The worst meal I have ever had at Pollo (Wesley Chapel, FL location). Not sure what is going on at this store, but there seems to be issues. Chicken was dry and skin was not crisp. One piece was basically only half there. Rice was in clumps. Peppers and Onions were lackluster. The new Ropa Vieja was tasteless. The casher was unsure if they even had it although advertisements were all over the store. No guava bbq sauce available either - so I was told. This store is an hour drive for me - there are not any stores close to me. I will not go to this store again. I have recommended Pollo in the past, but will now make sure to tell them to never go to this store. read more

We were the Last people in drive thru line and asked for a meal with rice and beans. After a long wait we got chicken with 3 rolls of bread. Disappointing when you're going home from work and this is the only meal available. I ordered the bowl with yellow rice and veggies, shrimp, and three sides ( beans, corn, peppers) the shrimp was extra salty, the yellow rice taste was blah. This place is absolutely terrible, if I can give a lower rating I would. This is my second time being here and the same problem happens every single time. The first time I ever came here was right after my shift. And I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich without the ham and the person in the drive-through for some reason was very confused I explain to them that I was allergic to pork and then someone else appeared with a terrible disgusting attitude and said that OK we will give you your sandwich without the ham but then when I receive the sandwich it still came with ham. My family love the grill chicken and beef combo meals. The price is very reasonable. I love how lean the meats are and the seasoning is to perfection consistently. Customer service is good. The family meal we ordered, the chicken had obviously been seen sitting in a warmer for a long time before it was served to us; was dry. We also were missing a side, and were very disappointed that after calling at least six times and leaving a voice message to report the missing side item no one called us back before they closed for the evening. We did receive a call the second day after we ordered our meal, but when I returned the call; again, no one would respond. We understand things happen, all we wanted was a credit on our missing food; and report the dry chicken to see what they would do for us. No response; very disappointing! read more

The lady working chicken would pull one off the grill, chop it and check it to see if it's cooked all the while it drips and oozes blood on the same chopping board used when they come off the grill to be served. Brand new to the area! The two can dine for 9.99 coupon got me in the door. Parking is a nightmare right now but it should get somewhat better as development on the area is a work in progress & the restaurant next door is stealing this places spots. The lot was full but inside I found about 5 tables occupied. The cashier had some difficulty with our coupon but figured it out. We were given a number since we were dining it. We took the open booth that was not wiped down, I saw no attendant in the dining room even though it was slow then. Our food took about 8 minutes to be brought to us. I had the 1/4 chicken meal with yucca. The chicken was somewhat over cooked but edible. The yucca was good. My friend had the chicken bowl and other than her lettuce being somewhat wilted she enjoyed it. In summary I hope the restaurant improves with time knowing all staff is new. I also hope the parking situation gets better. I will try it again in the future as I have had much better experiences at other locations & usually the chicken is much better. read more

My experience at 5 p.m. on Sunday, 9/26 was literally the worst. Due to labor shortages, the dining in, curbside pick-up, and delivery is all halted - totally understandable. The only option is drive-through. However, despite this method as the sole route to purchase their food, the drive-through was abysmal. After a 20 minute wait to get to the ordering window, I was advised the computer was down, and no orders would be taken. I asked if this was temporary (i.e., rebooting the computer) or they were shutting down for the evening. In response, an irate manager told me he didn't know. I waited for a few minutes and then nicely asked for an update. The same manager advised they were still not taking orders. I asked if they would come outside and notify me and the 8 cars behind me if they would be shutting down for the evening. Instead of a response, he angrily huffed and asked me for my order (2 family meals - 2 chickens, 2 containers of rice and black beans, rolls). So...not a computer issue? I get to the payment window and computers are, indeed, up and running. I pay and get my food and am rushed off. I get home, and conspicuously missing are the 2 chickens - I was only given beans and rice. Listen, this place is called Pollo Tropical, not Rice & Beans Tropical. The chicken is sort of the key to this whole party. It is admittedly my fault for not checking the bag but I felt so badly that they were clearly not under optimal working conditions and were hustling me along. Getting in touch with someone about this only made the process worse. The local number puts you to a corporate headquarters phone line. Only on my third phone call of the evening was I able to even get through to someone. The customer rep expressed concern at the situation and advised me a refund would be processed. As of today, no refund. I guess I have to call three more times? Anyhow, I totally can sympathize with understaffing and the need to pivot their systems. But if the only avenue for ordering food is rude service, incomplete food orders, and an inability to get in touch with anyone ... it's more than understaffing that plagues their business. This is literally the worst food experience I've had in recent memory (and mama loves her take-out). read more

This was my worst experience at Pollo Tropical ever. I asked for a Tropichop with both beef and chicken. I paid for the extra meat. I get home and the chicken was dry and not even one piece of the beef. I tried calling the store and no answer. I tried calling customer service and the phone never stopped ringing. Ripping off your customers when they pay for extra isn't the appropriate way to run any business. Not being able to get a hold of anyone to fix the problem makes it much worse. Horrible experience. I grew up in Florida and have been to many pollo tropicales and this is by far the worst one I have ever been to and clearly nobody cares after all the bad reviews they continue to do the same things you read in the comments. Service was terrible as mentioned before the guy taking the order literally rolled his eyes in front of me when I asked what is in the quesadilla wrap. My husbands chicken was not cooked all the way as mentioned in the other comments. Food was the worst tasting I've ever had from the chain. Does anyone care? I highly doubt it. Just had Pollo Tropical delivered to my home via Grub Hub. The food was still fresh, hot and delicious. We ordered the chicken platter and pulled pork platter. The chicken was falling off the bone (yum) The beans and rice were good! My daughter had the pulled pork and the portion for a platter would easily feed 3 people.
