Excellent, the best Polish food I've had at a restaurant. Ordered the Create a Plate with two stuffed cabbages, two potato & cheese Pierogi, two mushroom Pierogi and sour cream - DELICIOUS!!! I grew up one mile from Hamtramck Michigan, which at that time had the second largest Polish population in the USA. Anyhow, over the years I've had lots of great Polish foods, this is my first trip to central Connecticut, and I was delighted when I saw the Polish Plate. I was also suspect, since it is near impossible to get good polish food at a restaurant. My carry out order was wonderful, the stuffed cabbage was savory and not sickening sweet like many restaurants serve. I'll be in town for another couple days and can only think about going back for round two at the Polish Plate. read more

Just discovered this gem while driving down I-84. Cheese and potato pierogi with bacon and onion was fantastic. We also had stuffed cabbage and fried pork cutlet with mashed potatoes (so good!). The staff is lovely and the place is really clean and efficient. Will definitely be back to try other dishes. Highly recommended!! read more

I was not a fan. The pirogies were bland and the dough was tough. The golumpki was more rice then anything. The sauce was the best part of dish. Everything we kept asking for was not available and it was 12:30ish. Middle of the lunch rush and out of items. I guess some people like the food. Also a big issue for me, when I ask for an allergen issue, pleaa we do not say, "I don't think so". Your lack of knowledge of your food product and laziness to look into this and answer correctly could kill someone. You are paid to set rice me. Please train your employees correctly and give them lists if ingredients. read more

I didn't see the value in what I paid and the pirogies overcooked. Ran out of some items when I was there and for it not being busy it took longer than it should to be served. It's okay if you are in a pinch for polish food, but neighboring towns do it better. read more

We went for lunch before the movies intending to share. ( cuz popcorn was DEFINITELY happening) Their one menu was Steps 1-3 ..1 was the meats...2 was the starch ..3 was the 'veggie'... We had Kielbasa ( two links given w/ sauerkraut and onions) & two pierogies & cucumber dill salad and a soda. DELICIOUS YUMMY FOOD! We are so glad we decided to share...it was a lot of food..I gave the girl a tip and the total was under $16. Went last night and was very disappointed. We made a "plate" which ended up being 2 very small, very tough to cut potato dumplings, mashed potatoes (which were actually the only good part, they were great) and cucumber salad. We also ordered pierogis which they couldn't saute for some reason, even though the menu says they offer. Was charged extra for sour cream and applesauce to go with them. The potato pancake was dry and bland. We really wanted to love this place since it's down the street but we'd be better off going to Broad St. in New Britain. The decor was really cute and the girls working the front were nice but very overwhelmed. read more

Visited with my mom on 2/26, and she insisted on having lunch at the Polish Plate. It was awesome! Authentic Polish food, just like my Babcia used to make! Had the potato pancakes, some pierogi's (cheese and mushroom, both good), and for some balance, had the cream cukes. I would highly recommend all of them. Tried the green beans that my niece had, along with my mom's fish. All authentic and homemade. The service was attentive and knowledgeable (Tomas), thank you for a great lunch. My wife and I had lunch at the Polish Plate on Friday February 1st and were very pleased. The restaurant is small, but there is seating for about 15-20. It is well decorated and extremely clean. The young woman at the service counter was great and took her time to explain some dishes that we were not familiar with. She remained calm and friendly despite the crowd that came in at once. The food was delicious and not at all expensive. For $12.95 you could buy a hearty lunch with quite a few choices. I had the ribs mushroom and sauerkraut perogies and cole slaw. The ribs--served two--were excellent and very meaty. The perogies were also very good. The store made dough was very fresh. My wife had stuffed cabbage and sauerkraut salad and the perogies. Again she was served two well sized stuffed cabbages and she thought they were excellent. Those items were in steam tables, but there were other items that could be ordered and were prepared at that time. One other thing that I really appreciated was that if you ate in you used real silverware, the plastic stuff was available for take out. We will definitely return read more

If Southington Ct & Krakow Poland had a baby it would be the Polish Plate. This place is the epicenter for Polish comfort food. Just like my grandmother and great aunts made us as a child. Please be patient though, they're new and still working out some of the kinks. The staff is VERY friendly. When it's your turn to place your order, as you walk up to the counter, you're greeted with some huge smiles and friendly voices. I ordered the combo plate with stuffed cabbage, meat pierogis, and coleslaw. My wife order the combo plate with kielbasa, cheese pierogis and something else I can't remember. In addition, we ordered a side of potato pancakes. I will advise that the potato pancakes will take extra time, so be patient. The stuffed cabbage was flavorful and tender which sent me back to my childhood. So, so, good. The pierogis are boiled, not fried but are very, very good. The kielbasa was loaded with flavor and was very tender. The star of the show are the potato pancakes. These potato pancakes should be awarded a Nobel Peace Prize, because they could be the catylist to bring peace to the world. Just one bite of the crispy on the outside, but tender and creamy on the inside as you taste the potato with a hint of onion. THESE THINGS ARE FABULOUS. The potato pancakes couldn't compare to those that my family (grandmother, aunts, great aunts) made me as a child. When you enter the restaurant, don't be discouraged about the line, as it moves pretty fast, and they do a lot of take out. I'm telling you, it's all worth the wait. Be patient because if you are, you will be treated to some insane food that you'll be talking about during your ride back home and discussing when you're planning to go back for more! read more

Being predominantly English-speaking, the staff picked up on it and made some derogatory remarks in Polish about our choices. I responded that "she didn't want it" in Polish and their eyes flew open wide. I grew up in New Britain and had the benefit of knowing a good number of fine Polish folk who really knew how to cook. This was no comparison. Food was bland and tasteless. One visit was enough for us. I would still rather drive a hour north once or twice a month to get authentic Polish stuffed cabbage, pierogis, delectable in-store made kielbasa, head cheese, smoked Canadian bacon, and savory Polish breads out of New York. Since I'm from New Britain and have tried the other polish restaurants, I thought my husband an I would try the Polish Plate. When we arrived there was a line out the door, but it moved rather quickly. We ended up ordering the polish plate and it was amazing. The two flavor piergois we had, potato & cheese and sauerkraut & mushroom were so good, the dough was thinner than others I've had and the flavors were delicious. The large potato pancakes, so good, slightly crispy edges just as I like them and very flavorful. Hunter's stew was very good, much better than other places in NB and the kielbasa was great. It was pretty lean, and cooked just right. Saving the best for last, the stuffed cabbage, oh my, best combination of ingredients and flavors with just the right amount of sauce. Highly recommend this place, but not really, I don't want it to get too crowded.....:) read more

A work in progress. I was there when they had been open just a few days. I had the stuff cabbage. They are small and they have too much rice in them. The coleslaw was delicious. A lot of the items on the wall menu had been blocked off, but it's probably because they opened. I'm use to going to Taste of Poland on Broad St. in New Britain but this is closer for me. The stuff cabbage at Taste of Poland are bigger and have both veal and beef in them. The prices at taste of Poland are better than Polish Plate. I will go back after they are settled in and will do another review. read more

It was OK--got the "create a plate" with Kielbasa, onions and potato/cheese pierogi along with beets. Despite the warming trays that the food was in--it was all cold. I did get it 'to go', however, my office is literally 4 minutes from the restaurant, so it should have at least been warm. The piece of kielbasa was OK, but they only give 2 boiled pierogi (if pierogi is what you choose from the menu)--and they were kind of bland--no cheese in mine, just potato, not even fried, and no onions or sour cream offered. The cold salad choice I had was beets--which is fine but it's about 1/2 pound of beets--would have preferred another periogi and a smaller beet salad. Not very filling. Only yellow mustard & ketchup--spicy mustard would be good as well. This being that they just opened and I went during lunch-time, I can understand that kinks need to be worked out. I will try again in the future, but not any time soon until they've got a good flow going and have listened to their patrons feedback. read more
