Poke bowl with Korean Ahi and small container of another type of poke
    Ivy C.

I came here to pick up lunch after zip-lining nearby. Our guide recommended this place as I was craving some poke. Everything is fresh caught, so fresh, and tasty. I got a one poke scoop with 2 sides and also a small container of another poke (because I had to try a different flavor!) If you're on the north side of the Big Island, definitely worth a trip here!

Always good!! We eat here every time we're in Hawi. My partner always gets the poke nachos and I had the giant shrimp. Great service, super fresh and good value.

Great food, friendly atmosphere. Came all the way from the mainland for good poke. Spicy ono and ocean salad. I will be back!

Beautiful handmade jewelry. Original and affordable.

Best grindz here so skip the overpriced tourist spots! The fresh from da sea selections of ahi, ono, aka, marlin poke at Rising Tide remain the freshest, friendliest, and most affordable nearby. The warm and friendly folks that run this multigenerational lunch and early dinner spot is signature Kohala aloha. In addition to their delicious poke combo plate, poke nachos, and ono bombs, their daily lunch specials are $17 or less and the specials that turn over daily like crab stuffed portabello topped with seafood, meatloaf, and egg foo yung with bbq pork, are hearty and inventive. Do your one stop shopping here for gifts and adornment too! Check out there beautiful handcrafted jewelry. This is the talent family. I tell you! SO DANG GOOD! Located in the historic Nanbu building, stop next door and try Pomaikai Cafe's lilikoi cinnamon rolls next door for dessert. Come ready to fall in love with RTP but please don't eat up all the crab sides before I can get my daily poke bowl! MABUHAY RISING TIDE POKE!

Two choice poke with mac salad and kimchi crab

The poke was excellent and so were the sides. We tried three different kinds of poke (one on nachos) and got the kimchi crab and the mac salad as sides. Everything tasted great and the service was exceptional. They went above and beyond to make sure we had napkins, condiments, water, utensils etc. (mind you it isn't a full-service type of restaurant and yet the service was above most other restaurants I've ever been to) they also have this cute map up where you can add a pin of your name and where you're from

Shoyu poke, rice, ebi w/tomato & onion, kimchi cucumber.

Cute little pike shop in Kohala. Very clean. Service was great. Poke tasted so good, fresh. They also sell jewelry

    Amazing poke bowl

Great family owned poke spot! Many poke options and a selection of sides to go with it. Highly recommend it!

It was raining when we went, and they even brought our food out to us in the rain, which we really appreciated. The atmosphere is so cute--you can sit upstairs under all the lights, stay dry, and just enjoy the whole vibe. The only downside we noticed was that the price for sides of sauce felt a bit expensive. But overall, such a great spot with amazing food and kind service--we'd definitely come back!

They have 2 long picnic tables right outside to sit, but other than that it'll likely be takeout. The parking lot is very compact with a 15min time limit. Not sure how strict they are about the 15min limit, but just be courteous so others can also park and enjoy the food! There was already a line when we arrived, so I recommend getting there early. Their poké also tasted so fresh! Their portions are smaller and prices are higher for the amount you get compared to other poké places... but for sure it is quality over quantity here. I'm OK with that. I'm not a huge ahi poké gal, but they didn't have salmon so I just got it with the garlic shrimp. But everything was so delicious! The seaweed salad, imitation crab salad, kimchi, and kimchi mussels were all good. Fairly simple to order: bowl vs plate (1 side for bowl and 2 sides for plate, 2 servings of poké). Brown vs white rice. Top shelf: sides. Bottom shelf: poké. They also offer a variety of sauces for your poké. They are all pretty good, but my favorite was the avocado aioli. The wet Hawaiian and Pele's kiss were also good per family. Definitely worth trying and repeating. Personally, I prefer this poké place over Pau Hana Poké. Service was nothing spectacular, just efficient and busy. No small talks here.

Well that ain't happening here. Stopped here to grab a few basics. Shelves are almost empty and selection sparse. But the kicker was the attitude of the woman behind the counter. Surly, snappy and went out of her way to be unpleasant. We all have bad days but rolling your eyes because I ask for sauce on the side instead of on top for a poke bowl? Arguing with me because I want to buy twelve Sparkling Ice drinks? Another eye roll when we added another popsicle to our items before she was finished ringing up all our items! I should have just left everything on the counter and walked out. Instead I spent $100 and got tons of attitude. Couple days later I needed more ice. Go back here? Heck no. I opted for the premium fresh ahi tuna Hawaiian style which is $20 for a pick 2 poke bowl. I ended up choosing that and the spicy salmon. Loved the flavor of the spicy salmon which tasted like a gochujang seasoning. I'm not a huge fan of mayo in poke so this was great for something spicy without the creaminess of mayo. Ahi was great as well, the Hawaiian flavor is on the lighter side but it did taste very fresh. We arrived early after maybe 10am. That means like should be fresh, right? The gentleman serving poke was wonderful! Very kind and easy to talk to. He was very patient waiting for us to make a decision. Once, we were ready to check out, only self check-out was available. This was fine. No big deal. We also purchased fried vinegar chicken wings (which was really good). They've made portions smaller but it's ok. Still worth the money. Now, for the poke itself. It was not good. I couldn't figure out why and husband said it did not seem fresh. That's it. The texture or flavor was not what it usually is. It was ok but they have served better. I have been craving this poke for weeks too. It was so bad that I just didn't feel like stopping by another day. Maybe, next time we visit, the poke will be fresh. Keep in mind, this is one of the only grocery stores around this area so be prepared for some very high prices on water and snacks. Convenient items needed are very pricey as well. Excellent customer service will make up for all those things though. I'm sure I will be back. Oh, and I cannot forget my butter mochi. Another craving I get in Hawaii. I will wait to hit the grocery stores for this and it never disappoints.

The Absolute Best Meal on the Island--A Masterclass in Food & Service!…read moreIf I could give Seafood Bar & Grill 10 stars, I would. This wasn't just a dinner; it was our absolute favorite meal of the entire trip. We didn't even have a special occasion to celebrate--we just had a phenomenal experience here in the past and couldn't wait to return. They somehow managed to exceed every expectation. From the second we walked in, we were blown away. We loved the Tiki Bar, everyone is family when you walk in, history covering the walls ambiafamily-friendly; ev Seafood We were greeted by Dave Yurtin, the owner, who set up a fabulous table for us inside. But here is the kicker: Dave actually remembered us from our first visit two years ago! Talk about a total legend. We couldn't believe his memory--that is next-level hospitality. Our server, Ryan, provided spectacular, world-class service. He didn't write a single part of our big order down and got absolutely everything 100% right. He was attentive, fast, and incredibly sharp--he even remembered at the end that my mother-in-law had asked for onion rings once she was finished, before changing her mind. Incredible! Now, let's talk about the food and drinks because WOW. We started with the drinks, and these were hands-down the absolute best Mai Tais we have had on the island. Every single dish that hit the table was a home run: - Escargot: Wow, wow, wow, wow! Absolutely phenomenal. The pesto and cheese with the garlic bread? Unreal. - Seafood Quesadilla & Coconut Shrimp: Perfectly executed and delicious. - Braised Short Ribs: Out of this world. Fall-off-the-bone tender. - Pineapple Macnut Slaw: Insane flavor. Do not skip this! - Garlic Bread: Spectacular and perfect for soaking up every last bit of flavor. - Fish Linguine: A rich, perfectly balanced cream sauce packed with different types of fresh fish. Somehow, we saved room for dessert and tried FOUR different ones: the Key Lime Pie was unbelievable, the Lilikoi Pie and Kona Coffee Pie were spectacular, and the NY Cheesecake with Lilikoi Sauce was the perfect grand finale. Between Dave's legendary memory, Ryan's flawless service, and a kitchen that doesn't miss, Seafood Bar & Grill is an absolute must-visit. We will be talking about this meal until our next visit!
