Recently had dental surgery and have been reduced to eating soft foods for awhile. The chicken soup is inconsistent, sometimes there's plenty of meat. Other times it's broth with veggies. I've opted to add my own ground turkey to make sure I'm getting protein. As of late, they've forgotten my family sized mashed potatoes (3 times). We stopped by for dinner to get their family meal. When we walked inside the place was pretty empty but clean we ordered at the register with no effort at all. The customer service was not very pleasant but we just paid and waited for our food to be ready. While we waited I went to use the restroom I noticed two wet floor signs on the outside of the bathroom but no water so kept walking to find inside the restroom the floors were covered in water and I guess the men's was like that as well. The first time I tried the food here, I loved the food! I got the tropichop bowl and the tres leches. They got my order right and it tasted delicious, so my expectations were raised. The next time I went, they missed my sauces, still it was good. The next time, they gave me onions instead of peppers, and there was a hair in my food. I was able to switch it out and it tasted fine. I still had high hopes, so I went again and not only did they miss my black beans but there was a pebble in my food. FOOD ALLERGY ALERT - Wesley Chapel FL location. Last 2 times I ordered something WITHOUT avocado and tomato. I bite into my meal and I find avocado and tomato. If I were allergic, this would put me into anaphylactic shock and potentially KILL ME. Every single time I go through the drive through, they leave something off of my order. I have learned my lesson, after getting my order, I will go through the bag. The last 2 times I had to go back in the restaurant to get what they left off. Be prepared for a wait in the drive thru. I can eat plantains everyday, and had to stop by while I was in the area (visiting the outlet mall). I normally get the sweet plantains, but I noticed they added topped tostones (green plantains) to the menu. They did not disappoint! Service is not good at this location. We stopped on our way back from the airport. Their indoor dining was closed, and all of us had never been to Pollo Tropical. We had to go through the drive thru. We were trying to look at their menu when we were rushed by the order taker, she wasn't pleasant and didn't give us any time with our order. There was four of us in the car. Half of us got food from here, my two brothers (with one brother driving the car) decided to go to taco bell down the road because they were frustrated with the order taker. The food was okay, the boyfriend had gotten chicken and I had gotten a Cuban sandwich, but it wasn't worth being rushed and treated the way we were. So- I like the food, but this location is dirty. Every other table is marked as not to use because of covid- and those tables are the only ones that were clean. I tried to wait to ask if someone could come clean our table but you can stand at the pickup counter and be completely ignored. My sister's order came out pretty quick- but my order took forever. I've never had heard of this chain as I'm not from around here. I didn't even think this was a chain until I looked it up on Google. It's a pretty interesting fast food concept and I'm a fan of it as we need more diversity in the fast food industry instead of it always being hamburgers. With that said, I'm not amazed by it as it is a fast food chain after all. It's the standard service you'd get at a typical McDonalds. The fountain drink area is messy as customers show no remorse of making a mess. I got a 1/2 Fire Grilled Chicken with white rice and black beans. I also got a side of Sweet Plantains. Food is really good and I'm a fan of the plantains although I was skeptical at first as they looked burnt from face value. The visit for lunch was just...fine. We love Pollo, and we were excited for lunch today. We got in, ordered quickly, and waited to get our food. They were reasonably busy for lunch, but not crazy. We watched as order after order picked up, and each person had to ask for their drinks they had already ordered. Our order was no exception. The young man behind the counter expediting seemed to roll his eyes each time someone asked him for something. Keep in mind the sauces that are one of the reasons we love Pollo, and they are behind the counter now, so you have to ask. We asked for the drinks and sauces. We got the eye roll, half speed response. My Tropichop bowl was really good but needs sauce and the small cups they give (when you ask) don't cut it. You need at least two if not three. The grilled chicken platter my partner ordered was fine but the chicken was so hard the plastic knife couldn't cut it. Eat it caveman style, he did.
