Wow! Sergio's has stepped it up with the ambiance and the way they deliver. It was quite impressive. Servers were nice. The reason for the three star review was the food and the hostess. The hostess had no sense that their were people waiting at the front to be sat. She was so preoccupied with helping the servers (which was nice) that she neglected the front house (no bueno). My frittata was overcooked and the fries weren't hot enough and lacked in flavor. I was too hungry to wait for it to be made again, so there's that. Regardless, the service was good (overall) and I would go again, but try something else. Check them out and enjoy!

Grilled chicken sandwich. Could use a little more time on that grill!

I've been coming to Sergio's for years, and it has long been a staple for my Cuban food fix. Their croquetas are consistently amazing--perfectly crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside--and the bistec empanizado remains one of my absolute favorites in the area. Unfortunately, the experience has been sliding lately. The service is notoriously slow, most of the employees look like they are dragging their feet just to serve you. Although I usually look past it for the flavors I love, today was a major disappointment. I ordered a chicken sandwich. At first glance the sandwich seemed rather small and left something to be desired. To make matters worse after taking a few bites, I realized the chicken was completely raw in the middle. The manager was very nice and apologetic. He offered a $15 credit but this doesn't really make up for serving raw chicken! It's incredibly disheartening to have a safety issue like this at a place I've supported for so long. Between the sluggish service and now undercooked poultry, I'm really hesitant to come back anytime soon. Sergio's, you guys need to get it together.

Stopped in for breakfast today. We were seated quickly. The restaurant was clean and clutter free. The server took our order within a few minutes and brought out the toasts and coffees right away. The rest of the order took roughly 15-20 minutes. The Cuban toasts were all way too toasted, borderline burnt. The steak for the steak and eggs was pretty tough and dry. The fries came out cold as did the pancakes which were cold and very dry. The cafe con leches were also weak, tasted like boiled milk rather than foamy steamed. Huge disappointment all around. Wouldn't recommend this location and definitely won't be returning.

My son took me to one of his favorite places to eat and it was this Sergio's. But I went back recently to order a sandwich to go and the outside window is not attended as good as if you eat in but I couldn't. It took over 25 min for a sandwich and a cortadito. It was not even that busy and I still tipped

I used to love this spot when I lived in Kendall and was excited for lunch today. We started with 5 croquetas for $8...ok, inflation...unfortunately they were cold. They brought new ones and only 2/5 were fresh and they took the crackers. We both had vaca frita. All of the food was cold and the beans tasted canned. The yucca had no flavor at all. The service took a long time. Definitely underwhelmed and disappointed that it wasn't the Sergio's that I so fondly remember. I hope the next time my favorite cozy Cuban restaurant will be better.

I stopped by for a quick breakfast and coffee while I was in the area. I love Cuban coffee, and the one here was fresh and piping hot--just how I like it. I really enjoyed it! I ordered the Deluxe Sergio Breakfast, which was served hot and tasted great. I also appreciated that the meal included a Cuban coffee, so I ended up with two cups--but I wasn't complaining; it was delicious! The Cuban toast was also fresh, warm, and tasty--my son ate every piece of it. The only downsides were the service and seating. Our server didn't speak much English and seemed a bit tired, which may have explained her attitude. Additionally, I was seated directly under an air vent, which made my food cool down quickly, and I felt uncomfortably cold. I asked to move before my food and coffee arrived, but unfortunately, I couldn't escape the air conditioning no matter where I sat. Despite these minor issues, I would definitely return. The restaurant is very clean, beautifully decorated, and serves great food and coffee!

Sergio's is usually a good staple for Cuban food, and you can find them throughout the city. Based on the countless experiences at the numerous locations (Coral Gables, Doral, West Miami and Kendall), I normally rate them a 4. However, based on this experience this past weekend at this location, a 3. The service was terrible and that always takes away from a nice experience. My water was not refilled throughout the whole dining time. The croquetas were terrible, nothing like the croquetas I've had before. The tacos and yuca were tasteless. The breaded chicken breast, same, putting a ton of lime on it kind of helped. Their crema de malanga was sadly subpar too. The vaca frita and tostones saved us all a bit lol One thing I do normally recommend from Sergio's and have ordered it for catering several times, is their arroz imperial. Yum. Parking at this location is also a hassle, as it is located in a shopping mall.

Came for dinner around 7 pm. We were promptly seated and ordered the following: *Cuban sampler (pork belly chicharron + tamal + yuca frita + marquitas) *Shrimp creole (shrimp in tomato sauce) with rice & black beans & tostones (upcharge of $1.50) *Cuban sandwich (ham + pork + Swiss cheese +pickles + mustard + cuban bread) * Empanizado de pollo (crispy breaded chicken a la milanesa: ham + tomato sauce + melted swiss cheese) with fries & boiled yuca *Vaca frita (flat iron grilled shredded beef + cooked onions + Sergio's garlic onions) with fries & ensalada rusa (potato salad) I don't really know how to describe the potato salad. It wasn't good. Sour? Vinegary? Don't get it because you'll be disappointed like I was. The Cuban platter was the best thing we had all night. It was really good! I particularly liked the mariquitas and the chicharron. Would definitely order again.

This order was for a birthday dinner. He ordered pork, yuca, plantains and black rice for the group. It all came as a dinner for 8 to 10 people. I don't eat pork so chicken and rice was ordered for me. I did taste the pork and did not like it. Now, even though I don't really eat pork I have had a couple bites that I enjoyed years ago. This pork was dry and nobody else seemed to like it either. The black beans and rice were very bland. I did like the yuca and the plantains were good although I never eat more than one because they are so sweet. I did not eat much of the chicken and rice. The rice was very bland and not flavorful. This was shredded chicken and well, I did not like it. No flavor. I always at least like arroz con Pollo and usually love it. I have never had shredded chicken in arroz con Pollo before. This was a to go order so maybe the food is better when you dine in the restaurant.

We came in the evening and immediately, as we walked up, there was music, people laughing, talking, smiling... the energy was incredible. I also loved that there was a bar off to the side while waiting. We ordered a few mojitos and sat outside at the tables and benches, just enjoying the atmosphere. When our name was finally called and we walked inside, I genuinely felt like I was stepping into history. The atmosphere here is unmatched. The music, the aromas, the people. God, I loved it here and I hadn't even tried the food yet. We ordered the braised oxtail (which came with plantains and rice), salmon glazed in guava BBQ sauce, ceviche tropical, assorted empanadas, and a Cuban sandwich. Everything was phenomenal. The sauce paired with the empanadas perfectly. The guava BBQ glaze on the salmon was absolute perfection. It was the perfect combo of sweet, smoky, and flavorful. The ceviche had the perfect acidity and tasted so fresh and refreshing. This is one of the most famous Cuban restaurants in Miami. It completely lives up to the reputation. Highly recommended

DIRT AND MUD IN THE SALAD!!! WATCH OUT…read more We ordered the salad with mango and pecans. They do not wash there lettuce. There was literally dirt/mud at the bottom and I took my first bite and it felt like biting into sand. Upon spitting the food out onto my plate it was black sludge. Literally my tongue and teeth were black. The waiter came by and grabbed the plate when I was in the bathroom. I spent about 10 minutes trying to get that BLACK SLUDGE out of my mouth. When I was spitting out the dirt/mud wife noticed the bus boys laughing at me and there was not a manger in sight. When I asked for a manager he did not even respond. No apology or anything just a look of confusion. Worst experience in a restaurant in my life and I love to eat and have been to many types of restaurant big and small. Cheap and expensive and this one takes the cake. We were so bummed as I see thousands of great reviews. But if there was a zero I would have given zero stars the way they handled the situation. If you eat there in the future make sure to check for DIRT/MUD.

Regardless when we arrived they sat us outside which is exactly what we were hoping for. Our server was nice at first. Explained all the popular dishes got our drinks out very quickly. I think she stole our table from someone else because shortly after someone came and we told them we put our order in and he seemed a little bothered. Unfortunately, our other server disappeared and never checked up on us. We pretty much didn't have any napkins during our entire duration of our meal. At least that part was good. We started off with a couple of mojitos and their Vaca Frita Tostones. You get these homemade maduro tostones topped off with shreeded beef in a moon sauce, pickled onion, and aji Amarillo aioli. A very delicious dish that didn't last long. Shortly after we received our main dish. I really hate when they do that. My wife ordered their Abuelas Ropa Vieja and I ordered their Masa de Puerco Chino. My wife didn't really care for her dish much. We've had plenty of Ropa Vieja before and would have preferred a congri type of rice as opppsed to just plain white rice. My dish was 10/10. Like in the name of "chino" this is an Asian inspired dish with fried rice, maduros, pineapple confit and crispy pork. A very delicious dish. It could have don't without the little salad on top, but at least it ads color to the dish. The crispy pork tasted so amazing and the fried had so much flavor. Mix in some of the maduros and you get a sweet and savory dish. Would definitely be returning to try this dish again.

We ordered the Cuban sandwich and the Cuban burger, and honestly both were dangerously good. The Cuban sandwich was exactly what you hope for -- crispy bread, perfectly pressed, packed with flavor, and the kind of sandwich that makes you pause mid-bite and just nod at the person across from you like "yep... this was the right decision." The Cuban burger was also fantastic -- juicy, flavorful, and big enough that you start questioning whether you should have skipped breakfast. The area around the restaurant was great too. We stopped here at this one on Espanola Way for dinner on a Sunday, primarily because we had somewhere else in this area to be afterward, and while most every place on this touristy street was packed with a wait list, this restaurant could seat us right away. Service was good all evening from an outgoing waiter, this place was great for people watching (we were seated at a high top on the sidewalk in front), the food was good and the prices were reasonable, especially considering that Espanola Way is one of the most touristy areas on already touristy Miami Beach. I had the signature roasted chicken ($28) and my husband the Cuban churrasco steak ($42) and both included sides. We also had a glass of wine each and again, wine prices were reasonable. While we don't tend to eat in this general area often as it is so touristy which usually equals lackluster food and service at high prices, Havana 1957 was just fine. I'd happily return here.
