I place my order which was a large original extra chicken and leave the skin(we all know that's where the flavor is) i was told the skin was extra. New policy. I was told because they realized people were taking the skin so they charge now. They charged a dollar. Not 20 cents. A dollar for a tiny piece of skin that came off the chicken breast I just ordered. When I call corporate they said it was due to the rising price of the chicken. They get charged by the weight. I argued that the skin is not that much in the weight of a breast. They were not hearing it. What's next. Terrible establishment, the portions are terrible and cooking of the chicken was abysmal. The chicken either comes cold and burnt or hot and undercooked. The only thing worse than the food is the staff, they are not helpful whatsoever and quite frankly rude. Clearly the management at this location have given up because the grill looked disgusting as well as the tables and chairs. Most tables had rice and other ingredients on them left there for god knows how long, and the tables that weren't covered in old crusty food had a sticky film all over it. I have met the chickenoligist at a much nicer location and I can say for sure he would be DISGUSTED with this location and management. This place needs to be health coded and soon. They need to periodically change the cutting board, while one is being properly washed replace it with a clean one. The cutting boards look filthy all the time. I saw an employee one time wipe it with a dirty cloth laying around, the same cloth repeatedly used to wipe the board. Another time I saw an employee cutting the bread right through the plastic bag and using the same knife to cut chicken, cross contaminating the bread with the plastic, and the chicken with the knife. Let me preface this by saying I am a lifelong chicken kitchen customer, been coming here my whole life basically. To cut to the chase the chicken portions have gotten out of control. I get a large usually and they give you probably 1/10th of a whole chicken. Places like Pollo give you way more. I've held off on this review for a while now because it holds a place in my heart, but what really threw me over the edge is the sauce stinginess. If you order a small you only get two curry, 3rd is 55 cents extra. Like cmon, you're already charging me $10 for a rice bowl with 7 cubes of chicken in it. Chicken Kitchen used to be my former go-to place for healthy fast food and grilled chicken. I used to think that they were the best and healthiest fast food option...until I discovered Pollo Tropical. Sorry Chicken Kitchen, but compared to Pollo, your chicken is rather bland and under-seasoned. I came by for the nostalgic feel, and the fact I was already in the strip mall shopping for school supplies at Payless, as well as Office Depot afterwards, but this was just a reminder as to why I prefer Pollo (which not only offers the mustard curry sauce, but other sauce options). The food is healthy and prices are quite reasonable. I remember Chicken Kitchen using lemon (and perhaps thyme?) some years ago to season their chicken. They should consider going back to that recipe, because I remember the chicken being more flavorful, unless this location just doesn't season it as well as the Suniland location. As someone else mentioned, portions seem to be getting smaller too. I ended up buying the large carb-free chop chop, and I got my daughter a small deluxe, but years ago, the small deluxe was piled up so high, you could split it in half. Not anymore. This is the best Chicken Kitchen in all of Miami. I drive out of my way to go to this location. Best service, freshest ingredients, and the best sauces of all locations. I go here at least once a week. I even bring friends who visit Miami to chicken kitchen and they talk about the garlic cilantro sauce and curry mustard like it's the best thing since sliced bread. Chicken Kitchen makes decent food. The majority of the dishes are comprised of rice and chicken. They just change up the accompanying flavors and toppings for flare. They also offer salads, wraps, and pita pockets. The mustard-curry sauce is an original and incredibly tasty. My all time favorite is the small original chop-chop with mustard curry and barbecue sauce. Try it sometime! I do feel they have downsized their portions.
