Polite Coffee Roasters (love the name) operates from a beautiful and large historical home with a big porch. Featuring many rooms, tables and chairs, it's easy to find a hangout spot. It's very roomy and high ceilings create a sense of spaciousness. Large windows let in a lot of natural light. The interior is very quaint. I tried one of their summer specials, the peach cobbler latte, and it did not disappoint. Made with peach puree, it tastes like actual peach cobbler (yum) and it's not overly sweet, perfectly balanced. I also got one of their sweet pastries which is very good as well. This is exactly what I needed today, a wonderful and tasty pause to break a long drive from East to Central Texas. I'm so pleased I'm actually going to buy a bag of coffee beans when I'm done writing this review, while sipping my coffee on their beautiful porch. Very nice place and adorable logo! Unique backstory of this 1898 built Kyle House (original owner- Dr. Kyle who donated land for Kyle field) now the coziest coffee shop and spacious hangout complete with its own small library. The name Polite is distinctive and deliberate of the staff, had a wonderful time talking with them. Solid selection of baked goods but didn't try any this time. I love it when cafes actually care about the nitty-gritty of coffee, instead of just speeding through the process. This cafe roasts its own beans (yummy beans by the way), pulls delicious shots, has good service and a unique ambiance (it's in a house), and has good baked goods to accompany your drink. Still (mostly) 5 stars, two years later. We biked to the shop this weekend since the weather was temperate. Also a bonus since the parking situation is rough on the weekends. We locked our group of bikes to the railing and sat outside, but it feels safe enough to just keep an eye on them and not have to carry the locks. This visit, I had the first thing that wasn't 5 stars. To be fair, I didn't complain or give a chance to fix it. I ordered the egg and Everything Bagel kolache. They were made ahead and in the cooler. They warmed it up, but the egg was still cool and the outside breading was very gooey. It felt underbaked. I also had the mint lemonade which was amazing! I'll be back for sure, but will check food items before digging in. read more

I love their pop tarts! They make their sprinkles from scratch and have different flavors. I've had the peach, blackberry, and cherry. They also can warm them up for you. I've had strawberry matcha latte and the Breakfast in Bed (fruity pebble coffee). Matcha was pretty good, strong. Coffee was really sweet but nice fruity flavor. Polite is where my family goes on Sundays. My sisters are there multiple times a week but I usually meet them there on Sundays, we get their delicious chai tea and sit on the porch chatting with the rest of the siblings on zoom. It's so scenic and quaint at this location and the workers are always so kind. Also the bathrooms are clean and well stocked. One thing about my family, is we love to come back and visit Aggieland, but especially, visit family owned businesses. Polite coffee is located in the historic Kyle house which is absolutely stunning. The pastries are all homemade. The kolache had a full Slovacek's sausage and was delicious. My husband downed the Polite tart in a matter of minutes and it was stuffed full of filling. I was so pleased to find out they had decaf espresso as I can't have caffeine, so I snagged a bag of beans! The carrot cake latte actually tasted like carrot cake, and and I thoroughly enjoyed. Oh no, things have changed quite a bit since my review 2 years ago. I hadn't been here in a while and I looked forward to enjoying my morning here. Unfortunately that didn't work out. Overall Polite is still a great space with lots of new additions but some not successful :( I had a chai latte and a Sausage and cheese biscuit sandwich, and both were too challenging to enjoy and finish. The chai had some medicine aftertaste. Never have had that flavor in my chai so I'm not sure what it was but it was too unpleasant to drink. The sandwich was wildly salty. I really enjoy the different combinations they offer. I have had some things I didn't like, but I always like to order things that sound unusual or unique. I accept that that means I may have a few misses here and there. It can be a little slow, especially when they are busy, and it is usually crowded when I've been, but I usually just go and get something to go, so it's no big deal. read more

Seems like Polite is taking over Bryan / College Station, and after visiting the mothership, I see (and taste) why. Polite is housed in the historic Kyle House (yeah, THAT Kyle), and it's got a sort of Historic House / College Crash Pad / We're Still Working on Stuff kind of vibe. That said, all the coffee I tried was excellent, from straight up to iced coffee drinks. I almost never drink iced coffee, but my American Pie was just the thing to deliver some caffeine on a hot day. Definitely worth a detour if you are in the Downtown Bryan area. read more

Came here for the first time with my wife. We ordered the Kyle House coffee and Cappuccino (nothing special about both of these drinks, it was ok and tasted like what it should taste like). It's a bit pricey for a cup of joe that took 3 sips to finish. I guess you can say it's not my style of coffee. I'd prefer a Dutch Bros type of drink where I can get a cheaper larger coffee that has flavor to it. We also ordered the coffee muffin and vanilla and blood orange scone. Nothing amazing about the coffee cake other than the freshness. The scone was actually very flavorful. The staff is super friendly and fast. Good sized parking lot and lots of seats to include outdoors. I love the old historic house turned coffee shop idea. It is very creative. Great place to come to enjoy some coffee and get some work done! My favorite thing about this cafe is that there's a lot of seating! Seems like a house they renovated into a cafe and its perfect for students to come and study. They also have some outdoor seating if you're wanting to sit outside and enjoy the weather c: I got one of their lattes I forget the name.. but it had honey and some cinnamon? the barista should know what i'm talking about haha but it was REALLY good! I'm a black coffee type of person but when I came i said why not? So i tried that lattee and it was balanced really well. Not too sweet and not too bitter. There was an ancient era of good coffee houses, a long run of tragic coffee house bankruptcies and closures, a dry spell in which Starbucks was the best game in town ... and then hope returned in the spring. There are now a number of new and interesting places where you can drink espresso and get work done. But of the new generation of super-coffee-houses, Polite Coffee Roasters in Bryan is the best of the best of the best. * * * This is not necessarily because the coffee itself is legendary. They are bold and take creative risks in the coffee making. You can win big. You can lose big. Let it now be known to all Yelpers in all cities and every nation on the face of this planet ... That Froot Loops Coffee is a bad idea. A really really really bad idea. That said, You have to admire the brass balls and the twisted Frank Zappa mentality that would make any barista even THINK of making Froot Loops Coffee. Everywhere else in BCS, the baristas think they are being bold if they make a latte in any flavor other than vanilla. * * * The setting is absolutely positively spectacular. As a physical place to work, this is one of the best coffee houses anywhere, And that includes coffee houses in coffee house heavens such as London and Seattle. The Polite Coffee Roasters got a hold of a huge Victorian House. The house was already so famous it had a name. (The "Kyle" House if you wanna know). They turned most of this Victorian mansion into places to work and drink your coffee. They also have a sprawling back yard with lots of porches and a gazebo. The lawn, porches and gazebo are also set up as places to work and drink your coffee. The place is mobbed with coffee-and-artistic-sensibility-starved graduate students who drive all the way up from College Station to get grace and class and Berkeley/Chapel Hill/Madison Weltanschauung. A third of the graduate programs of all of Texas A and M University may be working in the various rooms of Polite Coffee Roasters. But the house and the parking lot are all enormous. All of those scientific and artistic types can fit into the house and the yard leaving plenty of room to you to park your car. You will have a wide choice of free tables when you get inside. The buzz may be Seattle-Eugene but the scale is Texas-sized. * * * The snacks are limited but really good for what they are. Special kudos for the biscuit with homemade honey butter. When they offer to heat it for you, be sure to say yes. There is honey butter and there is ! Honey Butter ! This is ! Honey Butter ! I ordered biscuit after biscuit not to let my ! Honey Butter ! go to waste. * * * Altogether a major accomplishment in bringing civilization, grace and style to Bryan College Station. When we moved from a cold weather state, where they know how to brew a coffee & pour a latte, back home to Texas, the first thing we thought was - where are we going to get our coffee from?! Legit panic attack! But Polite is among the better coffee show in the neighborhood. It has plenty of seating, both indoor and outdoor, as well as relatively good WiFi (considering the number of people there are). It's a better pour than your chain coffee shop, though a bit pricier. Only downside is the setup. Having one small area to order and pick up your drink is a bit cramped when you add all the extras of coffee shop products. Also, the staff service is a bit of a mixed bag. Tried some black coffee here. It was strong enough to knock out a horse, so that was good. The flavor was a bit imbalanced however, and I wouldn't exactly describe it as well rounded or gourmet. Unfortunately, my latte was extremely weak, to the point that I wish I'd asked for an extra shot in it. Also, while the foam was pretty good, it wasn't microfoam velvety.
