visit. I am in shock I went to pick up a few pizza and none of there take out employees had masks it was such a unsafe seen I was shocked for them and also us customers sure they had gloves but what goods is that they are taking money and have contact with so many customers if one of them were sick your employers would catch it with out a mask and give it to us which makes me believe the cooks are not wearing masks ether this is a very scary time and you as a business needs to protect us and your employees read more
