Cute little cafe with counter service and about 6 tables. It is decorated with some beautiful textile art and has a nice kids room in the back. There are a couple of couch conversation areas as well. There are only a couple of sandwiches on the menu, but oh so good. The chicken salad and seeds and nuts and raisins and not too much mayo. The turkey sandwich has a cranberry mustard that made the sandwich divine. And then there is the amazing bread with a chewy crust that is huge, as was the sandwich. Went here while checking out Lancaster, NH - saw this place on Yelp with good reviews and we went inside to use the bathroom and just check it out. We tried the chocolate chunk cookies and were blown away! We sat for a spell and looked at some of the local art as well. Place was clean and comfortable and had a lot of nice looking breads. Wish we had the room in our lives for bread, but alas we were on vacation and were mostly eating out...any food we needed at our resort we already had bought at the beginning of the week sadly. I will add this, if you've never been to Lancaster (we hadn't) this is a really charming town with a cool "Main Street" and this place is right in the middle of it all. Amazing! Wonderful selection of pastries and the chocolate almond croissant was to die for. Extremely flaky croissant with tons of almond filling and the perfect amount of chocolate to make it sweet but not cloying! Rhubarbarella (rhubarb pie) was amazing. Super flaky crust and had the tartness from the rhubarb that usually gets eliminated by too much sugar or strawberries at many other bakeries. 10/10!!! Cold brew was also great, be warned the sugar comes out fast (totally my fault lol). Wicked friendly staff that seemed excited to be doing what they were doing. Omgoodness! Nice spot we found on Main Street in this northern town. Small lunch menu with decent options. Try the Bigos soup, it was DELISH!!! A Polish soup made with sauerkraut, veggies and absolutely loaded with meat!! Packed with flavor and lots of spices which were not overpowering at all. We tried a chicken salad sandwich -- the roll was AMAZING!! There are plenty of fresh baked sweets to choose from... The apple galette we shared for dessert was just right -- the filling was not overly sweet and the flavor of the apples really comes through. The dough is hard to describe, a combination of soft, flaky yummy goodness. Service was great, both people at the counter were very pleasant and helpful in explaining the menu. (One was the owners son.) Also, you need to know that they sell loaves of their own delicious homemade bread here. Buy some! There's a large room in back with plenty of unique seating options. This bread/baked goods, breakfast and lunch bakery is quaint. We arrived at 10:30 on a Thursday and most of the baked goods were missing. There were no bagels, and many baked goods sold out. There were many choices of loaves of bread for sale. What we did buy was good, an almond croissant and a cinnamon bun, plus two almond cookies ($12.81) to go. I drove out of my way to visit this place and get breakfast instead of eating at our hotel because it looked so cute and I love supporting a small business! They don't have many drinks on their menu but that's totally fine because they had different teas. And I LOVE tea! I ordered an A&E tea not even caring what flavor they gave me. The rude woman taking my order barked back at me that they didn't sell that.. I pointed to the small menu and the last item on there was an A&E tea.. She told me they don't sell that by the cup and that I could buy a box of it instead.. Umm, what? It was literally listed on their drink menu by the cup size. I decided to just get a regular black tea which was literally just twinings tea that I could have gotten for free at the hotel. My husband was so taken back by the attitude and lack of help that he didn't even order anything.. The cinnamon roll was hard and dry and probably a few days old. Amazing breakfast and lunch selection. The food here is made fresh and you can smell the baked goods when you are standing outside. The place is very reasonably priced for the quality in the food. The service was polite and informative. My favorite was "egg in a neat" it's a croissant with an egg baked in the middle with bacon on top. Their warm dishes in the morning are delicious. We also had the mushroom soup and it was so smooth and creamy! My mother in law and i had to split it bc of how big the bowl was. We loved breakfast so much we went BACK for lunch! I arrived 20 minutes b4 they closed at 2pm, but they were sweet and accommodating and told me to take my time eating. There are about 6-7 tables in their clean, nicely decorated bakery and nearly all were being used. I noticed two of the tables were being used for 'meetings', making it more noisy than my visit a year prior, so I would recommend going before noon for a more peaceful visit. Also, their soup and pizza were gone by this visit , but my previous visit ( on a late morning ) found their homemade soup and pizza slices were excellent. They still had a couple delicious-looking apple pies and at least 3-4 each of their unique pasteries. I WILL return! read more

The Polish Princess has the best baked goods in the entire north east in my opinion. You are overwhelmed with amazing smells when you walk in and a wide variety of baked goods in the display case.
