side salad that comes with 1/2 Pollo a la Braza
    Gail B.

I came here for lunch today. Some tables were dirty, and upon my request the waitress, Suzette, promptly cleaned them. I ordered a half of chicken with yucca fries and a side salad. The chicken skin was tasty, but the meat was relatively dry. The yucca fries were cut large. They were just okay. I have had better salad elsewhere. I ordered a side of "yellow"rice, which was interspersed with white rice. Suzette explained that the cooks make the white rice first and "then add color to it". I prefer yellow rice, which gets its coloring solely from saffron. I also had a glass of sangria, which was strong and tasty. I will never come back here again. For quality Spanish food, I prefer going to the Upper West Side's Flor del Mayo. I gave an outstanding review for that restaurant. I also like the Spanish food in Floridita, which is located in nearby Hamilton Heights. I was the only diner at Chicken Place. I could taste why.

    Lomo Saltado de Carne

This place is always packed. Steak in the lomo saltado was very dry and over cooked. It included a ton of onions, about two slices of tomato. Green sauce is delicious, perfect amount of heat. Had to get the waitstaff's attention to get water and our bill at the end. Though everyone did seem to be working hard. Decor is basic - giant projector screen back near the bathrooms that they use to play music.

This review is based mostly on the food because I chose to do take out rather than dine in. Had the Chaufa rice and had to get 1/2 chicken being that this is the Chicken Palace. The rice is the best I have had in Medford. The chicken was perfectly cooked , flavorful and juicy. By far the best rice I have had in Medford. Portions are plentiful & basically for 2 people. You will have leftovers. Service was fine for take out. Couple of young ladies. Limited English. But I reverted to my Spanglish and it was fine. No explanation or guidance on their food so you are pretty limited to the menu. The location is in a strip mall off of 112 surrounded by empty stores. Almost looks abandoned. I have driven by her so many times and did not have a clue what type of food it was until I went to Yelp. Decor needs some serious work. Looks like they slapped a fresh coat of paint covering up whatever the old location had. Just looks sloppy. They had a bar with no liquor ( leftover from the old place ). They run the takeout from here but it's the first thing you see they should dress this up. The biggest problem it they had broken or stained drop ceiling tiles. This has always grossed me out. It's a shame I have seen a lot of these places open and close. They invest so much to open and then just sit there and wait for customers to come in. They need to advertise better, clean up and sell their product. And yes they have the product. On food alone I would give them a 5 star.

    Hot crispy deliciously seasoned chicken

Food & service are excellent . Favorite place for a roasted chicken , yuca fries , salad, rice, beans.

    Sitting in menu.

Located in a strip mall the place may be small in square footage but big on ambiance. We arrived about 6pm and were lucky enough to score a two seat table. It was almost filled to capacity with lots of diners enjoying their meals. With great Latin music playing and laid back vibe, I was looking forward to a great meal. John our server was polite and efficient. We started off with traditional Peruvian golden lager, Cusquena. Crisp and delicious! Two ceviche appetizers and two steak entrees. We're ceviche lovers and throughly enjoyed those dishes. The Honey enjoyed his Lomo Saltado. The traditional Peruvian stir fry dish. Strips of beef sirloin, red peppers, onions and tomatoes. Served with French fries and white rice. My Tacu Tacu Steak with rice and beans was a hit, and miss. The steak was tough and the rice and beans, really "starchy". It's hard to explain they tasted heavy and sticky. The portions are generous so I had leftovers for home. Surprisingly, the dish tasted better the next day. The menu highlights their Happy Hour and Wine Down Wednesdays. We're looking forward to returning for one or both :) of those! For some warm vibes, good service and fresh food this place is worth a visit. Thank me later.....

The food was very scrumptious, I had one of the best dishes I've ever had. It's called the Causa Limeña Cevichada. I LOVE ceviche de pescado, and this dish is paired with smooth mashed potatoes. It is a cold dish, and I love it just like that. If you don't like ceviche, you can also pair it with a Lomo Saltado. My drink was very good too! I wish I had another Picchu Margarita, but I had to drive back home. Will definitely be back sooner.

In English: As a Peruvian, I know what authentic Peruvian food should taste like, and this experience fell far below expectations. I encourage diners to carefully review both their food and their bill before paying. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant and unfortunately my experience was very disappointing. The food did not taste fresh and seemed reheated. I started with the yuca a la huancaína, but the sauce was overly thick, lacked the authentic flavor and ingredients, and did not resemble the dish shown on the restaurant's website. The yuca itself tasted like frozen yuca. For main course, I ordered fish fillet and corvina, a traditional Peruvian fish that was also one of the more expensive menu items. The dish arrived cold, dry, and lacking freshness. The side of beans was dry and flavorless, and the sweet plantains were overly ripe and extremely greasy. I brought these concerns to the waiter's attention and showed him my plate, explaining that I did not want to eat the dish. I did not order a replacement because I was dissatisfied with the quality of the food. When the bill arrived, I was charged for the meal I did not eat, and a 20% gratuity had already been added. This was not clearly disclosed, and I only discovered it after questioning an additional charge on the bill. When I asked to speak with the manager, I learned it was the same person who had served us. My concerns were not addressed, and I was required to pay the full amount.

I love peruvian, particularly Saltado but I don't eat beef anymore so I went with the pollo saltado and let me say it was better than 95 percent of saltados I have had including the lomos. I didn't miss the beef! The chicken was juicy and tender the fries were deliciously soaked in the most amazing sauce. It was drinkable that sauce. The creamy green sauce was a great addition to the dish but it was so good on its own. The portion size was enormous! Easily had three meals out of it. My spouse had the pollo chaufa and we both thought it was one of the best chicken fried rice type dishes ever. The fried nuts (seeds?) they provide complimentary were sooo addictive. It was hard not to keep eating them. Finally the service was really excellent. The woman who waited on us could not have been kinder and more friendly. 10/10 all around great food and service.

The empanadas were large and underwhelming. There is a lot of variety in empanadas across Latin America, but these were just middling at best and completely lacking in flavor. Milford's restaurant week was happening, and Costa Peru was on my list, so I decided to go there. My family ordered seafood, while I went with the Peruvian Chicken Wings topped with Peruvian Barbecue sauce, Ceviche Chicken Wings, and Lomo Salado. I was particularly curious about the Ceviche wings because I'd never heard of them before. The ceviche sauce is inspired by Aji Limo Ceviche, a lively Peruvian dish featuring fresh, raw white fish like sea bass or flounder "cooked" in lime juice, seasoned with citrusy, spicy Aji Limo peppers, red onions, and cilantro. It's usually served with sweet potato, corn, and leche de tigre (tiger's milk), offering a tart, spicy, and refreshing flavor. The Ceviche wings were fantastic. They had a bright citrus kick, and I could taste all the distinct flavors, including the spices and chilies. They really hit the spot. The barbecue wings were just as enjoyable, with a sweet yet tangy sauce and perfectly seasoned chicken. The Lomo Salado was also a hit; the rice was fluffy and full of flavor, and the tender Lomo meat practically melted in my mouth. For dessert, I ordered the flan. It was my first time trying it, and I was curious about the taste. Honestly, I didn't care much for the texture, but I'm glad I gave it a shot. My son picked the Passion Fruit Cheesecake, which was pretty good. It's not something I'd order again, but I'm glad I tried it. The service was excellent, and I'm definitely looking forward to returning and trying more dishes from the menu.
