Placed an order for pickup, was standing in the pick up section and employees would make eye contact and quickly look away and start doing something else. Horrible HORRIBLE customer service I waiting in line for 20 minutes and turns out they don't take apple pay thru drive thru guys! I asked if the could take my order and just let my pay inside they said no i have to make the line AGAIN and pay there. I waited to get out of the drive thru line and went inside. I go in and see 4 people in line. They didn't take the first person until about 15 min later.... I went to the counter to ask if they were taking orders in the front because everyone was just waiting around and they payed us no mind. Came here for the first time with my boyfriend and his family for a quick bite to eat while we were visiting. They were telling me how packed this place gets. How there are HUGE lines for the drive-thru and the inside occasionally there are barely any places to sit. Lucky for us, we went during the weekday during the day time. Personally, I still do not know what the hype is all about. This place is LITERALLY, just okayyyyy. The food wasn't exactly fresh and the inside resembled an average fast food establishment. There wasn't anything I ate that I could happily say, I loved, everything was simple average or below average. The plus side was the price of the food which was not too bad and the portions were pretty big. Two stars because the food is decent No stars for customer service I understand due the wearing of masks, orders may get mixed up, the staff should be aware and prepared for this also. The person who took my order got somethings wrong. When I advised the staff at the window she got the correction incorrect. No problem we are both behind masks so I advise her. Now she has an attitude. Huffing and puffing mumbling to her co workers. She brings it back now no sauces...I let her know and request enough for 6 -8 people ( I have a family meal and 3 large tropichops). She says that is extra and rolls her eyes. Tonight I was "Wowed" by the customer service at this location. Our food took an inordinate amount of time to come out. The manager came out to personally apologize and give us a free drink. When the food was finally ready the manager came back to our table to apologize again and ask if everything was ok with the food. This type of service is not expected at a fast food restaurant. This is probably the worst customer service I have ever experienced at a Pollo Tropical. No one seemed to want to work the front end of the store. I ordered off of the mobile app, the items I ordered were not at the mobile pick up area and no one was interested in working at the register when I was at the store, so my food was waiting there for 10 minutes until someone acknowledged my existence. I will say one VERY unsanitary practice I saw was a worker using a cleaver that was used to cut cooked chicken to open up a box. The cleaver was then placed back on the food prep area and another staff member used the same cleaver to cut up the chicken. Yeah... disgusting. I couldn't believe how dirty this place was. From the parking lot, the ramp to the door with what looks like old stains. The dressings bar was disgusting, they replenished it while I was there but did not clean it. I have to give them that the service was fast and the cashier as well as the person that served me were very nice, attentive and very pleasant, smiling at all the times. The food was as expected in terms of flavor. They even gladly exchanged my chicken when I pointed out it wasn't very well cooked.
