For appetizers we got the empanadas and ceviche which were both ok. We also had the vegetable soup which was really good! For our main course we all shared the Paella de Mariscos - 2 orders was more than enough for our table of 7 - I definitely recommend sharing! This dish was amazing! When I got my food the quesadilla in question had chicken on it and was sitting in a pool of water/oil. I didn't even get to ask if I could come get a new one when the worker who answered repeatedly told me that I was wrong. I went over the receipt that Pollo Rico attaches to their bags for delivery that it was noted no chicken or veggies. He said no no no and repeated that isn't what was on the order. I asked to speak with a manager and was told no. I have been a loyal customer of theirs for years and love their food and the service is normally superb. This place is solid. Ive eaten here for yrs. Havent ordered from here in several mos however the beef stew soup is delicious it comes with rice and the empanadas are very good too. The soup is about $12. Empanadas about $1.75 or so each. If the empanadas were as good as the soup i would give it 5 stars. The staff they have is always very attentive. Warmly greeted by staff. It's been 3 years since I've dined at this Colombian family owned restaurant but it felt like yesterday. Recognized many friendly faces. Husband and I sat at bar and watched TV on one of the three large screens they have in this area. Started with quality made Margaritas but noticed the glasses were a smaller version of what I'm use to in other restaurants. Not a big deal but they do charge $10. We were served rolls. May I suggest you serve hot crispy bread or chips and salsa. Customers would be very pleased. Appetizer was empanadas $8, 2 ground chicken 2 ground beef with a hot green sauce. Served crispy and piping hot. Pretty good, I believe this is a customer favorite. For dinner husband had Grilled steak $23.95 and said it was done perfect, very pleased. I chose Arroz Con Poll $12.95. I did like it but not as expected. It was yellow rice with very fine shredded chicken and a small blend of vegetables. It reminded me of a side item not a meal. Overall we were satisfied. This restaurant deserves 5 stars because it is a lovely establishment and serves authentic quality ingredients with a smile. Staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. Asks us several times if all was ok and did we need anything. Thank you for filling up our water glasses without asking. Excellent. The wait staff were so friendly and attentive. My husband started with the chili, which was delicious, but more like a beef stew with cheese, made with small steak bites. The beef and chicken empanadas weren't great, we have had better. I don't like the filling to be a baby food consistency. I had the osso bucco (pictured) over yellow rice - amazing!! The gravy was delicious. My husband had the stuffed chicken special (also pictured), which was stuffed with mozzarella, ricotta and spinach. Again, delicious gravy and he enjoyed the dish. Alright story time, so we arrive at this restaurant at 7:30pm. The host said there would be a 20 minute wait because there was a very large party being served. 20 minutes later, the host is poking his head in and out of the dinning room looking confused and not saying a word. Every person that walks in, he repeats the same thing, "20 minute wait" and doesn't say a word more. Fast forward to 45 minutes later, we're finally seated. While we were seated we waited another 10 minutes to get water and a waiter. I hate the lack of communication if there's going to be a long wait, don't say "20 minutes" to everyone... be honest is the party is taking a long time, just let everyone know they're taking a long time. There were many upset customers tonight. There's tons of room in their restaurant, but I think they have a lack of staff in general. Right now I'm looking around and there's about 12 other tables around me with just water. I think they really need to hire more staff. It's sad to see a place with great popularity and so much potential, yet terrible service. First thing I noticed. The restaurants segregates you. Spanish in the darker room in the back and the white people front room by the window. Secondly the food is Uber expensive and portions small and not the best. Pork brine was not even cooked well and not much meat to eat. . Lastly I did not expect since it was 3 adults and 2 children (1&3) was that they added the tip automatically after they charged the card. When I asked she mentioned that on the weekends they tend to automatically add the tip for you. This is deceptive! This place really went down hill. I used to be very excited to get the Arroz con Pollo whenever I was in the neighborhood. (Maybe once a month or 2) The quality of the food declined with every order. I got $100 in takeout yesterday. Very bland, the Arroz Valenciana didn't have clams or mussels, only chicken and shrimp. And what really pushed me to make this review was the surprise I found in my Arroz con Pollo! It was a metal piece from the dishwasher's scrubbing thing. Adorable place. I came the day after halloween it was still all decorated for the holiday, fun atmosphere. The bar area was big and they had a dj this friday night . I had 2 margs at the bar while I waited for my food. I got there a little before 9 but the food didnt come out till about 945 . It was a pretty long wait . The parking lot was pretty full, I didnt see the dining area but a busy night in the could of been the delay. The bartender was very sweet and she made a good drink. I want to come back and try it for dining in. He was demanding tips and even had the audacity to insult and be confrontational when he saw the tip amount. The female owner is incapable of training. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. I am surprised that this restaurant got an overall 4 star! It wasn't my choice to go here as I am always a bit wary about trying new mexican restaurants around this area. I am always expecting to be utterly disappointed because I've eaten so much cheap and delicious spanish food in queens. Anyway, I got dragged here and my expectations were low. The decor and ambiance was nice and the place was about half full on a saturday night. We ordered the antojos ricos for appetizer and it had buffalo wings, fried cassava, chicken quesadilla, and empanadas. The empanadas were filled with some flavorless meat and potato mush. The buffalo wings were decent but hey they are not very latin american are they? The chicken quesadillas tasted ok, but I like the tortilla slightly more cooked/crispy so that they won't be so floppy with the filling all falling out. Fried cassavas were nicely fried. For the mains, we had the pollo a la parrilla, a wrap/burrito to which we added shrimp, and bandeja tipica. The wrap was 70% filled with rice, 20% with beans, 9.9% lettuce, tomatoes, and onions, and 0.1% shrimp. Oh yeah, they didn't have any avocados that night so no avocados in anything that was supposed to have it. The wrap had NO flavor! I was expecting a bit more for the pollo a la parrilla but it was so dry and flavorless. The plantains were niced cooked but it had a strange light syrupy coating. Their chimichurri sauce was too watery and needed more herbs and spices. The steak in the bandeja tipica was nicely cooked and tender, but too bad the accompanying chimichurri sauce was so lacking. Overall, it was a disappointment to my already low expectations, and I was glad that the others agreed it's not worth coming back. read more

The menu feels limited and for your first time being there you get the feeling you aren't going to enjoy the food. The service is great and the atmosphere is very cute. What a great place. We came here on a Saturday night. It was not too busy when we arrived but it didn't take long before it was crowded. We chose to sit at the bar. The staff warmly greeted us. They were so helpful and attentive to all our needs. I ordered a margarita it was made perfect. They put out a bread basket which is nice. A suggestion is if the bread was warm and/or chips and salsa. All the waitresses were very attentive to us and made sure we had everything we needed. For an appetizer we ordered the little bit of everything it was quesadillas, meat patties, chicken wings and fried cassava. The platter was cooked with just the right amount of spices. We started with the empanadas...two beef and two chicken. Ehhh...the shell of the empanadas is somewhat thicker than I'm used to and it was a little hard in some spots. The beef was ground up and okay...I liked the chicken better. The green sauce that comes with it is very good. I wouldn't order this app again though. The bread that comes out to start with was dry and a little crumbly. You get butter packets like from the diner. I had a grilled pork dish that was very tasty. I like that you can pick your two sides. The white rice is tasty and the steamed veg was fine. My friend got the beef brisket and it was stewed in a tomato based sauce. It was okay but I wouldn't order it if I went back. We tried the flan for dessert and it had a good caramel flavor. I would get it again. Our waters were always refilled and although it was a Friday night, it wasn't too busy. We were never rushed or felt like we had to leave after finishing dessert.
