WORST Pollo Tropical in town. Tried to eat there last night and they were out of dark chicken. This was not late at night, either. How does a chicken place run out of legs and thighs? For being a fast food joint, and me being a Cuban food junkie this is the perfect place to grab a recession-proof dinner. Not to mention it's healthy. I first came here 6 years ago and the menu options are simple but they have killer combinations. The Cuban Black Beans & White Rice is amazing! They have a very good recipe for that, all types of good seasonings in that alone. The grilled marinated shrimp, chicken, and steak are great. They have to be using some pineapple/lime infused marinade, because it's has a great kick, serve that up with plantains and it brings me back to a backyard BBQ in Havana. The dinner rolls are so soft and chewy....man, I am craving some of that right now. I would jump on a plane and fly from Chicago to Miami to get some of that. I love this place read more

I love Pollo Tropical, but whoever manages this location is making me change my mind. The Lady from the drive through at 10pm on Monday 24th is beyond rude! We ordered a whole chicken family meal and they told us that they were out of stock on maduros and we also had to wait for 10 minutes because they didn't have chicken ready, which I don't mind, but the way she said it like she was doing us a favor is what upsets me. I rather take a longer drive and go to the one on 116th and Kendall, than coming to this location. read more

Even though, it's considered a fast food restuarant and you kind of expect the same thing in all the same PT, this one is my favorite. I come here for lunch often since it's near my job and they are very QUICK. Even though, I loveeee Chicken Grill that's in the next shopping center, they usually take too long. THIS PT always get my order right and they don't burn the chicken breast. I don't know why when I go to other PT, I always get burnt chicken. I love their chicken sandwiches... ohhh and their cilantro garlic :)YUM :) If you're in the are and in a rush, this is definitely a good place to stop at...And you can get some good deals for lunch.. Yeah, it's fast food, but I love it! We need one of these in Hawaii - it'd fit right in with the island decor! In some ways, their rice and bean bowls kind of remind me of Chipotle, which we also don't have in Hawaii. Fresh and tasty for sure...but totally bummed when I found out they stopped serving tostones. Say what!? Can you believe that? They did have some cheesy yucca balls that were pretty good though. When I come to Miami I load up on all this delicious food and gain ten pounds, but it's well worth it! And did I say inexpensive? Love me some Pollo Tropical! read more

So, we never write reviews but we can't seem to let this experience go. It's not the first time we've had issues with our orders at this location. This time around, there were just too many errors. First, it was only about two hours away from closing time, and they were running out of meat. Although we've told them while they were preparing our order to please make sure everything is there, once we came home, we realized our order of fries were missing. So, we had to drive back to claim our fries. Then, we realized the order of rice and beans were missing. There was barely any chicken breast in our chicken order, and, to add insult to injury, there was hair in our meat. Never again. I don't know how they're still open. 1 star is more than deserved. Would urge anyone to avoid this awful place. Not only was our food received almost an hour after we were told to pick up, but the staff was unbelievably disrespectful. We tried to confirm our order and they wouldn't even look at us when trying to speak to them and when they finally spoke to us they were rude to my wife and laughed to her face. It's one thing to be slow but a whole other to be unprofessional and just a bad person. I've always been a PT fan, to the point that it's actually the only food place I miss when I'm off to Northern California, and that's a tall order!! That being said, the PT on 56th street is in my estimation one of the best ones of all the franchises, however with the new cooking method THIS particular PT has devised, the place has gone up several notches. I noticed a few weeks ago that the chicken was suddenly more tender, juicier, and exhibiting a lot less burn marks. After having a need to return several times that week and finding the chicken still the same, I had to venture out and ask one of the managers about it. He told me that indeed, they had changed their cooking style and that now they were "steaming" the chickens first, and then putting them on the grill last. He said this was still only in the experimental stages, but I hope they continue to do it this way. Perhaps other restaurants will follow suit. Definitely a winner!! The new cilantro mayo is also worth an honorable mention. I was a big fan of the curry sauce before, but now I just find myself loading up this new sauce on everything. Wonderful!!! I have been going to pollo tropical for as long as I can remember. The food is great for the price and fast. But today I was treat with attitude. All I did was ask for the caps for the sauces cause they were out. So when I ask for the caps she told me to give her a minute with an attitude. And didn't bother to move a finger. She couldn't even take my order correctly. She got my order wrong. I ate it the way it was so I wouldn't have to go back. And then I ask a young lady for a bag and she was very nice. But when she went to get me a bag another employee ask me what I wanted with attitude. If you don't like your job just quit. Don't treat your customers with attitude when they pay your salary. I have always enjoyed eating the cesar salad as well as quesadilla salad, however approx 2 yrs ago the plastic plates salads are served in became 1/3 smaller. It was fine, however soon thereafter they began seriously watering down the cesar dressing and it was gross since it had the consistency and look of skimmed milk. During the past month I've purchased 2 salads by the drive thru and the amount of chicken is laughable. I parked my car went in the restaurant and spoke to the manager, who explained that he has been instructed that chicken portions for salads should be 2-3 oz. I wonder how they will save money next month? Asking customers to bring their own container for the salad? It's disappointing because I really like their food. read more

This might be the worst Pollo tropical location ever. Once upon a time, their food used to be great but lately the food quality and quantity is totally inconsistent , unacceptable and the service is on slow motion. One day the food can be ok another day it is terrible .You never know what you are going to get. I recently ordered two churrasco tropichops, they came maybe with half a cup of yellow pasty rice that looked it has been is the store for the whole day and three tiny bite size of meat. When asking for for sauce, (if they have the sauce you want on that day) they will give you a little plastic cup that has no more then a table spoon and a half of that sauce. The food that I ordered look nothing like the picture advertised. If you really like Pollo Tropical, maybe another location is your best bet or you will waste time, money and you will be disappointed with the food quality . The entire staff and managers should be retrained or simply replaced. read more

If I could give it no stars, I would. I don't normally post about anything negative but something needs to be done about this location. The staff do not care about the customers. The wait time is very long, and not because it cannot be done at a reasonable time. The lack of fluent English had created a misunderstanding of what I ordered. I originally ordered food from the drive-through. I asked them to repeat the order and every time she did, it sounded wrong. Finally, when I paid for the food, the meal was not ready and they asked me to wait in the parking lot for 5 minutes. Five minutes tuned into 30 minutes, in which I got out of the car and went to the front desk. They did not give me any receipt but I felt I was overcharged for what I received. When I asked for the receipt they ended up charging me for an extra platter. By the time they corrected the food and gave me back the money for the extra platter they charged, was 30 minutes. I have NEVER waited an HOUR for fast food in my life. The staff was talking and trash talking in Spanish in front of the customers, instead of preparing the food. I'm very displeased with the staff in this location. I am a regular customer of Pollo Tropical and experiences like this can make customers never return. read more

Worst service ever. Staff needs more training in how to be considerate and kind to customers. Wish I could give zero stars. Basically threw the food through the window towards us and closed the window before we could ask for a sauce. No forks or napkins either and they got the order wrong. Its cheap and good! Cant believe what u get for that price. I love it. Meat is always tender and I love the fact that u can get your own sauces and as much as u want too! Sometimes they do need to refill it a bit more. The lines can be long tho and the service isnt always very good, but when u get the food u forget all about it. Also the pictures sometimes looks better than the real deal. I like the spareribs too besides the chicken. read more

I finally decided to write this review because lately every time I come here, there's an issue. Today, I ordered a chicken breast meal with a side of balsamic tomatoes and a cesar salad. We also ordered a side of yuca frita. After they ran my credit card, they informed me that they didn't have any yuca frita so the manager came over to give me the difference in cash without giving me the receipt to verify. Once I was given my food, I asked for my receipt and rudely she said it was in my bag. My husband had to point out that we needed the sauces and she proceed to roll her eyes at us. As we drove away, I checked the food and noticed that she gave me corn instead of a cesar salad. Considering how rude she was, we continue driving away. It wasn't bad, it wasn't great, it was good. I ordered a family meal- whole chicken, rice and beans, Cesar salad and 4 bread rolls for $16. Meh. The chicken was yummy but they seriously can't mess that one up! The rice and beans were also great as well as the salad. I like how they now put the dressing on the side because that allows you to put how much you want. (That dressing is really high on calories!) They had their typical salsa bar which their pumps weren't that great but I still managed. The place was pretty clean so no complaints there. read more

Every time I have come to this Pollo Tropical, they forget part of the order. It's worse when it's through the drive thru because then when you come back, they deny they didn't give it to you. I love this place now, before I used to be like meh it's just another chicken place. But then I tried the mojo roast pork and fell in love with it. Disgusting...disgusting...disgusting!!! Went into Pollo Tropical on 56/139 in West Kendall this past Friday night 10/24/2014 between 8:20-8:30 pm to pick up dinner for my wife, son and myself. My order is to go and several others are waiting in queue for the orders. A lady having dinner in the restaurant; walks up to the counter with her plate, (missing half of the side dishes and only having one piece left of her grilled chicken dinner) to request to change the thigh for a "pierna" leg. The attendant thinks nothing of if, takes the piece of chicken from the ladies plate and puts it back in the tray of freshly cooked chicken, then pulls a leg from the same tray, puts it on the plate and serves it back to the lady...another satisfied customer? Meanwhile at least four of us in the queue start chatting amongst us in total disbelief of what we just witnessed, some nearly vomiting... She put the chicken from the customers used plate back in with fresh cooked chicken to serve to someone else! Seriously don't go there, this place is a serious health risk and should be closed until a new management team and crew is brought in. I will not go to any Pollo Tropical ever again...I was a regular customer having eaten at various Pollo tropicals once a week for more than10 years.... Disgusting! read more

I went through the drive-thru at 11:15pm tonight. I ordered a whole chicken with black beans and white rice. This shouldn't be earth shattering, after all it's called Pollo Tropical. Unfortunately, when I got to the window the employee informed me they had no cooked whole chickens nor chicken breast. I asked the employee what they actually had and she proceeded to tell me tropichop chicken and pork. I told her I'd wait for the whole chicken and would be in the lot. She told me it'd be 35 minutes. I said it was fine and waited. After 30 minutes, we walked in to inquire only to be met with all the employees laughing and making fun of us for waiting. There was a red shirt in the group whom I'm assuming is the manager; but, that apparently didn't matter. Needless to say, you're better of going to the one on 8th Street or Kendall. How a restaurant runs out of everything 40 minutes before closing is beyond me. read more

I hate this pollo tropical location. I work late nights and I've tried multiple times to get something to go from here after work. I've come here because "apparently" they're open till midnight. I've come here at around 11:15 to 11:20 and I've been told that they are completely out of chicken. Out of chicken, really??? And I've asked them "if your out of chicken and this is pollo tropical then why are the doors even open?!?!" And I get stares like I'm an alien or something?!?!? Drive through orders are usually always incorrect. Visited last time and we were all asked to wait 15 minutes at least so that they could make more chicken...visited again today and yup, you guessed it, asked to wait again! Extremely poor planning on their part, one thing is keeping it "fresh" so you should wait a bit but when you have to wait as if you were at a real restaurant, then the issue is this poor planning/execution. There are always long lines. The lines move slowly and it takes even longer for your order to be ready to be picked up. A good five to ten minute wait will suffice for how long you can sit down at a table before your order is ready. There are big, live flies flying around the reataurant. Be weary of there presence if you are dining in since they seem to like to land on your food. When ordering, if you are a non Spanish speaker, good luck ordering your food because most workers speak only Spanish or have a strong accent when speaking English. Don't get annoyed when they give you an annoyed face cause they don't understand you. Just be patient and ask around for someone to translate or say your order more clearly and slowly, articulate your words, it'll help. They got our order wrong and it was difficult getting it corrected since we could not communicate with them what we originally wanted. read more
