Let me start by saying everyone I encountered here was pleasant. But the manager with the ugly box dyed red hair and about 100 pounds too big for her britches was absolutely a disaster. I've never been addressed or had a manager act the way this woman did. As a manger you have to hold yourself as an example for those working under you and I believe she very much should be demoted. The chain is a great chain (love the food), but this branch needs to either be shut down or restaffed from the ground up. I've never interacted with a more disgruntled group of employees... they ALL seem to be in perpetually bad moods no matter what day of the week you go. No matter what time of day. They don't just look crabby - they take out whatever internal frustrations they are having all day on the customers. I'm not the first to say that they were ridiculously rude to their customers. I was really not impressed with one of the employees at this Pollo tropical in the drive-through. My kids had just tested positive for strep, so we were all wearing masks and I didn't want to roll my window all the way down just to be cautious. The lady that took my order was really nice and then I got to the window to pay and I asked if she had to hold my phone because I didn't want to hold my phone for Apple Pay just in case I could get her sick. She freaked out ran to her manager said she wasn't gonna serve me and it was this whole ordeal, which made me feel like a leper. She also said, why are you even out of the house. Unfortunately I needed to get my kids food and I thought this would be a good option and I was left. Feeling really upset for no reason. you're welcome for wearing a mask. Where do I start? I've had multiple bad experiences with this particular store. I should've know better to try again but it was one of the only options at 1035 pm. I got in the drive thru line at 1035 pm with about 5-6 cars ahead of me. I didn't get to the order screen until 11pm exactly (they close at 11). At that point there were at least 5+ cars behind me. They lady comes across the speaker telling me "Hi welcome to Pollo Tropical we are closed sorry" so I replied to her that it was unacceptable to leave all these guests just waiting for no response this whole time. I told her that somebody should've come out to cut the line because cars continued to get in line. She responds by saying "there's no food left we can't serve you anything the food takes 45 minutes to prepare we cannot offer you anything, sorry." I am a chef by profession, bone in chicken doesn't take 45 minutes to prepare. Anyways, the Scheer fact that she spoke to me in that manner was shocking. I advised her that I too handled food for a living so I understand how preparing foods go. I proceeded to ask for the store managers name which she wouldn't give to me. This is unacceptable in hospitality. The leader of that shift should've stepped up & intervened in the drive thru. But the store collectively wasted 7 minutes between each car just so that they didn't have to serve us all. What kind of business does that? I'm sure the owner would be ashamed. The very you reason they have a job is to serve people. To attempt to control how many people you serve is not part of your job. I feel taken advantage of. I am disgusted with such food service employees. They have no business being in hospitality whatsoever. Take your lack of skills to a different job because people need to eat. All the reviews here are correct. They can't handle large crowds. Took 30 minutes to get my food. The tostones were not cooked correctly. I can't complain about the rice beans and chicken as they were good but not worth all the wait. And like some reviews said, the employees in the back were slow and talking about personal stuff. Pollo Topical, you have failed me for the last time. We went here to take advantage of a coupon, and this location looked pretty decent from the outside so I was hoping it was better than the last time I went to a Pollo. It wasn't. I ordered a couple of chicken platters, one with sierra mist and one with sweet tea. I paid and then wandered around the dining room looking for a clean table. When I say this, I am not exaggerating: Every single table in the dining room had food, sauce, or trash on the table itself or on the benches and chairs. Every damn one. They were not short staffed, nor were they too busy to clean the dining room; the staff just doesn't care. I eventually found a booth with just some food in the bench so I sat on the edge. I put my napkins and sauces down, then went to get my food. I was given my platters and one sierra mist and one cup full of ice and nothing else. I figured that the sweet tea dispenser was self-serve so I didn't think anything of it. I took everything back to the table to unload, then took the ice back to the front to look for the tea. There was no self serve iced tea, so I asked the staff for some. Their response: "We're out of sweet tea." Sorry, I had something retarded in my ear, could you repeat that? So instead of telling me when I picked up my food that you were out of tea and offering me something else, you figured giving me an empty cup of ice was the best alternative? The food was fair. If the dining room was clean and the staff weren't a bunch of lazy idiots, Pollo Tropical would be a great place. However, I'll say this: This is the fourth different Pollo I have been to, and only one of them has been acceptable. I kept trying different locations, assuming that I was just getting unlucky, but I've been to three different ones in the Orlando area and all have been dirty and filled with lousy, uncaring staff. I normally don't recommend fast food chains but PT is a favorite stop in central and south Florida. I wanted to write a more recent review as I notice There are a few old and negative reviews for this location. I've been here 3 times in the last 6 months. Every time it is busy, but tables clean. At busy meal times the drive through is slower than going inside and ordering to go. I've tried both the chicken avocado salad and the tropichop at this location and pleased with both. They have healthy salad and brown rice options. Of course the sauces are legendary- garlic cilantro, curry mustard and guava BBQ. It's what keeps me coming back. read more

The chain is great. This location SUCKS! It actually used to be really good and I was in at least once a week. Over the last few months there is always something wrong. Went in once and was told I had to wait 45 minutes while they cooked chicken! Umm isn't that the only thing you sell? And it's fast food? The last few trips the chicken was so dry and overcooked if you dropped it in a glass of water, there would be no water left in the glass. Thankfully the garlic sauce adds moisture. What can I say about Pollo Tropical... the food is good but this location is the worst. The location should seriously look into hiring a new manager and an entire staff. First the restaurant was filthy with no place to sit. After ordering are food around 7:00pm we did not receive our order until 7:20, please keep in mind all we order was one plate with a small drink. We looked around to find a place to sit and came across a table with a tray and a receipt on it. At first we thought that person just got up but then we realized that it remain unseated the entire time we waited for our order. We notice the receipt and saw that the receipt was time stamped at 5:57pm. That table has been unattended and dirty with trash for over an hour. We look around and start noticing that the restaurant has not been cleaned. So with that being said I don't think we will come back here. For the last five years I worked as a road warrior, AKA Traveling Salesman. I covered Florida from Orlando south to Homestead, and I learned that no matter where you are at the end of a long, hard day you can always get good food for a small price at Pollo. And as an added plus, the person taking your order usually speaks pretty good English. As road food goes, Pollo Tropical is hard to beat. Its tasty, cheap, and fairly healthy since the meat is cooked on a grill, and almost nothings fried. Order the 1/4 chicken value meal with black beans and rice, $3.99 for a leg quarter, $4.99 for breast and wing. [prices, of course, are subject to change.] Then walk over to the condiment bar and add as much fresh salsa and chopped onions as you like. And I LIKE tomatoes! They have a nice mustard curry sauce for the grilled chicken, but its already so tasty and moist it really needs no sauce. Math is not their strong suit. The cashier nor the manager could understand that adding a regular drink to my meal for $1.00 was cheaper than buying one outright for $1.89. What through them was that I also added a bottle of water which was regular price at $1.99. She charged me $1.20 for the water and $1.89 for my regular drink which equals $3.09. If they had charged me correctly, I should have only paid $2.99. Yes, I know it's only 10 cents, but if they do that to 100 customers, they make an extra $10. That's an extra $300 a month. Absolutely disgusting location. Iv never seen a dirtier bathroom in my life, walked in to wash my hands the whole floor was covered in water from the toilet. When I went to ask an employee if someone could clean it she completely ignored me and walked away. There was no ice in the machine and when we asked the employee if he could put ice he just looked at us and didn't say anything. The plates were dirty and so were tables.
