We are fans of Pollo Peru. When all COVID-19 hell broke loose, we got to wondering if they are doing takeout and delivery. A visit to their website confirmed that they are doing so. I will point out that when you visit their website to look at their takeout and delivery menu, their homepage lists 4 entrees that they call "specials". My husband saw that and assumed that was all they were serving. When you see the specials, click on "menu" in the upper left hand side of the page and it will take you to a more extensive one. It was there that we found what we ended up ordering. We got their "family meal" because we could get more than one meal out of it. This dinner consists of 3 pieces of white meat and 3 pieces of dark meat. You also get 4 sides and pick which ones you want. We chose, for our sides, platanos (there is an upcharge for this item) black beans, rice and cole slaw. They give enough to feed 4-6 people. Also, they ask you if you want mild or spicy sauce. We chose mild but ended up with an assortment of both. They do their deliveries through Door Dash. The food came when we expected it to arrive. Much to our surprise, all the food was still warm when it arrived. I worried that the white meat chicken would be dried out but that wasn't the case. Although a few small parts of it were on the dried side, they weren't dry enough to require any sauce. My husband ate the dark meat and he really enjoyed it. The sides were also delicious. The platanos, as always, were our favorite. They were moist and sweet. The beans came with quite a bit of sauce but that was good when served over the rice. The cole slaw was also very pleasant and mildly flavored. Everything held up quite well when reheated the next day. Although, the white meat chicken did need some help from the mild sauce. We still had enough chicken leftover so we could make a later meal out of it. I shredded the leftover pieces and froze them for later use. In the end, while it isn't the same as dining in, it was all quite nicely done. We do plan to order from them again.

Employee that doesn't understand customer service

Place is a joke - ordered online and paid for extra sauces but didn't get them in my order. Went the next day to just redeem what I paid for and this clown insisted that I pay again...$1.57 or lose a customer forever. Advice to management - hire better employees The chicken also sucks and way overpriced.

Service was friendly and fast. We tried the yucca, beans and rice, and plantains. All the sides were very tasty. The chicken was tender but could use more seasoning and flavor from the charcoal cooking method. I would eat here again if in the neighborhood but would not travel out of my way.

1.5 Stars technically but I'll be nice and round up to 2. Here is my no-holds-barred, honest-to-goodness, down-and-dirty review of this Peruvian chicken joint that has been at this location for probably 10 years or more. Was one of the first Peruvian Chicken places in the area, ahead of the craze. And boy was it good, quality food, large portions, awesome white and green sauces and great low prices....THAT WAS THEN. This is now: Pros: * Combo meals are value-priced and THE WAY TO GO (see my menu pics) * Fried Yucca which we ordered crispy/well done was just that - came out piping hot and just the right crispiness * Convenient location - right in Home Depot parking lot with plenty of lot parking Sadly, that's where it ends. :( Cons: * Oh my - the SCRAWNIEST, SKIMPIEST, TINIEST whole birds I've ever seen. Wish I had taken a pic of the line of birds on the spit inside the oven - these birds are anemic! Which means the pieces are dinky (see my pic as proof - THEY ARE DINKY). A quarter chicken order wouldn't be enough to satisfy an adult much less the Hungry Man contractors and workers I see stopping in for lunch. Bet they all are sizing up to a half chicken meal (which is still not a lot of meat but, hand it to the business, a clever ploy...). * Party of 2 - ordered 1/2 chicken to share and asked about whether it came with sides. Server said no, everything is now a la carte - so we ordered a medium fried yucca, medium white rice, small fried plantains - server did NOT tell us we could save $$ (significant $$ in fact) by going with the Caribbean Combo and upsizing sides or ordering additional sides! NOT COOL. Because of this, I won't be back. * White rice was flavorless and super sticky (not fluffy) - so unappetizing. Would not recommend. * Green and White sauces USED TO BE SO GOOD. That was back in the day. What happened to the secret recipe!?! The white sauce tastes bland, no flavor! The green sauce is not spicy at all and has little flavor. * No fountain drinks - only cans and bottles - AND NO ICE! So if you're looking for an ice cold drink, if they just restocked the refrig case (what happened to us), you're SOL. Room temp drinks are what you get. * Interior of the restaurant could most definitely use a refresh! So old, tired....and unclean! The place is sooo uninviting, cold-feeling, dark and dingy. Tile floors are dirty. Windows are dirty. Walls are filthy with pieces of old food stuck to them if you look close at them (just don't). Even the black chair rail along the wall has caked on oil and dirt coating them. Ewwwww... High top tables are small squares not even big enough to hold 2 people's meals. Honestly, you walk in, look around and just don't feel like staying. Bottom line, even with the combo pricing admittedly being the best meal deal, all things considered for the overall dining experience including taste, flavor and quality of the food itself, SO NOT WORTH IT. So disappointing - Pollo Peru used to be a go-to for me yearrrrrrs ago (way before covid) but our experience today just confirms that, even though it costs me more, SUPER CHICKEN RESTON (Reston Pkwy + Sunrise Valley Drive - not far down the road) IS A WAY BETTER VALUE. More flavorful and juicy chicken, bigger, more plump and meaty birds, better/more generous portion sizes for sides (and a wider sides selection), AMAZINGLY FLAVORFUL WHITE AND GREEN SAUCES and a much more pleasant, immaculately clean interior with inviting/comfortable seating. NO CONTEST. Try it and see for yourself. The only thing I can think of is that Polo Peru changed ownership somewhere along the lines and lost their way. The original owners kept the place up and really cared about the business and their customers (and it used to show!). I didn't see the same pride of ownership today - NOT EVEN CLOSE. A deeply neglected business with lots to be desired. I get that covid took a huge toll on restaurants but now, as things start to turn around for them and considering the new challenge of inflation taking a huge bite out of our wallets, all that I experienced today was a losing formula for long term success....just mho. I'm sorry Pollo Peru - I think you've run your course.... :(

Two weeks ago I was very pleased with the quality of the chicken in this place I only ordered Chichen (1/4) . yesterday I try the sides (fries and rice) unfortunately nor the chicken or the sides were fresh, of course today I have a stomachache, on top of that the service was 50% good , the cashier a young guy was fine , but the guy who give me the food was kind of rude plus give me my order in a used bag looking. Is sad in this days when these kind of business suffered the lack of business because the pandemic some employees/owners don't care about the quality of service and product .

Usually the best food from here but how does this pass inspection to be sold? Last time I ordered the Cubano meal and they forgot my rice and beans. Might have to start going to the Herndon location because the food is still top notch and it's my favorite Peruvian chicken.

Located right next to Home Depot. Parking is a bit tight with the multiple businesses bunched together and it being lunch rush. I tried this place based on a recommendation from a co-worker who lives in the area. I'm up for the challenge. So, I came here during lunch, the line was to the door (very popular place I must say). I ordered the 1/4 Chicken Leg + two sides (fries and rice), it was about $7.15 including tax. The chicken is fresh, constantly coming out of the oven. Very tender and not dry, whatsoever. Fries crispy, not burnt. Rice can use some more flavor. The spicy green sauce, thick and actually spicy; not watery like other places. I would come back here again. Good food, can't beat a full lunch meal for $7. Note, there is a sign, starting mid-June, orders will no longer be accepted via phone; however, online ordering will be available.

I am floored this restaurant doesn't gave better reviews. We literally drive from McLean to eat there. We LOVE the chicken, it has so much flavor and the skin is cooked perfectly. The portions are huge and the dark green sauce is as fresh as it gets. The dressing for the salad is absolutely one of our favorites. The yucca is perfectly fried and not overly dense. The restaurant itself is well run and very clean especially considering how busy they can get. If you haven't been, I strongly recommend a visit...and get extra green sauce :)

Not bad for a Peruvian chicken place. I've come here in the past but the specials have changed a little since then. You now have to order all items separately but have the option to build your meal. Im not sure if this is new or maybe I just never noticed, being a purist and all, but Pollo Peru offers three melts now. You have the option after choosing your meat option to have it made Into one of three available melts. If you're a Peruvian chicken purist like me you still have the option to choose a couple of sides to accompany your cut of meat. You still have the option to do a quarter, or half or a whole chicken but i think there is more flexibility now since you can get half a chicken and get two legs like I did instead of a literal half of a chicken. I feel a little cheated now that sides are all sold separately but still love that they offer regular options that I've come to expect like plantains but additionally have exotic fare like yucca and sweet potato fries. Other slides include black beans, steak cut fries, fresh steamed veggies, a side salad and a mayo based Cole slaw. The plantains were not ripe which is why I gave 4 stars. I'd expect platanos maduros to be ripe and sweet but I've been here two days in a row and on both days they were half ripe and less sweet and harder than I like them. You can get a few complimentary small containers of the mold or spicy sauces. I had the mild which was a really tasty light mayo based sauce. The chicken on the other hand delivered. It was succulent, juicy, fall off the bone and well seasoned and just perfect with thin crispy brown skin. I don't foresee visiting again this week (two consecutive days seems like the start of an obsession) but I might come back again next week if I need a Peruvian pick me up.

This was my first time trying this Peruvian chicken restaurant. I ordered the whole chicken meal which came with two large sides for carry out. I got the salad and fries. The chicken was actually cooked well not dry and over cooked like most of these type restaurants. The sides not do good. The French fries were horrible I can tell they cooked to many at a time causing they were greasy and hard. The salad was very basic (lettuce, shredded carrots, two grape tomatoes and two slices of cucumber). I upgraded the salad (at home) and threw the fries in the trash. I would only go back for the chicken at the convenient location.

Decent but I'd rather drive another few minutes down the street to Waku Chicken. It wasn't juicy or had much flavor compared to Waku. It wasn't awful either, just thought it would be better! It was pretty busy when I got there for lunch time around 1pm but didn't expect any less. The lines went by pretty quick because another server hopped on (smart decision!). I have to say the sweet potato fries were delicious and hot out the oven. But who would think of getting sweet potato fries at a Peruvian joint. Me! And it was a great idea! The sweet potatoes are an extra .99 cents or something extra because its considered a special side. A normal side is fries, salad and beans I think for no extra charge but yucca, sweet potatoes and some others are extra. Good thing a check in gives you 10% off so technically the special side is free! I really don't understand why they can't give you an extra sauce, I mean its just one! I'm not asking for an extra bucket. And I believe its an extra $1 for 2, I mean really? I'll try it again because I like giving places second chances so I hope it's better than before! For now, I'll stick to Waku for only another few minute drive.

Super moist and flavorful Peruvian chicken in Reston! Easy to place order on phone then pick up 10 minutes later. The food is cheap ($16 for whole chicken, two sides, and 4 sauces) and delicious for those times when I don't feel like cooking. You never have much of a long wait, but always have people coming and going. Last year come football time, they ran Sunday and Monday specials - $12 for whole ckn, 2 sides, 4 sauces. You cannot beat that! They recently switched up their yucca recipe, and also the green jalapeño sauce so its much better than when they first opened. Located next to the home depot. Recommend black beans, yucca, plantains, sweet potato fries, rice. This beats driving to Arlington! read more

Gave this place a try and glad I did. Their chicken is great with a crispy skin. Sometimes it can be a little salty for me but generally, it's fine. Their yucca is great and their green sauce is a little different than most places with great flavor and some texture to it. read more

I'm a Peruvian Chicken Lover. Lived in Arlington for 10 years, so I have a bit of experience with many locations. I'm not going to try and compare Pollo Peru to any of them like other reviewers have done, because that really shows a bias for one place over another. Peruvian Chicken spots in the DC area definitely have their followers, but in the end most of them have something great about them, and something sub-par, and evidently that comes down to a personal opinion that may be connected to that persons first pollo experience. My perfect Pollo experience would have me picking up a different menu item from up to 5 separate Peruvian Chicken spots. I like Pollo Peru for these reasons. First, I moved to Reston a few months ago, so now it's my local spot for Peruvian Chicken. So, onto the Chicken.... my family and I had a whole chicken, and while the overall flavors did not permeate throughout the meat, the chicken was very juicy(which is more that i can say about a place that uses "juicy" in their name.). The skin was also very "crispy". So, 4 stars on the chicken. We had Yucca with the chicken and it was done proper, super soft on the inside, and sharp and crunchy on the outside. So, 4 stars for the Yucca. The sauces were not even close to some of my favorites from other spots, but the green(jalapeno) sauce was think, creamy, and spicy, while the white sauce was actually "white sauce", pretty much just mayonnaise, which is a completely bland approach in my opinion. However, combining the two sauces was the way to go, and satisfied my family. The service was great, the staff was very friendly. The interior is minimal and there is good amount of space to sit down and eat. I give it 4 stars for it's location to me in Reston as there is not another Pollo place in Reston. I've been missing the abundant choices for Peruvian chicken I had in Arlington. Overall score is 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. *Update* 8/25/11 they have improved their white sauce, and it's quite unique and good, little bit of kick. read more

This is definitely one of the better Peruvian Chicken places in the area. They have a pretty great operation going on here. The chicken is incredibly flavorful and has a good charcoal aroma. The only thing that sucks about it is I pick it clean so fast I don't even have time to open the magical green sauce or hot mayo. Even though those are probably my favorite condiments on earth, the chicken is gone before I even give them a thought. I don't know what they do to the chicken (MSG?), but I cannot stop eating it once I start. This chicken is outrageously yummy! I tried the fries and coleslaw -- the coleslaw is tasty but very wet and likely calorific. The fries are in the Peruvian style, standard limp planks you get at the other pollo loco places. I usually opt for the salad which is not large, but pretty fresh and well-prepared. Dressing is good also. The inside is clean and pretty spacious as far as these joints go, but I always take out, as most customers seem to do. Never seen it crowded. read more

Great spot close to home if I don't feel like making the hike to Arlington. Chicken is most flavorful of all options in Reston (Boston Market, old Chicken Out, grocery stores) and the sides are great! Rice is flavorful and like to splurge on fried yucca (a little dry) and plantains (a hit). And it's a good deal compared to the other options on the area :) read more

For a non Peruvian this is great chicken, but not for me, the green sauce isn't the best , the chicken is okay, not better than Pollo Rico, Chicken Pollo or Eddy's chicken, but it has room for improvement. Great open and clean place. Chicken Rico on Elden street is however my go to place. read more

They have good chicken but in the 4 times I have come here they have gotten my order wrong twice. The last time I asked for 10 yellow sauces and they wrote it on the ticket. I got 10 green. I got home and turned around because what is Peruvian chicken without yellow sauce. (Yes, I am white.). They replaced the sauce and the kids behind the counter were polite and apologetic. The manager was cold and rude. One of the kids asked her if she should give me a discount card and she ignored him. I was not looking for a discount card, but probably would not have bothered to write this review if I had gotten one. Customer service, people. Keep us happy. read more

Phone ahead? Forget it. They won't start your order until you show up. They are s-l-o-w! Three visits, all the same s-l-o-w service. Also, they overcharged me this time by four dollars and didn't notice it until I got home. Add in the poor attitude of the employees, well, I am not going back there. Update: I must say they contacted me to try to make it right - too bad I am way too busy to jump through the hoops to get this corrected. read more

Chicken is ok. However, the increases in price kill this place. $1.00 addition if you order plantains, yucca and/or sweet potato fries... EACH!! I cant support a place that drastically increases prices like that. read more

Wonderfully seasoned chicken that's been consistently delicious and moist each of the three times I've visited this location. Limited menu but what they do they do very well. The plantains were very sweet and tasty. The fried yucca I'm normally not a fan of but love it at this place. And those little sauces are to die for. Love the place. read more

This has become a staple food in our household. Quick & tasty for accurate carry out or eat in a clean and spacious dining room. The staff is always fast and helpful. The whole chicken with two large sides is a bargain. I love the black beans, too! read more

Visited this place for lunch for the first time today, after smelling it wafting around the Home Depot parking lot on errands. I had never been to a Peruvian joint before, but OMGOSH, delicious stuff. I loved the plantains. There is a Cuban restaurant where I'm from that does a similar preparation and I was so pleased to find a similar dish here. The sandwich was fine, the sauces were delicious, price seemed very reasonable for the quality and amount of food I received. Will most definitely go back. Nice staff, clean dining area, very short wait. read more

So delicious and juicy chicken for a "fast food" kind of place. The two choices of sauces are also excellent. My fave treat is the sweet plantain! The price is just okay. Kudos for giving your customers extra 10% if checking in Yelp! Thanks! I took out one star for there is no delivery option. read more

We probably eat here once a week. I wish I knew what the rub was for the chicken so I could make this at home. I usually get it with the black beans and yucca fries. Tip- get extra side sauces and mix the green sauce into the beans. So delicious. Fast service. We usually get it to-go but they have a lot of seating if you want to stay and eat. read more

I have had Pollo Peru 4 times now and it has gone downhill each time. The first time I went the chicken was moist and the sides were hot and cooked appropriately. More recently though, the chicken has been dry and the sides have been cold or undercooked. With other peruvian chicken places popping up around the place it is going to be hard for Pollo Peru to keep my business if they continue with the dry chicken and poor quality sides. read more

So the strong point of this place is their chicken, as it should be. Their sauces, sweet potato fries, and tres leches are also pretty good. I've tried most of their other sides and they're kinda meh, so I just get double sweet potato fries instead of a 2nd side. The interior of the restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly. I also like it because there's not a never ending line of yuppies around lunchtime, like most other places in Reston (although, I suspect it's because a lot of people don't realize it's there.) read more

They call it pollo Peru but do not cook authentic Peruvian food I agree the chicken was very dry and they couldn't get the requested sauces correct even though I was charged extra... hands down I will not come back but will def continue going to "mi Rico Peru" it is in Franconia area but all the food there is great, cooked to perfection and they offer several REAL authentic Peruvian dishes including drinks!! Check them out Reply to Kara G. : Btw not promoting AT ALL but def want people to know what a poor experience I had at ur place... This is my goto chicken spot.. For those who haven't tried the sandwiches, don't sleep on them - they are phenomenal. Im here just about every other week at some point or another with no plans to slow down anytime soon.. kudos pollo peru. Docking a star only because from time to time its a little disorganized on the ordering process side - nothing severe enough to cause much of a bother - it is a busy place after all. read more

Never again. $0.25 for extra mayonaise they refer to as "sauce"?? If I wanted extra mayonaise I could've just used my side of cole slaw. Too much greed here to feel comfortable and conveniently without any person or place to leave a comment at the restaurant. I'll just enter my awful experience here. read more

I downgraded my rating after a recent bi-weekly visit for lunch. I observed the female cashier working with plastic gloves on and I didn't think much of it because money is filthy and I would not want to touch it either. Shortly after I placed my order the cashier walked over to the kitchen counter and began to prepare the food orders without bothering to change her gloves. I thought it was an oversight so I casually walked over and said "aren't you going to change your gloves before you touch the food?" She got an attitiude and said that she already did. I did not want to cause a scene so I told the fella at the register that I changed my mind and wanted my money back which he complied. Yep, he too was wearing plastic gloves. This place would have been a 4 stars, but the customer service here is bad. I already ordered my food online and still had to wait in line to pick up my food, what is the purpose of me ordering online when i still have to wait in line to get the food. And on top of that the guy that was at the cash register was not very nice and welcoming either. Definitely should learn some customer service skills. read more

She took our orders and food came out after 15 minutes. The meat was missing the sauce the menu said it came with, the ceviche tasted very lemony and the chicken tenders were more like chicken balls. The waitress never showed up with our drinks and we decided to just eat and go as the staff seemed to want to socialize more than tend to the customers. Once we were done, we asked for boxes and the check. Apparently, gratuity was already included and maybe thats why the service was so bad? She hardly came to check on us and to top it off she was surprised when we told her drinks never showed up to please take it off check. She didn't apologize or asked how the food was. She gave us boxes and off we left. Later, we realized the bistec a lo pobre was $28 instead of $26 and we had ordered two. I just wanted to leave at that point and not wait another 5 minutes for waitress to fix her mistake. The ad, as shown in picture, said all moms receive a flower but I guess having three kids with me wasn't enough for me to get one. We also noticed when we left their website said a party of 6 or more has gratuity included but we were a party of 5. What is shown online is very different than what you get in person and if the food was great I would gladly go back for at least takeout. Food is not worth it, the service for Mother's Day made it worst and the environment was mediocre at best. Prices were inconsistent and menu is not appealing. Not sure what happened here but changes should be made at least for Mother's Day.

The service was good and our server was attentive. She offered us some guidance on the menu and some recommendations as well. The workers did a great job grabbing finished plates off tables and were super friendly. Some of our food took longer to come out, specifically the charcuterie board. Each table starts with fresh, warm bread and Spanish olive oil. Some tables got balsamic vinegar added to their oil, but we didn't. They do offer refills for the bread as well. For tapas styled dinners it is recommended to order a couple of plates at once for the table to share. We started with the Aperitivo Board which included an Jamón Serrano, Chorizo Soria, Idiazábal, Manchego, Eggplant Caponata, House Marinated Olives, Pickled Guindilla Peppers, and Patatas Brava. This was a huge board with a little bit of everything. Ordering this allows you to try some charcuterie and tapas at once for a great price. The meats were lovely and the Manchego cheeses were bold. Both paired well with the olives too. The eggplant caponata had a slight sweetness to it, which I liked. And the patatas bravas were easily some of the best I've had. The crema atop of them was to die for, these are a must order! Like I stated above, our board took a while to come out. This wasn't a huge deal, but it definitely took longer than it should have and I wish our server had checked in on us during that period. Next, we order the beet salad, albondigas, and the jamón & manchego croquetas. These dishes arrived quicker and all came around the same time. The beet salad consisted of pickled beets with a Skordalia garlic spread on the bottom. The sweetness of the beets complimented the Skordalia nicely. The albondigas included 5 Spiced Meatballs in Jamón-Tomato Sauce. With a little bit of a kick to them, these meatballs were fantastic! The sauce was extremely flavorful and I thoroughly enjoyed these. Lastly, the jamón & manchego croquetas which were served with the same garlic aioli that was atop the patatas bravas. These were rich and really creamy with lots of manchego. The breading was light on the outside and the inside was packed with mostly manchego and some jamón. I would 100% order this if you want a little charcuterie and some of the tapas. Could easily be a meal for two people. The rolls were perfectly balanced: the Firecracker Roll had just the right kick, the Volcano Roll was rich and indulgent, and the Shrimp Tempura Roll was crispy without being greasy. The Rainbow Roll was vibrant and fresh, while the Spicy Tuna hit that clean, spicy sweet spot. The sashimi and nigiri was also high quality fresh fish. Service was just as impressive, attentive, warm, and seamless without being overbearing. Everything arrived beautifully plated and perfectly timed. If you love sushi that's fresh, generous, and made with intention, this spot deserves a top spot on your list. We're already planning our next visit.

This is a very good chicken place restaurant. It was four of us and we walked in around 1 pm to give it a try. The place is clean and spacious, not over decorated but simple. There was a small line when we walked in of about 6 people (they seem to get quite a business crowd). The line moved quick and soon we ordered. We all ordered 1/2 chicken and a bunch of sides (all 1/2 chickens come with 2 sides) and the green spicy sauce and the yellowish mild sauce. It took about 4 minutes to get our numbers called and we moved into the dining area. The folks that work there were very friendly. In 20 minutes our plates had only bones. The chicken was so good, juicy and crispy and very flavorful. The four of us were very impressed with the chicken. The sides were pretty good too. They yuca is probably the best side they have. It is not ordinary fried yuca, it seems like mashed in the middle and crispy on the outside. That went very well with the spicy sauce. The french fries and sweet potato fries were ok too but nothing special to them. Their sauces were pretty good too. You got 4 happy customers Pollo Peru! read more

I grew up on El Pollo Rico and was really excited when I saw they were putting a Peruvian chicken place in Reston ( in walking distance! way closer than Arlington for me). I've eaten here on two occasions since they've opened. The first time I went I must admit I was disappointed since my chicken was a little dry and the service a little chaotic. But then again, it was only their second day. But then during the Taste of Reston I noticed they had a booth so figured I'd try them out again and WOW what a difference! My guess is since they didn't have the crowds in the restaurant the chickens just weren't as hot off the press - whereas as Taste of Reston they had flooded lines and were just pumping out the chicken. I guess it really makes a difference. I have high hopes for this place - I think once the crowd picks up in the actual restaurant, old, drier chickens won't be an issue any more. So anyway, 5 stars for what I ate at Taste of Reston, 3 stars for the previous time in the store, and fingers crossed for another 5 stars next time I go in read more

Absolutely terrible! The chicken, supposedly the feature, was a blackened carcass of dried out, tasteless cold meat. It was absolutely inedible. The sweet potato fries were cold, greasy, limp, gummy and cold. The salad was nothing more than gritty greens with a tiny bit of dressing barely enough to dress a few leaves. No choice of dressing -- some purple glop that tasted more of sugar than anything else. Far too little of the side sauces, whatever they may be, less than a thimble-full in a plastic container. There was more packaging than food and not one thing was either recycled or recyclable. Not even the aluminum beverage cans can be recycled here. Definitely an F- for environmental stewardship. Filthy rest rooms. The order taker was incredibly rude rolling her eyes as we asked a few questions for first (and last) time visitors. This was after waiting several minutes at the front counter for someone, anyone, to take our order. Don't waste your time or your money at this place---the food is terrible and the service is worse. read more

I was quite impressed when I dined in last night at Pollo Peru, the food is excellent. I ordered 1/4 chicken with yuca and salad and it was a perfect meal. My friend ordered a 1/2 chicken with fries and plantains and it was amazingly good. Here are the main reasons of my rating:1) It was fast even though we came late at night (less than 5 minute wait for our food to be ready), 2) the chicken was out of the rotisserie oven, fresh, crispy, juicy, just delicious, the chicken had a great flavor; 3) the sides (at least the ones me and my friend tried) were very good and 4) the spicy green hot sauce was incredible (yes it was hot) good and blended perfect with the chicken. Additionally, their cashier was nice and very helpful, the prices were very decent, and the quality of the food was great. The overall environment was nice and clean. We also decided to try one alfajor (the cookie with filling in the middle) and one tres leches. They were delicious. This is my chicken place from now on. read more

I give it 4.5 stars overall. I found this place through a flavorful charcoal/grill smell when I finished picking up a few items from Home Depot in Reston. I inquired about the smell and the employees at Home Depot pointed me to Pollo Peru. I went there and ordered a whole chicken with french fries and coleslaw. When I got home, my wife and kids indulged on the chicken and fries. The coleslaw was just ok. The chicken, however, was outstanding, rich in flavor and delicious when I mixed it with the green hot sauce. My kids enjoyed the yellow sauce more. To me, the mild sauce was not as appealing as the spicy one. I know I am picking up more chicken from this place. Next time I'll bring my family to dine in. read more

Ok, Ill be honest, the service is less than perfect. However, i still give them 5 star rating cause its the most tasty chicken I have ever had. Their fried potato and yuka are awesome too. But their chicken is amazing!!! Also their chicken sandwiches are awesome too. But I usually get the rotisserie chicken. I think their service is sometimes less than perfect simply because they are sooooo busy and overwhelmed with customers that they allow customer services to faulter at times. But it doesnt matter. They have the special recipe for the most tasty chicken ever!! read more

I live in Reston and was waiting for something like this to happen. They have a simple menu with a choice of two sides (yuca, fries, plantains, rice, salad, coleslaw and YES sweet potato fries) they go so well with the chicken. Their mild and hot sauce are delicious. I ordered 1/2 chicken with sweet potato fries and yuca and the chicken was just perfect, juicy and crispy. The yuca crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and the sweet potato fries were outstanding. I'm definitely coming back. I have to give 5 stars to this place read more

I was skeptical going into a new Peruvian chicken place and usually stick with what I know and like (I have come across many pretty substandard places in my day) but to my surprise the food was actually delicious! I also love the fact that its located right next to my work and home. The chicken was very tasty, marinated and cooked perfectly in my opinion. I absolutely love the sweet potato fries as well. Not bad but not happy with service. Staff seemed to be in a bad mood. I asked for mild sauce and if it had any spice in it as I am sensitive they said no. I took one taste and did not get to enjoy rest of meal as my belly blew up. Other places I can have their "suave" sauce but this has jalepeno grinded in . Probably wont be back unless I have my own sauce read more

Its decent Peruvian chicken. The experience I will admit varies significantly. One day the pollo will be tasty and juicy and then the next dry and tasteless. Pretty obvious that consistency is an issue from the 6 times ive been there. Its convenient and cheap so overall good value. read more

This place is the real deal. Limited menu. Lots of Spanish speakers ordering things. Inka Cola on sale (and DIET Inka Cola?). The cole slaw is a little watery/liquidy, but other than that the chicken is delicious and the plantains are to die for. And it's pretty cheap, to boot. read more
