Before we headed out to Akaka Falls Lookout, we went to Pomaika'i Cafe to eat. I looked at the menu and two words caught my eye... I saw the words Wagyu Burger and that's it. I knew what I was going to order... haha. I ordered the 8 oz. Wagyu Burger American Kobe Beef... Mmmm yummy. :) We all waited outside and sat at the back table. After the long wait, we took our food and drove to Akaka Falls Lookout. As we were heading there, I didn't want to eat my burger while we were driving so I waited til we arrived. When we reached our destination and parked, I ate the Wagyu Burger. Mmmm... so goood! The burger was juicy, it was filled with condiments that overflowed to the side onto the plate, and it tasted great! I was satisfied and ready to walk through the Akaka Falls Lookout! read more

Such a cute cafe, we loved eating and drinking our coffee out in the garden! The food, drinks, service and ambiance were amazing!

I came here for lunch after hiking at Pololu Valley Lookout. There was a good amount of outdoor seating available. Everything on their menu sounded delicious, but we ended up ordering the very veggie sandwich and vegetarian stuffed ciabatta. I really liked the very veggie sandwich - the ingredients were super fresh, and the pesto added a nice touch to it. I also enjoyed the bread because it wasn't the super grainy and dry type you get when ordering wheat bread. The vegetarian ciabatta was good too - not as much of a fan of the olive spread as pesto, though. The bread was great, and I loved the generous amount of cheese. The workers were super friendly, and the food was delicious. read more

Stopped here for breakfast and some coffee before starting are all day trek around the island. The food was great! We got the bagel breakfast sandwich and the croissant breakfast sandwich and both were delicious, but the real winner was the cinnamon roll that was almost as big as the plate they served it on. Not this place; it's affordable for a great portion. The melon drink was also very refreshing. Again very affordable and not like how other places overcharge. Me and two friends stopped in here and ordered a club sandwich, two turkey pepper paninis and a coffee. 42$ later we received the coffee and club sandwich which was fine but the 'paninis' we got were terrible. 1/10 rating. This Turkey Pepper panini is 12$. It wasn't a panini. It was cheap ciabatta that wasn't even toasted or flat like what defines a panini. Bread was stale, swamped in this watery red bell pepper sauce/liquid that completely drowned the sandwich like they were both dropped in puddles. It was so messy that we tossed the bread in the trash and ate what was left. Provolone and turkey was completely drowned out by this careless sandwich. The person working had no customer service, no smile, no aloha. Had vibes like we were burdening him coming in. Look, I'm from Big Island. Grew up in South Kona up Koa Road. I have worked years in food business in Hawaii and mainland. I understand it's expensive to maintain a storefront but this sandwich was a major rip off and I wish I just ate LNL across the street. Worth the drive! The wagyu burger is to die for. They perfectly cook it and put it together. My wife had the salmon salad, also perfect, and tasty grilled cheese sandwich, grilled exactly right. We are still talking about it days later after just finishing the coconut macaroon we took to go. Feeling a little slow? Ask for "Bobbie's ice latte." That'll get your engine running. read more
