This was my first visit to Pollo Campero in St. Cloud and I'm impressed! The place was super clean, bright, and had a welcoming vibe from the moment I walked in. The fried chicken? Perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Seasoned just right you can tell it's made fresh. I got the combo with the Campero Yuka Fries and a soft roll, and everything hit the spot. They also have fresh aguas frescas, I tried the mango and Jamaica, and both were refreshing and full of flavor (not just sugar water like some places). Service was quick and friendly. I've never heard of this place and I've driven by it for the last couple of days so today I made it a point to stop and give it a try. The outside of the restaurant has a style that seems like it's pretty new. The inside is very similar and looks new and clean. I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich. With pickles of course can't do without the pickles. Sandwich was actually pretty great. Pollo Tropical is wayyyyyyyy better! Stumbled on this chicken franchise that just opened in Orlandoin St. Cloud area. It was pretty busy the day I went. So It's similar to Pollo Tropical but they serve family style entree's here and offer fried chicken. They offer Family style and they serve it to you on the table. The fried chicken family platters seemed to be a popular choice with the large sides of yuca fries, rice etc. The fountain drinks they offer Horchata and Tamarind? or Jamaica? also Mango agua frescas. I opted getting the kids meal that was $5 which is a good deal. I chose thigh and a drumstick along with a side of rice. I was told that the kids meal only came with1 pc of chicken and I told the server the drive thru stated 2 pcs. They ended up giving me the thigh and drumstick GRILLED chicken. The rice had corn in it only. The rice was pretty bland. This rice needed more seasoning. The chicken was okay the skin was not completely roasted/crispy and some of the meat looked like it needed more cooking time. The horchata was ok needed more cinnamon but it was not watery. Before Pollo Campero opened restaurants in the US, Salvadorians would bring it over and the airplanes smelled like fried chicken. The fried chicken is more home style. It doesn't have a lot of flaky breading like Popeyes. The family meal is on the expensive side. $47 for a 12 piece. Popeyes is a little less but with a coupon, it's about $30. First time and last time coming here. Really terrible first impressions. They spoke Spanish before English here and had a hard time ordering food. Ate most of my chicken sandwich, which was very subpar (eww, sweet pickles). As outside of pickles, there is literally nothing else but bread and chicken. No mayo, dry. Little to no flavor. Almost done, I noticed there was mold on the bread as seen in the photo and stopped eating immediately. This place is brand new and less than a year old. How could it be run this bad? Let me start by saying what a horrible experience I had. I was there about a week ago and my family and I had the unpleasant experience of witnessing 2 of your employees swearing and dropping the N word in the kitchen. Another one was screaming F Donald trump. Look I understand that not everyone's political views are the same but to act like that in front of patrons at a place of business was very unpleasant. One of the team members try to let them know what they were doing was wrong but they seem not to care. My kids are mix (black and white) and hearing the N word being thrown around like that was uncomfortable. One of them was a tall light skin of spanish decent and the other was a brown skin of spanish decent as well. You should coach this behavior so it doesn't happen again. Friendly staff but kind of expensive for the quality of the food. I've only tried the fried chicken wings, French fries, and the Jamaica (hibiscus drink). Chicken was pretty good the first time but subsequent visits it was just ok. The hibiscus drink would have been good if they figured someway to filter out the taste of the central Florida tap water they used to make it. If you have not experienced the taste of central Florida tap water consider yourself lucky. Anyway I gave them a couple of shots because they're so close but I probably won't be back. read more

I remember pollo campero back in Downtown Disney. Unfortunately, this was not what i expected. I remember it used to have a bar with different style of salsas and the option of either bread or tortillas. This feels just like another KFC style of chicken, since there was no grilled chicken but only fried and some kind of oven style chicken you would get in a an average fast food restaurant. I got the 4 piece special which included 4 piece chicken (I got grilled and fried), Mac and cheese, yuca fries, and a dinner roll. I honestly think it's ok. The fried chicken had a good flavor, the grilled chicken was a bit dry. I loved the yuca fries. The Mac and cheese to me tasted a bit like boxed ones but with a little bit of a twist like if they add a type of seasoning. I like chick fil a Mac and cheese is way better.
