It's not what it used to be. I have been a customer for the past decade, and I'm really sorry to say the atmosphere these past couple years has taken a turn for the worse. Change can be good, and the food is mostly the same, but it feels like the place has lost its heart. I remember a much more inviting, family-friendly Polpettina. You'd see the same servers (who were always personable and caring) working there for years at a time. The ambience was fun and inviting, and I brought many friends here over the years to share that same experience. I think there must've been an ownership change. I've gone less since then but keep coming back occasionally to give them a chance (and like I said, the pizza is good and is the only thing that hasn't changed.) These days, the place is cramped, not nearly as clean and organized as it used to be, and it no longer feels like the welcoming environment it once was. Not every restaurant has to be that, I know; but for this place to go from being a staple of the surrounding communities to becoming an uncomfortable, unfriendly establishment is really disappointing. Food wasn't horrible, but wasn't great either. They add a 20% gratuity to the bill, even for a party of 2 or 3. Our server was great and I actually would have left more if they hadn't forced the 20%. The amount of the gratuity should be left to the customer based upon quality of service, especially when it's not a large group. They also force you to "ask for a 3% discount" for paying cash. So they're really forcing everyone to pay the credit card fee and hoping those that pay cash don't notice, which is sleazy. read more

Sorry Polpettina, you lost a very good customer. One that was with you during Covid we ordered a simple meal tonight. We had to pay three dollars for a piece of bread and we asked for oil. Maybe they gave us an extra 1 ounce of oil and then we got charged that special tax that nobody can explain since when did this happen very disappointed the vegetables were subpar drenched in oil. Came here for lunch. While I waited for my friend to arrive I ordered the cauliflower as I like zatar. It was mushier than I expected but flavor was good. I prefer a crunchy cauliflower. For our main we went with the speck pie paired with white wines. We were told the smaller size was more of a personal pie so we went with the larger size. Pizza was good but very filling so we could only finish half of the pie. For dessert we went with the affogato but had to wait 20 min for the ice cream. They make it in house. It was worth the wait. So happy to come here after they reopened! My aunt and uncle were sweet and took me here to celebrate my (belated) birthday. Of course we had to start with the eggplant chips and the meatballs. He ordered eggplant parm for his entree, she had the chicken (ironclad?) and I had to try the cacio e pepe. Everything was delicious! Very good local Italian restaurant. Only been a couple of times, but impressed with the quality of the food. Tried one of the pizzas and it was solid. Went a 2nd time for lunch and tried a few dishes to share (pork belly, brussels sprout, oysters). Everything was good. The service was very friendly. Best brunch place. I frequented Polpettina (both Larchmont and Eastchester locations) while I lived in Westchester, and returned today for brunch with friends. The experience was top-notch as expected. To start, we ordered eggplant chips, naked dough and garlic knot focaccia. The eggplant chips are sliced thin and deep fried (NOT greasy) with honey drizzled and salt sprinkled over top. These are hands-down the best eggplant chips I've ever had. The naked dough dish is essentially a "bread balloon" that comes fresh out of the oven on a wire tray. Each guest can pull apart pieces and dip it into a ricotta dip. Lastly, the garlic knot bread is served like a round loaf, seasoned with crunchy "everything" flakes and a gooey cheese pull. We ordered several cocktails, I.e. French 75 (gin drink), sour cherry Bellinis, Aperol spritz and espresso martinis. Each guest was happy with their choice. For our "entree" we continued with the carbo-load trend and got pizza! We shared the vodka, pepperoni and caciocavallo. The caciocavallo left something to be desired, and that's what I was most excited for. It's a pie with prosciutto, peach jam, burrata, salted pistachio and basil. I personally feel the burrata shouldn't have been melted, rather served in big milky (cold) balls over the peach jam. I requested a side of balsamic to supplement the salty flavor of the cheese and pistachio. I think extra peach or balsamic glaze could have elevated this more. The ambience in the restaurant is perfect, with a "head nod" to New York icons, including a Yankees jersey hanging on the bathroom wall and black and white pictures of subway scenes. Of note, the playlist was perfect including hits from Two Door Cinema Club and Young the Giant. I highly suggest Polpettina if you're in the Westchester area! read more

I tried to eat 2 slices of pepperoni. Oh it was crisp alright, just like cardboard. It did taste better than cardboard but not to far off. Could not eat the crust. It was impossible to eat. We used to love this place- we would come in weekly for years- their service has been on a slow decline but today was the worst. 4:30 pm- completely empty - Was told my young daughter and I couldn't sit at a window table because we were only 2 people, then 20 min later they occupy that table with just 2 people. This is purely a takeout review. The person who took my order was extremely nice on the phone and let me know my order would take a while (about 45 minutes) since I ordered a grandma pie and those take longer to make. Upon arriving the place inside was packed and there were people waiting for tables, I grabbed both my pies and was in for a delightful experience. The Neapolitan Pie was absolutely incredible. I could eat it everyday. The Grandma pizza was really good too. I can see why it was packed inside. Would definitely return to try more things. read more

Came here for lunch and was impressed by how lovely the interior is. The copper ceiling is absolutely beautiful! The hostess and our waitress were lovely and very welcoming. I was with a friend and we hadn't seen each other in a very long time and the waitress was very understanding and gave us plenty of time to chat before we finally looked at the menu. There was no parking lot, only street parking, but it was easy to find a spot. While waiting my husband and I had a drink at the bar and the bartender was really nice and made excellent cocktails. After my group arrived we got the calamari, truffle fries and eggplant chips as a starter. The eggplant chips were absolutely amazing, I seriously couldn't stop eating them. As an entree we decided to split three different pizzas and some pasta. For the pasta I had them do penne in a vodka sauce Bolognese style and it was outstanding. For Pizza, we wound up ordering the vodka pie, the bolognese pie and the truffle pie. The pies were delicious but I thought they were a little overpriced in my opinion. I only came here because it was an hour wait at Burrata. I hadn't been since they remodeled. The food was excellent. The honey butter lettuce was as if just picked, the artichoke hearts were garlicky and in a pool of tasty white wine sauce, and the clams with orzo were done just right (slightly chewy but tender). The whole chicken scaparielllo (with sausage potatoes and onions) can feed an entire family, and was also cooked to a tenderness that falls off the bone. This is a cute, small Italian restaurant that is nice local go-to. You will need to find street parking, which can be tight. We usually go with a smaller group since they don't take reservations. We went with a group of 7 and were lucky to come in right as a larger table was clearing out so we got seated right away. The eggplant chips, naked dough, and calamari were great appetizers to share - we got two of each for the table. The mussels were fantastic - very fresh and the sauce had the right amount of spice. He wasn't receptive when he came to the table unmasked when we voiced our concerns. He was actually making excuses. In short, a bit underwhelming I walked in with a few friends for dinner on a Friday night. It was jam packed with people, so that was a good sign. I came here before the renovation and was excited to get the new place out. The look is very modern and dare I say "trendy", but definitely very welcoming and more of an Italian restaurant than a pizzeria. Firstly, the staff is incredibly friendly. Our waiter was super nice and made us feel welcome. We ended up ordering a pizza, a Caesar salad, a few drinks and the ribeye special. The total came out to $240 with tip. The salad came out first and was actually quite nice. Not overly dressed and was definitely a good appetizer. Next came both the pizza and then the steak special immediately followed. The pizza tasted good, but was definitely reheated. I know it's hard to make a pie fresh especially when there are loads of people, so I understand. Finally I tried the steak special. If I'm being honest. It was good, but not mind blowing. A bit tough, but a large 25 oz portion. I will say that the sweet potato mash that came as a side with the steak was phenomenal; definitely the highlight of the meal. There is honestly one issue I have and that's the 2.4% "kitchen pay" surcharge. Once again I find an establishment that sneaks that into their bill. I tip staff extra because I've been in the service industry and tips are necessary, but I can't understand these convenient fees thrown in by businesses which supposedly have nothing to do with tips. I still tipped way above the normal 15% because I respect staff, but unfortunately I can't see myself coming back as I don't appreciate small attempts to nickel and dime patrons under the guise of "kitchen staff".
