Well had a pizza yesterday. Noticed the guy in back carrying the crust like a frisbee. A bad sign to start. Premade crust like a giant matzah cracker. Not a good idea to advertise your a pizza place and start with premade anything. It's all downhill from there. Had what was supposed to be milk in packaged plastic bottle. Wow! Has this place plummeted downhill! Last night I bought a Pomodori special pizza from here. I've eaten their pizza since they first opened many years ago. Used to be close to excellent, with good ingredients and a tasty, real crust. What I got yesterday still had good toppings. But the heart of any great pizza is the crust. What Pomodori uses now are obviously pre-made, frozen shells bought from U.S. Foods, Sysco or some other industrial food supplier. Tasted horrible. Or rather, tasteless, air-filled soft white flour garbage. For $18.50 Peter (the owner) should take a full page ad in a newspaper and beg forgiveness. The food used to be very good. He knows how to make it that way, so this cheapo, ersatz crust was obviously a bu$iness decision. But hey, Peter has a growing family to support. Why not rip customers off? I grew up in Ipswich and was raised on this shit. Their roast beef is secretly the bomb, way better than overhyped Nick's Roast Beef in North Beverly. It has the perfect ratio of beef to sauce to bun. I love the pizza too. It's not Riverview but more traditional pizza and more convenient. Also they have a huge selection of subs. My favorite is the Honey BBQ Steak Tip sub. Only complaint: Their chili used to be the shit, I called and asked for it every day and they never had it. The portions were huge, could have been two meals. Pasta Tuesday discount was a great surprise that I discovered at check out! It was a great value even at full price.
