My friend wants to pick up some deli meats for the storm at Costco, Kroger, and Whole Foods. Whole Foods was all chaos. Visited the Polish Food Store & Deli after going to the Polish Heritage Festival. So interesting. Felt like I had flown to Poland. So many different kinds of sausages, pirogies and blintzes. Cabbage, potato and cheese, kraut and mushroom pirogies. Apple, raspberry and cheese, chocolate, hazelnut and cheese blintzes Lots of fresh meats and cheeses. If it can be pickled, there is a whole aisle of choices. Lots of Polish dill pickles. Sauerkraut. Beets. Vegetables. Craving borscht/red beetroot soup? They have you covered. Garnish with sour cream, parsley and black sesame seeds. Need a sweet treat to balance all of the savory flavors? Check out the aisles filled with cookies, biscuits and European chocolates. I parked in front of the store in the handicap because I'm handicap being polish and the Polish festival I thought I can park there well I was considered and I went in and told the man that I had parked there in the handicap he started screaming at me telling me I can't park there because that's for store parking I was trying to go to the Polish festival which was right across the street and there was no parking so I just saw the handicap and I thought it would be okay it's really a damn shame the way he treated me was awful I'm still going to call the disability act and let them know because I should be able to park wherever it's handicapped no matter where it's at it was a horrible experience and I'll never never buy any food there and I have bought a lot of food I hope everybody in the world sees this how horrible he treats handicapped people God bless you and God bless your family read more

Nice speciality grocery store with a deli section for some speciality meat and cheese. There are also grocery for Europe here. The staff here are very helpful answer all the question I had at the time. It a very unique grocery store. If you are in the area, it is worth to check out and try something new here. read more

The environment seemed pretty authentic to me. If you like to eat sausages, you need to shop here. My Polish coworker recommended you buy the fresh sausages behind the window display and not the prepacked sausages in the fridge. I bought the forest sausage and it tasted undisputed and non-greasy when cooked on the stove. The staff appeared welcoming here. They have a variety of European snacks. My friend was visiting from out of state and wanted to visit this store. She is originally from Poland and is unable to find polish goods in her home state. We popped in Saturday and loaded up on a variety of items. She bought farmers cheese, variety of sausages, lots of jarred veggies (mainly pickles), pierogis, and many chocolates. It was bigger inside than I expected. She said the selection was pretty good and she seemed happy with her purchases. To be fair, I am not sure what cost of goods would run elsewhere as this was the first Polish store we had been in but we will definitely be back for another visit. This is more about paczki day than anything** I come here once a year on Fat Tuesday(Paczki day) to pick up a half dozen or so paczkis. Wife is from Detroit, which has a large Polish poptulation arond Hamtramack, and missed paczkis dearly upon moving to Houston. This is the only place I've found them, and while they only come in traditional flavors each year(rose and a custard) they are pretty amazing. I don't normally touch creme filled anything, but these golden brown bombs of delicious-ness certainly are devine. The women that work here are gruff and a little scary, but likely very busy with people coming in to pick up all their orders. To their defense, I feel like they become a little more welcoming each year I stop in to see them, even if it's only once a year. They do also sell a ton of polish groceries and food things in general. Definitely check dates if that concerns you, as they arent that busy a store, but if you have questions don't be scared to ask. I've always gotten a prompt response, even if it's a little brash. read more

My grandparents are from Poland and we moved to Houston a couple of years ago. We tried this place for the first time after my grandma died. Awful the Pączki were dry and the pierogi were frozen incorrectly, we couldn't even cook them. Normally I wouldn't care but I spent $80 on 12 donuts and 2 packs of pierogi. You can find many Polish staples here including frozen pierogi from Chicago. Do try their delicious paczki (Polish doughnuts with filling) if they're available! You can order paczki from them for Fat Tuesday/Polish Fat Thursday and I've sometimes seen them other times of the year. The filling, often rose hip jam or other quality fruit jam, is more natural and less sweet than typical American doughnuts. I wish they had more fresh prepared foods like soups, salads, etc., but fortunately there is a restaurant attached to the food store where you can enjoy many Polish specialties. read more

This is recent example went for kabanosy on Saturday October 2 Got back home and opened the meat and immediately saw mold on it and they were super slimy and stinking like and old rag. We saw dozens of different kinds of smoked meats here. At least a dozen brands of pickled herring, cheeses of every kind (hard, semi-hard, and soft), pierogis of every flavor (savoury and dessert) -- the list goes on and on. This store has got to carry every Polish product available in Poland -- and its all on the shelf here in Houston. They have 40 brands of cucumber pickles, alongside multiple brands of pickled mushrooms, kinds of sauerkraut, and pickled carrots. They stock enough mustard to dress all the hot dogs at an Astros game, and enough varieties of cookies and candies to have one kind a week and need 2 years or more to go through them all. They have 15 flavours of fruit syrups -- we have no idea what you do with those. Jams, jellies, chocolates, noodles, instant soup, sauce, pudding, and cake mixes -- and that's just the groceries! I think it's pretty much the only place in town to get authentic Polish cuisine. Large selection of sausage, pierogies, and other traditional Polish foods. You can also get some Polish mugs, t-shirts, and other souvenirs. It's too bad the restaurant attached is currently closed, but at least you can get bigos, juniper sausage, sauerkraut, pickles, and other salads to make a traditional Polish meal. This was a really cool place. It had a much larger selection that I expected. I was especially excited about the variety of pierogis that were available. My significant other was from Detroit so I went on Fat Tuesday so I could surprise her with authentic paczkis. They were freshly baked and delicious. This is a very authentic place. The customer service in this store is horrible,the workers are always rude, they never make an effort to greet customer, not to mention help with any questions you may have. So if you manage to get on a Polish food kick, this place takes care of all those items you're not going to find elsewhere. Just south of Polonia restaurant, Polish Food Store & Deli is a small, well stocked shop. Immediately to your left as you enter is their deli/meat counter full of sausage, salami, and hams. One of my favorites is their prosciutto which is lightly cure/aged and a bargain at under $8. They also have the tasty Hunter Sticks (what Slim Jims should have been). The back wall of freezers is half full of pierogis. I'm sure you can find the flavor you want. And the middle aisles are full of mustards, bottled and canned goods, and one of the longest length of shelves dedicated to pickles. My Tip for you: I've never been here when they have donuts as they seem to always sell out, but if you spot these round jelly stuffed donuts, don't pass them up. read more

I stopped in for Fat Tuesday, and the place was aromatized with freshly baked Pączki. I ordered a dozen of them, and I took 6 custard and 6 plum. The plum ones are DELISH! The pastries themselves were generously sized, they were flavored with orange, and above all, they are very distinct from donuts. The service was much more friendly; the cashier, unlike the previous one, was at the very least polite and helpful when attending me. I will come back soon! read more

Went to the store to ship a parcel at 5:30 pm on Saturday. Store was closing at 6. As I walked in, there was just one customer already at checkout but the cashier scolded me and said she will not preparing a package for shipping now. Store is almost closed and she will be cleaning and closing for the day. She advised me to come back on Tuesday or Wednesday. It felt like 35 years ago in communistic Poland, when the store personnel would make you feel like annoyance and like they were doing you a favor for even talking to you. I love this place, especially the Polish candies (especially the chocolate covered cherries and chocolate-covered jellies) and the wide variety of food products. The minced horseradish is the best I've ever had and when I mixed it with ketchup, it made the best cocktail sauce I've ever had. Honestly, my mouth starts watering when I start my drive to the store and does not stop until I get home. I have tried so many things here, and there is still so much left to try. I have not yet been lucky enough to get there while the fresh-baked pączki are still on the shelf. I agree with Faye P.'s comment about communication. The people that think the staff is rude should reconsider their comments. The staff is NOT rude. It is just that the voice inflections, etc., used in Poland (from where many of these people have come) and other countries in that area are different from what most of us are accustomed to here in the U.S. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and has often said things like, "Is there anything I can help you find?" The only drawback is that since many of the products are shipped from Poland, I sometimes have to wait for items that have sold out, but it is worth the wait. read more

A young man at the cash register, the owner's son I was told, was extremely rude to me today. He was very patient with a guy whose credit card was declined several times but brushed me off when I complained about the unnecessary wait to pay for my couple of items. The store was empty during the downpour. When I said, I am ready (to pay),the rude young man replied, but I am not, and he directed all his attention to the guy who had problems with his credit card. That's not how customers are treated in the United States. He must think that he is still in Poland. Horrible service. I don't recommend this store. read more

I give this place one star simply for the customer service alone. As far as the store, I'd give it about 3.5 stars. The store has a variety of Polish and eastern European foods many of which I would find in the stores in Poland. However, the store is constantly out of stock of certain types of chocolate and treats. It takes them a long time to finally restock them. I question the refrigeration and cooling units the store has. There was a yellow type of water dripping from the refrigerator onto the meat. Is that safe to eat? Some of the fridges looked like they were creating freezer burns on things that were supposed to be cooled and not frozen like the cold cuts. I think all of that needs to be looked at before someone becomes sick. Before I begin my rant on the customer service, realize that I am first-generation Polish-American. I speak fluent Polish, I am extremely familiar with the Polish culture, and I go to Poland often. Someone earlier was saying that the way the girls behind the counter are acting that way just because of the culture. No. That is not an excuse for poor customer service. Yes, Polish people can come off a little strong sometimes, but I'm sorry, even in Poland I receive stellar customer service. The service I receive at this store along with the other patrons is absolutely TERRIBLE and I have been coming here for quite some time. The ladies working behind the counter were making fun of and being judgmental of the other customers in the store in Polish. Do they not realize that quite a bit of the patrons can understand what they're saying since they speak Polish too and that they're being rather LOUD? Even if they don't understand Polish, that's just bad business. When you ask the ladies to cut you some cold cuts, they have a tendency to roll their eyes, sigh or grunt, and act like they can't be bothered. I've seen them toss the meat at patrons. That's extremely rude. Today, took the cake. One of the ladies yelled at a customer for something irrelevant and THREATENED HER! I'm sorry but if you want to keep your customers then you do NOT yell or threaten them. That is extremely bad business. If the ladies have some issues, then they need to keep it to themselves and not take it out on other customers. After that display, I'd much rather get my European goods from the little European communities in DFW or Chicago. Maybe even order them online. Today, this store lost a good customer and possibly even more. Those ladies definitely need a slice of humble pie. read more
