Soft, fresh mochi filled with crunchy peanut butter. Yum! I remember when they were on Waikamilo Road in Kalihi. If you didn't know, like me. They've relocated to the McCully area. Where mochi is continued to be made fresh and a window to see the making of it. The bright and colorful painted wall caught my attention. Great for taking selfies or pictures your purchases. There's three benches outside decorated with stickers that's available for purchase. Too cute! Fujiya Hawaii offers much more than delicious mochi. Such as iced cold drinks, locally made snacks, mochi leis, T-Shirts and the cutest stickers, to name a few things available for purchase. I asked a few questions and the pleasant lady that answered my questions was very helpful and offered me samples of the different flavors of Senbei & Japanese Okoshi- crispy puffed brown rice with macadamia nuts. That was really yummy! I had to add a bag to my order. By Supporting a locally and family owned business, that's been in business since in 1953. There was one employee working at the register and another in the back. The service was attentive and efficient although there was only one person on the floor. They carry a great assortment of mochi and manju, including some varieties that need to be refrigerated. In addition, they offer local favorites like li-hing gummy bears and assorted flavored sembei, giving you plenty of sweet and savory options to choose from. The employee at the register was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, happily sharing information about the different mochi flavors and offerings. Most importantly, the mochi here is absolutely delicious. During this visit, we ordered a Girls' Day pack and tried the chocolate ganache Oreo flavor which was amazing. The mochi was perfectly soft and paired beautifully with the rich chocolate ganache filling. My friend loved it so much that she went back the very next day to order more! If you love mochi, you really need to stop by. I highly recommended this shop.

I always come here "just to look," but end up with a gigantic, branded reusable bag filled to the brim with imported Asian snacks. Many Chinese products, but also Korean, Japanese, Thai, etc. Snacks range from exotic chip flavors to candies and sodas. Further back you'll find more substantial instant noodle meals. The Chinese ones are actually great and are way more complex ingredients-wise than your standard instant noodle. Also in the back are Chinese cooking ingredients such as sauces and dry goods, but my favorite is the super thick, wide glass noodles that I use for hot pot. There's also a small section with Asian toiletry products that I've personally never tried. I must say it feels like there is less variety of items since they moved locations. Some snacks are repeated in different spots on the shelves to make it look like there's more variety. My favorite latiao that I used to get at their old location is no longer available. :( I'll keep coming back regularly because they're always getting new items in stock.

The back of the store now has lights on. You can see in the back of the store. You no longer need to be apprehensive about venturing in the back of the previously unlit store. There is air conditioning, however, it doesn't seem to work well. I was in here for ten minutes and perspiring due to humidity and heat. I asked the one employee if she was uncomfortable in working in this heat. She replied that they are required to keep the front door open to let customers know it's open, so much of the cooled air escapes. It is crazy warm inside. Service is good. The one employee must stock, look out for customers and ring up sales. There is a half off table that I didn't observe in the past. Some of the drinks in the refrigerated section appear ready to burst. Overall, plus one star for labeling and price tags. I picked up a few sugar free and low calorie drinks to try here.

It took off so well that in 2000, he founded Hawaiian Chip Company in Kalihi. Today, Hawaiian Chip Company uses only the highest quality Okinawan sweet potatoes and taro grown on the Big Island and Oahu's North Shore and golden sweet potatoes grown on Molokai to make their gourmet chips. This assures only the freshest and highest quality chips that they can produce. They also use canola oil (trans-fat free) and minimal amounts of sodium, and are preservative-free. The Hawaiian Chip Co.'s has expanded its product line over the years and offers the following: * Taro and sweet potato chips mix. Combine earthly richness of taro with the subtle sweetness of Okinawan and golden sweet potatoes of five flavors of hand-peeled, thinly sliced chips that are lightly seasoned: original (lightly salted), zesty garlic, Kiawe BBQ, Kiawe Fire, and sugar coated. * BBQ and hot sauces. The Kilauea Fire BBQ sauce was introduced in 2008, which has a spicy kick and great as a marinade for beef, chicken, pork; can be used as a dipping sauce. The Kilauea Fire Hot Sauce is spicier and less sweet than the Kilauea Fire BBQ Sauce. This led to the Raging Volcano Hot Sauce, which is a vinegar-based hot sauce and the spiciest hot sauce that they make. They also offer a Papaya Seed Salad Dressing. * Collaboration with Eden in Love in offering colorful logo tote bags. * Menehune Mac Hawaiian chocolates. The Honolulu Chip Co. acquired this line in 2021, a hand-scooped dessert of rich chocolates and HI-grown mac nuts favored by locals and visitors since 1939, is being presently 888qdiscontinued. As labor is intensive for the candies to be hand-scooped, there is difficulty in finding quality workers, and it was simply not feasible to continue I was first introduced to the taro and sweet potato chip mix that was sold in Costco, as most people do. You can get this exact item at a lower price in their showroom, plus it may be fresher. For home snacking, I love their Bits of Chips, a mixture of whole chips and broken pieces that are sold at a discounted price. They are not always available, as it depends on when the chips are available and made. It is suggested to call the store to inquire if there are any available. Once we were taking our Pastor friend and his wife from Japan around the island, and they wanted to stop there to purchase a bag of Bits of Chips and hand-carried it back to Japan! Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Samples are freely given out as you enter the showroom, and you can take it out back and try the different toppings. Service is efficient and quick. The building houses its small showroom retail store and is their factory where the chips are cut and fried. Hours of operation are Mon to Fri 9a to 5p, Sat 9a to 3p, Sun closed. Lots of free parking in their private lot. Cross the street and visit their sister showroom, 'Ulu Chip Factory, where you can find seasonal breadfruit chips combined with cassava chips, as well as the the Keith's cookies line. Trump's tariff implementation has raised prices twice in 2025 with increased packaging costs due to supplies coming from China. But when you have that craving for these delicious chips and sauces, price may not matter. These chips and sauces will always be there for all to enjoy! Support local!

The bigger the malasadas size the more airy and fluffy and more bread layers that will be inside. 2. their malasadas always taste fresh and the same quality each time. 3. their malasadas don't feel oily or heavy at all Overall I would highly recommend this place for their Malasadas! I'm so happy to have found them. I can back multiple times on my trip. They also have other desserts too that I have yet to try. However, there are many alternative malasada purveyors throughout Honolulu, so I depended on local vloggers to find the best ones. This one popped up often on YouTube, and as luck would have it, we were dining at The Pig & The Lady on the next block. How calorifically convenient. We took the opportunity to stop by for a pre-dinner snack since they closed at 6PM. It's a cute shop with multiple sweets including quite a selection of housemade ice cream and delectable mouthfuls called Cake Bombs (Photo 10). We decided we would be good and ordered one unfilled Malasada each. Dusted with various sugar flavors, they were just $2.65 a piece. I went for the Coffee, while Jamie chose the daily special, Cinnamon (Photo 6). They were soft and tasty, quite comparable to Leonard's albeit a tad smaller. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing since we had dinner ahead of us. However, we let temptation get the best of us and shared a $5.50 slice of the Ube Haupia Mac Nut Bar, a yummy combination of sweet potato and ube topped with haupia (coconut milk pudding) on a macadamia nut crust (Photo 9). Truth be told, it stole the show from the malasadas. FOOD - 4 stars... the malasadas were good, but that ube dessert was next level AMBIANCE - 4 stars...really a takeout operation with a lot of temptations SERVICE - 4 stars...very calm and orderly TOTAL - 4 stars...yet another spot for sweet Hawaiian decadence RELATED - Exploring Hawaii? I did not get to try anything from the hot bar but my parents and sister for the most part really liked what they got. The hot and cold bar is priced by weight. The rotisserie chicken is pretty dry in my opinion. For the price, (about $7 to $8 I believe), it was a disappointment compared to Costco. The poke bar was definitely the biggest hit.
