This place is fantastic! Kind of Out-of-the-way but once you get here, it's worth it. The food is fantastic! When you come here there's ample parking and there's a little horse outside which kids can sit on for photos. It's pretty cute. When you walk in is a huge amount of space you could easily fit 150 people in there and you could even have events in that kind of space. We have lovely views of the surrounding areas as well. When you get seated and that's pretty much immediately, our waitress will come over with these cute maple table mats and waters. The waitresses you're also have to be the cooks, so they make really great recommendations when it comes to choosing your pancakes. Do listen to them and take what they recommend. We tried the corn beef hash which was outstanding the pancakes were really really good and I highly recommend the hot chocolate it was one of the best hot chocolate I've had! Service can be a little slow depending on number of people in the restaurant and the fact that the waitress was also the cooks. So she's technically making food for three or four tables at one time. There's also a little sale section in the front where you can buy memorabilia as well as great maple syrup that they make. I wish I could give them a 10 star review! The service and food were the absolute best - everything you could want from a small town diner! Both days our waiter and waitress were always. We timed it just right - getting there before 8:30am - and there was no wait. When we were leaving the people waiting were lined up out the door. We came 2 out of 3 mornings during our trip - would've been 3 days if we didn't have to drive 40 minutes out of the way for our drive home! The first morning I had the big breakfast with fried eggs, toast, home fries and bacon. My son had the waffle with whipped cream, fruit and ice cream and my sister had the blueberry pancakes meal. Everything was delicious and cooked perfect. They even make their own breads and their is a good variety to choose from. We heard about Polly's from some older locals in N. Conway. It was a one hour 20 minute ride to the north from our condo in Ashland but it was worth it. The scenery up rt. 93 was beautiful. Polly's wasn't very busy but I could see why it is a popular destination. Homemade items covered the menu like the covered bridges in the area. I had the Katie special. Two eggs, three small pancakes, wheat, oatmeal and cornbread, homefries, a side of baked beans and toast. Everything homemade! It was delicious and is recommended. Can't complain at all even after waiting an hour to get seated. There are some nice benches to wait sprinkled around the property. We went high time (it seems) given they didn't accept call-aheads between Sep 28-Oct 10 (we happened to go on Sep 28). Makes complete sense but I'm guessing your experience will be even easier if you go a different time of year. The food was delicious and our server was beyond nice. Service was quick. I loved the Plain pancake more than anything honestly, the bacon was cooked perfectly and high quality, and the toast was scrumptious. Food was delicious. 5 star worthy! However both days we stopped by their wait was 2 hours long. They have no waiting area and their buzzers do not reach all of the parking lot. We decided to walk away the first time and we waited the 2nd. The portion is actually not the usual super large size of your typical American diner, but each dish is perfect for one person. Excellent little stop when leaving Lincoln and going to Stowe. We got there at 10am and had a 20 min wait. But others then had 30 mins soon after. By the time we left it was 75 mins wait. So plan to wait if you go. Maybe walk around the area a little. It's pretty area. We all got pancake sampler. They were good but not the best I've ever had. We recently stayed in the area and saw the amazing reviews for Polly's. We decided to go on a rainy Saturday and luckily we had the forethought to call ahead. Polly's happily took a phone reservation which helped us to avoid the 1+ hour wait (apparently whenever it rains it gets extremely crowded here). The Parlor is located on top of a small hill. Inside there's a family friendly atmosphere and a huge menu full of pancakes, waffles, eggs, sandwiches on pancake buns, and all the other breakfast classics. This is the place you go while lupin hunting but we came during the summer on the way to Vermont. It stands right outside town amongst farms and fields. There's plenty of parking and a modest shop up front. Seating was aplenty in the afternoon around 12 and quicker at the bar. Walking past the kitchen you see the pancake mixes being plopped down onto the griddle. We sat at the bar in front of the fancy breakfast drinks bar where they whipped up lattes and hot chocolate. The menu isn't terribly extensive and hosts a nice array of breakfast staples abut pays most valuable real estate to the pancakes. We both ordered three pancakes and I got a pancake flight -- three pancakes with batter and toppings of your choice. Cornmeal, buckwheat, wheat flour were all options I opted for -- all their flour except the white flour is stone ground. Every meal comes with a maple tray -- maple syrup, maple cream fixings for everyone to share. The servers make the pancakes for their patrons, which was a nice surprise -- so every server must be able to make pancakes. Trippy! The pancakes are about 4 inches in diameter and they are so darn fluffy! I loved getting to try different batters and the eggs were supremely fluffy. I can't recommend Polly's enough. A rustic classic that's been around since 1938. Large space. Open kitchen. Friendly hosts. There's a gift shop, but don't let that scare you off (after your meal, you'll realize it's a plus). Friendly servers. The "Maple Tray": Real maple syrup, maple sugar (shaker), and a maple spread (squeeze bottle) that our server said was basically a maple frosting, and she was right. All are nice additions, depending on preference and what you're adding it to. Having maple syrup by default and at no extra charge was a big win. Plus it was very good. The Pancake Options: The bad news is that the pancakes are only 3-1/4 inches diameter. The good news is that the pancakes are only 3-1/4 inches diameter. Why? Because it allows less commitment so you can try more other things or even more pancakes in different flavors. Another big plus toward that end is the ability to mix and match with the sampler: pick any 3 combinations of batter and filling (I got a cornmeal pancake with blueberries, a buckwheat pancake with chocolate chips, and a gingerbread pancake with no filling). The Pancakes: Good to very good. Not too dense, not too light, and none of that baseball glove texture too many other pancake house pancakes have. Very nice flavor to the batter in all the varieties I tried, with no chemical aftertaste. I particularly liked the cornmeal batter: extra soft and crumbly in the right way. The gingerbread were not sickening sweet. All took the syrup nicely without absorbing it in a flash. Scrambled Eggs: Hard to screw up, you say? I've had plenty elsewhere that were, but these were perfect. Not too wet, not too (or anywhere near) dry, and not too (or anywhere near) brown. Fluffy and moist. Home Fries: The only disappointment, though mostly stylistic. These were thick full potato slices, not cubes, and had more of a baked feel even though I think they were fried. Little to no seasoning (I like seasoning). We went with the onions option for an extra 50 cents, and they were sautéed but not crisply (I like crispy). Maple Bacon Biscuits: A special of the day was dense (maybe a tad too dense, but some are supposed to be that way. Like a pineapple upside down cake, it had a thick sweet maple glaze on the bottom, along with crispy bacon pieces. Tasty for sure, although I'd rather have another pancake or three. Service: Outstanding. It's as if everyone walked straight out of a training video, full of good cheer and menu knowledge. Interesting tidbit: the same server who takes your order also cooks your pancakes. Look through the Yelp reviews and you'll see plenty of hype (I mean intense praise, not shilling), so I was fearing a letdown of Rapunzel proportions. Didn't happen.
