There's not a lot of ambiance inside, so I was hoping the food would make up for it. It did for the most part. The grilled chicken bowl was huge and flavorful, especially when I added some of the spicy verde salsa from the salsa bar. At first I was disappointed that we only received a small bag of tortilla chips (not self serve any more as others have posted), but I didn't even end up finishing them because they were thick and under-seasoned. I stopped by for lunch during my work break and ordered a chicken and beef bowl along with a pineapple drink. When I got back to work and opened my food, the first thing I noticed was a hair wrapped around a piece of chicken. I immediately called the restaurant to report the issue. The employee I spoke with only offered to remake the meal, but I explained that I was on my lunch break and had already returned to work. Driving back was not a realistic option, and after work the restaurant is out of my way and I have other responsibilities. What disappointed me most was the lack of customer service. The employee seemed annoyed by my call, and despite being told a manager would contact me, I never received a callback. After spending over $20 on my meal and water down drink, finding a hair in my food, receiving what felt like poor customer service, and never hearing back from management was very disappointing. Mistakes happen, but how a business handles those mistakes matters just as much. read more

Really good Al Pastor pork bowl, the quac is spot on. I'm a little disappointed they don't have fresh brewed iced tea. I mean this is Texas after all. Having said that, Diet Pepsi is my go to beverage if I can't get fresh brewed tea, they have that plus the fresh lime slices that make it so much more drinkable. I think they did pretty well for the location they have. The floors are probably clean but they are kind of cracked and spotted. Don't look great. You can tell that you're spending money on the food, not the ambiance. It's comfortable and the food today was really good. Service is prompt and there were no language issues. We thought they were very friendly, going out of their way to show us the self serve chips, something I don't remember seeing at other places, at least in the past 3 decades. First time visit out of curiosity resulted in fulfilling meal. Carne asada taco offered genuine street taco flavor (albeit onion topping was abit non original vs true street taco experience) with the fire grilled steak meat tender and juicy. Flame grilled Chicken was simply delicious and offers more zest filled with herbs and spices that explode in the mouth with each bite. Finger licking good! Only disappointment was the Pina flavored agua Fresca that seemed very very water down. I'd go back to eat the tacos and flame grilled. We live near the area and wanted to try this new business out. The parking was vast since it was in the shopping center and it was easy to find since it's right off the freeway. Once we arrived we could tell that they just opened and we're adding to the dinning area. The manager was very helpful and introduced himself and explained how the business was moving further south from Austin. We ended up ordering the #1 which cones with a whole chicken a pint of rice and a pint of beans, along with corn tortillas. They also had military discount which is definitely a plus! The food was ready for pick up right when you order and the salsa and condiments are there for you to choose from. Once we had our first bite, we were externally satisfied! The rice was delicious, the beans were perfect, and the chicken was juicy! Even the Salsa verde and habanero salsa was delicious! The manager stated that everything is made first thing in the morning. And that we should try the tacos and other items on the menu too! They are just as good, if not better! Placed an order through their own website for the super fries. The staff told me they couldn't make it for whatever reason, as if they don't have all the ingredients in the store already. Maybe take it off the menu then? So I asked for a refund, the front counter person told me I would have to contact the phone number on the website. Okay I guess? Went home to call the number and the number just hangs up every time. Don't waste your time or your money on this place. There's a bout hundred better taco places around anyways. Hit up Monterrey Cafe or Butcher Boy for WAY BETTER food and WAY BETTER prices. read more

I mean NOBODY ever met my liking until I came here and saw they had carne asada fries. We tried the whole chicken meal. The grilled chicken is very flavorful. The charro beans are the best I've tasted from any of the pollo asado places. If you dine-in they have a self-serve chips and salsa station with all the essentials. Everything was delicious! Give them a try! It's an easy stop if you're going to the outlets. read more

Yesterday (12/22/24), I brought my family to have Sunday dinner at Pollo Regio in New Braunfels, TX and we did not have a good experience at all. First of all, the cashier taking the order did not know how to speak English so we were having trouble ordering. She kept having to use a translator on her phone. Then she told me (through the translator) that they were out of whole chickens and all they had was a half chicken left. I was kind of in disbelief since this whole establishment's main food dish is supposed to be chicken. Anyways, since my family was hungry, I just ordered the half chicken they had left and a few other items. As we waited for our food we munched on the chips and salsa (well what was left of the chips they had), however, there was no more pico de Gallo, which was the only non spicy salsa that we wanted. Then our food came out but she failed to give us any of our rice and beans that came with our meals. We kept having to ask her for them. The bathrooms were dirty and smelly. But the last thing that made us never want to come back again was when we saw one of the ladies cleaning the windows on the salsa bar and she was spraying her cleaning spray all over the outside and inside of the windows of the salsa bar and you can clearly see all the chemicals that she just sprayed fall into all the salsas. I could not believe what I was seeing! Why would you spray cleaning solution over an open salsa bar?? I felt sick to my stomach and am closely monitoring my kids in case they feel sick from food poisoning. I wondered why there was no one at the restaurant when we got there, and now I know why. We will not be going to Pollo Regios again. read more

I live a few blocks away and for the money.. the quality and taste of food here.. there's nothing better in New Braunfels not to mention the friendly people working there. The place is super clean and well taken care of. Plenty of parking space. I love the clean and good tasting salsa bar too. I think they earn at least a 4.9 stars here read more

And POLLO REGIO is always on point with everything.. the customer service is great! And Allison is such a kind soul and always ready to serve with amazing customer service for her customers! I totally recommend it 100%.. i understand that they get pretty busy and all us humans need is patience!!! OH AND THE GREEN SALSA IS BOMB!!!!!! The amount and quality of the food was ridiculous for the price. I got the regio platter. It came with enough meat to make 2 small tacos. The chicken flautas that my wife and son got were fried to a crisp with some of them only being half filled with chicken. I was to angry to complain. I FINALLY found the BEST tacos in town. My photo I already ate one The chicken is REAL grilled chicken. The barbacoa is tender and not overpowering delicious flavor. Their salsa there's like 5 kinds (one green one red mild the rest hot) and are delicious. The taco meal comes with onion, cilantro and GRILLED onion like it's supposed to.
