A little pricey for what they are. The burgers are not bad. Definitely on the greasy side. Reminds me of another burger chain but less pricey. I will say that their shake and fries are pretty good though but again - pricey. The shakes are a good consistency. Do have to eat it fast though or it will melt and the fries are skinny and crunchy and actually tastes like potato and not just airy potato. I will say that ever since they swap out the seed oils for beef tallow for frying the fries, the fries don't leave a greasy film around your mouth and fingers anymore and the fry tastes better and crispier. The service is not great but also not spectacular. Maybe it is the time I visited but customer service was not there. Maybe 2 out of 10 times I would get a friendly and helpful and kind customer service. All other times it's as if I'm being a bother when I'm the one that is paying! Again, it could be because it was very late. Never visited during the day, so can't tell you what day time customer service and dine-in ambiance is like. Overall, I think it's not a bad burger chain. Just a little pricey for the amount of food you're getting. But definitely try any of their deep fried items since it's fried in beef tallow now. read more

I was curious how highly rated this location was and I was shocked to see it's only two stars. Myself, wife and son have been coming here regularly for about four months, and I think it's great. My son gets a kids hamburger meal, comes with a drink. It's basically the same size as an adult meal, just a single patty. My wife and I each get a double cheeseburger with fries, a large drink to split and we all split a milkshake. Comes out to just north of 20 bucks. Food always tastes fresh, burgers are way better than anything you'd get at one of the fast food places. I've had zero issues. You also get 1$ credit for every 10$ you spend, so I'm constantly in a cycle of getting 2$ off each visit. Buy the 50$ steak and shake gift card across the street at Sam's for 37.50$ and you can get way more food than any other burger place for like 20$ max. read more

This place has the best smash burgers. I usually get the double steak burger that comes with cheese and bacon. The staff is usually very friendly and polite. If you like milkshakes, they also have a great creamy milkshake selection with different add-in options. I will say, I'm not a big fan of the french fries as they're very thin and not really how I prefer my fries to be, but the burger alone is something to return for--especially after a night out since they're open kind of late. read more

The fries got marginally better since they started using beef tallow, but overall two burgers, two drinks and two fries for 24 bucks . Best Steak 'n Shake experience to be honest. We were greeted right away with a smile & seated, no wait. Leana was the one who sat us & ended up being our server. She was on top of everything & everyone else as it seemed. She didn't write our order down but everything came out correct. Everytime I asked for something she brought it right out. Our service was great. I very seldom eat inside when eating at a Steak 'n Shake. Many have shut down but I'm glad this one is close to my house & has not. This was my first time coming to this location & I will be back simply because the service was so great! As far as the food, the burgers & fries weren't the hottest. First time good. This time not good.. I went to a different location and that burger was a solid 4. Good flavor, juicy and flavorful. Different location nothing like the first time. It was 4.5 miles from the "Drury Hotel " near universal. The burger was a double cheese. First off it had no salt or pepper on it at all. Second, I can't put my finger on it but something tasted "sweet" no relish ... it was a meat and cheese only proposition. Something was added to make it sweet and it was off putting and weird. Well, fool me once.. . I decided to give this location one last try, mainly because they were closest to where I was, and I was on a bit of a time crunch. I've come to the conclusion that they are unable to get an order correct, even if their job depended on it. What I received in my sealed bag was not at all what was on the receipt. Half my order wasn't even rang up, but I wouldn't have known at the point of order because they don't bother to verify the order prior to sending you to the pay window. It wasn't just me, either. The two cars ahead of me had issues as well. Maybe my childhood memories of servers on rollerskates skew my expectations. I just feel sorry for a company that has fallen so far. read more

I arrived at Steak 'n Shake and they were half full. We were told it would be about 10 minutes. However, we were sat right away. We placed our order and I ordered a guacomole burger, brownie sundae milkshake, and a water. We got our water first off, but did not receive a straw. We had just left the Orlando City game so we downed our water very quickly. It took a while but our food finally came. That was the point the server went off to refill our water (still no straw). I noticed the burger looked like the cajun double burger. When the server brought our water se saw me looking at it and said sorry and grabbed the plate and took it to the kitchen. I figured they were going to make me a new burger on the fly. The server brought us some onion rings for while we waited. They seemed as though they were ones that they were about to throw away so they just threw them back in the fryer. They were extremely oily. About 10 minutes later my burger was delivered again. My daughter had just finished her garlic burger. She said it was very good. I got the burger and it had green smudges on. It looked like pesto it was such small amounts. Instead of bringing me a ramekin of guacomole she took my burger back. I asked for a manager to come by. My daughter had received her shake the moment her food was finished. I was told they are still working on my shake. Now I got my guacomole burger and it just had two small pieces of avocado on it. At this point my fries were ice cold. About 15 minutes after my daughter got her milk shake, I received mine. The picture on the menu showed it with a great layer of chocolate sauce and a cherry. I received neither of these items. I think my shake was sitting for a while, as it was very thin. After I finished my shake I still did not have a manager come to my table. We went to the cashier and she was staring off. She never acknowledged us. Eventually she yelled to someone in the kitchen. A guy in a polo shirt came up and fixed her problems. I asked him why there was no manager available. He said he was the manager and so I shared with him the story. He started out very defensive, but after he saw the pictures he felt very bad and apologized. He said he was unaware that I was asking for a leader. In addition, he was down two servers for the day. His name was Josh and ended up taking care of our meal. Okay normally I love Steak and Shake but the last few times I have come here they have taken forever to take our order and get our food out. This visit was especially bad. Our server was April H and she was great. There were three other servers but they didn't do squat but talk with one another in the corner of the store while April did EVERYTHING ELSE. She took our orders and it literally took 50 minutes for our food to come out. And again he other servers were just meandering around not doing anything while she was farting around the place helping everyone else. Seeing the name "steak 'n shake" you would expect the milk shakes are AMAZING especially from seeing the photos, but no they don't taste all that great, McDonalds makes better milkshakes to be honest but maybe your tastebuds would be fine with their basic milkshakes. Just left this place. We placed our order in drive thru. The young man was really nice, but a lady in the background kept interfering and over talking him. She was very unprofessional. We ordered 4 cups of ice and she told us we could not order it unless we paid a $1. I said fine we will pay the $1. She was open faced giving an apology which means that she gave a sarcastic apology. When we got to the window to get our food we noticed that we didn't get one of our fries. She was constantly getting smart with my husband and I. I order was awful. My husband hotdog bun was burnt and the burgers were sloppy. We will not go back to this Steak 'n Shake. The young man that took our order should quit because if he's learning the business under her, he will never know what good ethics mean. Line took forever and the fries are pretty small. I'm glad they have variety to pick from as far as fries go; Cajun , parmesan, or regular steak fries. If I could give fewer stars I would. Came here late Monday night with my girlfriend and roommate, and we all got sick to varying degrees. I was lucky as I only had nausea the following day. My roommate woke us up around 3am vomiting and shitting. It was some of the worst throwing up and diarrhea I've ever heard in my life. Later the same night my girlfriend made a dash for the bathroom, also throwing up. My roommate found what looked like hair in his party melt and the staff quickly replaced it. I want to assume the best about people, and the service *seemed* good with what appeared to be a nice enough staff, quick service, etc, but it was hands down the steak n shake that made us all sick. I don't know if it was spoiled meat, or a dirty kitchen, or unsanitary staff, but something here REALLY messed us up. Drove up to see many employees outside smoking. Walked into a string grease smell. 2 tables and one person paying. We were standing for over five minutes without acknowledgement. I have no idea how this place is still in business. I love Steak n Shake so I hope someone from corporate reads this and does an intervention on this location. It had been a while since I had been in because last time the service was so bad. This time we never even got food. Got there at noon on Saturday. A waitress sat us and no one came over. We sat for almost 10 minutes watching more tables get sat and the ones that were there before us still sitting with only their menus. No tables were being greeted let alone served. I finally got up and asked the waitress if we would be out of there in an hour. She said no and did not seem to care at all, and so we left. Heed the other reviews here and avoid this place. I don't like giving bad reviews but will make an exception. We used the mobile app and placed our order. The drive thru lines are always long so this seemed efficient. When we got up to the drive thru window, after an unusually long time waiting for someone to come to the speaker (although they apologized for the wait), I told them "no problem we had placed an app order for pick up." She responded that they don't do app orders through the drive thru (although I've done it at other locations and clearly it says drive thru is an option on the receipt). With a few minutes left before the order was expected, we drove around and parked and went inside to the counter. The food order was ready when we got inside and handed to us. However, the five beverages were not provided. When we informed the staff they prepared 2 drinks and gave them to us and again expected us to depart. We again informed them the order was not complete. After 15-20 minutes inside - we had our drinks and departed. The staff was not friendly and seemed as though they didn't want to be there or they were having a bad day. One employee seemed eager to help but the process was slow and unprofessional regardless of his efforts. We got our cold burgers and Mac & cheese home only to find no fork to eat the Mac & cheese with, no napkins, no ketchup and smashed burgers and cold fries. The highlight was watching customers flagging down servers 15 minutes after they were seated by grabbing a server by grabbing them by the arm and asking if someone could take their order. Oh that is not the best...one man actually picked up the please wait to be seated sign and waived the entire sign post in the air, trying to get someone...anyone to come greet his party. Yes....actually dancing with the sign... After eating, it took over fifteen minutes wait to pay, with only one other person in front of us placing a to go order. The whole episode lasted almost two hours...at a fast food restaurant...a Wednesday afternoon at 2 PM. As we finally escaped the insanity...the man who had been dancing with the please seat me sign had been seated for about 20 minutes, but still had no food or drinks, the table of two, who grabbed a server and begged to order, had drinks but no food...about six servers were gathered behind the server station arguing about whose responsibility it was to clean all the dirty tables...between checking their cell phones... we escaped the madness....those other customers may still be waiting for their burgers and shakes... read more
