I remembered this chain from the 80's when I lived in Buena Park. I was scared they were not the same but to my delight, it was all delicious. And the service was great too. My husband had tomato basil soup and I had split pea soup which both were so delicious we wished we had made that our main course. I had grilled ham and cheese sandwich and hubby had but. These also were delicious, good quality ham and homemade fresh bread, couldn't get better. My husband had custard Pie and I had hot apple Pie with caramel a la mode which were outstanding. The place was packed from head to toe. The waitresses were much sweeter than the mid shift ones. Ours was so busy, yet she was calm cool and collective and on top of it. She was amazing... I did not get her name she had blond hair in a pony tail, late 20's early 30's. Pollie's Pies is one of my favorite restaurants to dine at. My husband and I went to brunch today. The waitress asked what we would like to drink and I said a sunrise mimosa. I handed my ID to her and she started integrated me by asking my birthday and to take my facemask off. She was very rude from the beginning. The food took a long time to get to our table and she didn't bother asking how everything was. We felt rushed I'll be sure not to get her again. read more

For being way out in Hemet, this location does a great job in a difficult place. They are pretty busy a lot of the time, my guess is that there is a high percentage of seniors nearby because we see a lot of older people when we stop in. Doesn't matter, just an observation. The wait staff has always been attentive and professional each time we've been here. Even when they are super busy we get seated right away and the food doesn't take long, we really like this location for the times we've been in the area. I highly recommend Polly's Pies. I don't think I have ever had a bad experience here. My main reason for posting this review is because of the excellent customer service we always receive when Gloria is working. The last two times I have gone, we have been lucky enough to be greeted by her with a warm welcome and a smile. Everyone there has great customer service, but I truly do feel like Gloria goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is taken care of and enjoying themselves. If there was a way to give her a raise or some sort of praise and reward, I hope she is able to receive it! She deserves it and so much more! I was a regular customer but Sara and the only African American server like to talk bad about customers, they didn't know that my daughter was there and heard the whole conversation and the expressions like ... oh my god!!!! We don't feel welcome here anymore I know I have 4 kids two of them are autistic and they can be out of control sometimes but this is not right!!!! If I had reviewed this place the first time I came here, I would honestly have given them four stars because of how great their food and service is. The only reason why I would have knocked down a star is because the wait time to get seated and to actually be served food is a bit too lengthy, but that is granted because of how busy they get. However, that being said, I walked in with my boyfriend yesterday and we were very pleased with how our service was. I ordered the chicken fried steak with eggs while my boyfriend had the chicken and waffles. We then ordered a tri-tip wedge salad without the eggs to go, and by the time that reached our table it was already wrapped. Since I was in a bit of a rush, I failed to check to make sure that the salad didn't have eggs in it because that is what my mom specifically requested. But, since I already had great service thus far into the meal, I didn't really think about checking to make sure it was correct. As we made our way to the counter to pay for the meals, I also ordered a strawberry pie to go. While I was paying for the food though, which came out to $70 for everything, my boyfriend saw one of the workers in the back of the kitchen wipe his bare hand on the counter to get crumbs off and used that same bare hand right afterwards to place a sandwich on a plate. If that was disturbing enough, a female employee was stuffing her mouth with fries that she was about to send out to the customers. Disgusted, my boyfriend and I left immediately right after paying. Once we got back home after a 10-15 minute drive, my mom was disappointed when she found the egg in her food. Not only that, but that's when I started to get sick. I had diarrhea since the moment I got home up until the moment I am writing this review. My boyfriend was feeling sick too, but I had the worst of it. So, I called to get a refund today this morning, and the manager kept telling me how this all sounded like a coincidence and did not believe my story. He also had the audacity to argue with me over the phone and in person about how foodborne illness works. I KNOW how foodborne illness works because I've worked in the food industry for a good three years already, and I know that it CAN hit a person's body within a few hours of that same day. Another fact that I know from the food handler's card exam is that children and elders are more susceptible to foodborne illness than any other ages because of how fragile their immune systems are. Therefore, imagine the sickness that I got in a child or an elder; it could potentially have a worse effect of them. Ultimately, I will NEVER come here again. Not worth the long wait times, expensive prices, and ridiculous excuses. read more

I've been to the Polly's Pies in Fullerton a few years ago and I don't remember having a bad experience there. With that said, I thought we were going to have a decent time at Hemet's Polly's Pies. Overall, the food was just okay. I got fish and chips, while my boyfriend got the chicken pie dinner. The taste was what you'd expect from each dish... nothing "wow!" but it wasn't gross at least. What was a huge turn-off about the place was our waiter. We waited a while for our food to arrive. We didn't think much of it because it was quite busy that night, so it was totally fine. The food eventually came... and after a few bites of the food, she came back and asked us how we're doing. We said we're doing good, and she apologized for the long wait... then admitted that the food was ready a long time ago and that it had been sitting on a counter for quite some time. Thanks... for letting us know? She proceeded to tell my boyfriend that his food should be ok, but that she is more worried about mine because it was fish. That's not something we needed to know.... you just don't tell guests that. It was nice of her to offer us free slices of pie in the end, but it still didn't really change our thoughts of what had happened prior to that. The selection and choices were hard to decide on because there were so many tempting choices. A lot of great comfort foods. Prices very reasonably with some good choices where you get a slice of their yummy pie for a dollar more. The chicken pot pie, Polly hamburger, and the chicken salad sandwich were all great. I used to like this place put it has gone through many changes recently that I don't think I'll go back. The menu is not very good and the does not taste the same. The old lady host in the front is always rude and has attitude about taking names. The lady in the bakery also needs to maybe consider a new job. When asking about cookies marked "peanut butter" (but had chocolate chips in them) we simply asked her what the cookies were because they didn't look like peanut butter. She rudely responded that "all the cookies are marked with labels", so my sweet mom asked if the cookies were peanut butter because they have chocolate chips. The lady preceded to rudely educate us on the fact that she can't label them "peanut butter chocolate chip because people get confused". Okay sooooo, they labels ARE NOT correct but the costumer should just know. Duh! It's just real rude costumer service and my money will be going to another business. Had a great breakfast and the prices and the food are really good. Waitress was attentive. It was a weekday so got in on the early bird pricing. Breakfast came with a bakery side so I actually got one of the huge cinnamon rolls to go. Not on my eating program but glad I got the chance to take it and taste it and share later. Food was decent but small portion sizes for the price. Our hamburger came with a whopping 8 tater tots and the pot pie, while good, was small with one large spoonful of mashed potatoes on the side. The food came out in a very strange order. We got a piece of cornbread first, followed by the entrees 15 minutes later, and the appetizer 15 minutes after that (and the appetizer wasn't even what we ordered). The waitress apologized for the appetizer being so late and gave us a free slice of pie, but I think the appetizer should have been taken off the bill. We would have just cancelled it but she never stayed long at the table to talk to her, she would just rush by and say a few words as she passed. We probably won't be back as there are other restaurants in town with similar menus and better value/service. read more

I love the chicken fried steak here, definitely one of my favorites. Just recently tried the breakfast burger, outstanding! This burger was by far something special, it was served on some delicious grilled sourdough bread, fresh beef patty, cheddar cheese, big pieces of crispy bacon, an onion ring, and most importantly a fried egg cooked over medium. My elderly aunt was looking for custard pies and we live in Wildomar - the closest Polly's was in Hemet. I called and they had two pies. I asked if they could hold both and the gentleman said he could only hold one. I told him it was for my aunt then he said ok...he gave me an hour. We made it with time to spare. This place is Mecca for the geriatrics's in Hemet. I mean literally every single table has a walker or a wheelchair at it. The clientele are so old they are farting dust bunnies. Because of this, the folks who frequent here are on fixed incomes and therefore tend to be a little light on the tipping. Herein lies the problem: the servers know that they are not going to be taken care of, so they fail to take care of the customer. And around and around it goes like the vortex in a toilet bowl. The food is production at best. I tried to keep things simple with a plain turkey sandwich, and it had apparently been resting in the pass for quite a while because the bread was completely stale.
