We went in this week for the Tropichop and 1/4 chicken dinner. Prices are very reasonable. I noticed they had a pile of chicken on the grill just sitting there, I don't like that. You have to wonder how long it was going to sit. It would have been nicer to see them cooking up fresh chicken continuously. Regardless, my 1/4 chicken white tasted very good. And for under $6 with one side, it's quite the deal. I had plantains which weren't that great. The brown rice was a bit dry. The Tropichop was boring and not a lot of chicken. This chain has really gone downhill. A recent set of corporate changes have pushed down the quality of menu offerings and customer experience. The delicious waffle fries they once had are now gone replaced with generic straight fries. Instead of the tropical guava bars on the kids menu, they now have hard chocolate chip cookies, the food isn't brought out to you hot anymore. The fun Caribbean music is replaced with generic pop music. I can live with a lot of this, but the thing that is unacceptable is the filth and lack of management. We came in with a party of five about 30 minutes after opening. Walking up to the door it was apparent that the door had not been cleaned in a while as there were smudges and fingerprints all over the glass that might have built up for days. Came for the ribs and was told they wouldn't be ready for another hour. Simply poor planning. Tables were filthy and not cleaned. Told manager and he said he would take care of it and never did. Had to clean a table ourselves to eat. Then the true testament of how the restaurant is run was the disgusting bathrooms. We were afraid to touch anything in there. This was all 30 minutes after opening when the place should still be in good shape. I had the mojo pork, yellow rice, and a drink. The pork was great. The yellow rice was dry. I had to ask for ice and a lid to my cup. They were out of small lids, ice, and sauce cups.
