This was my first visit to Pompilios despite growing up in Bellevue, and I was not disappointed. Wish I had been there before now! We started with Caesar side salads and bread. Hubby ordered the lasagna and I had cannelloni with Alfredo sauce, topped with melted cheese. The croutons on the salad looked homey, and tasted delicious! Tips for this place 1. You can do street parking around the area if the parking lot is full 2. The ladies room is quite cramped and small Got the veal marsala for $26 and it was quite flavorful - actually it is one of the pricier dishes on the menu. This place is absolutely amazing... never disappoints. All three of us got something different and loved everything. The picture I'm posting here is my entrée which was cheese ravioli with a vodka sauce. Unbelievable. They make all their pasta fresh every day and you can tell. I haven't eaten at Pompillo's in years, a friend of my raved about their hoagie and how it was the best hoagie she's ever eaten. My husband and I were out with another couple and decided to try the hoagie for ourselves, although i did change my mind and went with the Chicken parmigiana he stuck to getting the mushroom hoagie, both were flavorful and delicious especially the fries they were amazing, one of the best, and the sauce on the chicken parmigiana was so good rich in flavor. The only complaint was the complimentary bread very dry and flavorless but the meals and the dessert were delicious. Oh i don't want to forget our waitress she was very patient and helpful she did an awesome job. We will definitely be back! read more

Horrible experience. My daughter was in from the west coast and wanted to go to an Italian place in Cincinnati. I thought why not go to Pompilios for dinner. Big mistake. Very slow service. Took 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. Finally dropped some bread and butter but no water. Eventually, our waitress showed up. Took another 10 minutes to get the wine we ordered. Waitress was not good at her job. Food Quality was not good. My daughter found a metal staple in her ravioli. I asked for the GM. She apologized. I had to go back a few minutes later and check if they were bringing another order of ravioli for my daughter and wife. Instead of prioritizing their order, we had to wait another 10+ minutes for their replacement order to be brought out. Meanwhile, I had the veal Marsala and had to eat it while they waited for their ravioli. Don't waste your money on the veal Marsala. Veal was overcooked, the mushrooms were shriveled up and old looking. Very little flavor or sauce. The only thing in that dish that was edible was the linguine. Management The GM never came to our table to apologize. They did comp my daughter's ravioli but nothing else. They behaved like it was no big deal to find a metal staple in the food. An open end metal staple , if ingested, can perforate the stomach or intestines. Summary This was the worst experience in dining we have had in many a year and we eat out quite often. This is not the same Pompilios I remember from the past. We will never return to this place. Bad management, bad attitudes, mediocre food quality and dangerous foreign objects in the food. It had been a while since we dined at Pompilios so the limited lunch menu on a Sunday came as a bit of a shock. Some of our favorite appetizers like the mussels, meatball casserole and eggplant parmesan were not available. For the mains classics like the Italian Sampler and Renaldo (two of my favorites) were still available, but veal parmesan and other specialties were not. The food was good, the portions were generous, and the service was grear; the only thing we didn't care for was the limited menu on a weekend. I think we will avoid Pompillios for after church and make sure we dine on an evening moving forward. read more

I've eaten at Pompilio's many times, this was our first time having lunch. The lunch menu was very limited (I had no idea) and the service was prolonged. It took forever to get our appetizers, the server was not attentive and they were not busy. The food was bland and the Coke Zero was flat. We had to ask for the correct number of table settings multiple times, she kept forgetting. This was supposed to be a birthday celebration for my son-in-law unfortunately this was a big disappointment. When we were leaving the server was outside smoking in front of the establishment, which explains why the service was abysmal. This was an expensive lunch for it to be so bad. We were recommended this restaurant and had high hopes for the authentic Italian food, I will agree the food was really great, I can not say the same for service. All though my server herself was doing a wonderful job with our table; It was very disappointing to come to this prospective family atmosphere to hear a grown man, a service worker at this establishment yelling about how "Hot" he thought another male patron was, while screaming out "my P*SSY is so wet, my juices are all over the floor right now and proceed to fan himself with a menu in his genital area. Good food, GREAT atmosphere. We were surprised to find ourselves where Rain Man filmed a scene. We were just looking for Italian food in the northern Kentucky area (surprisingly hard if you want anything other than pizza). Yet there were were, sitting in the incredibly overcrowded bar where the pancake/toothpick scene was filmed. Makes for a fun evening and helps you not think about how crowded it is. The bowl of soft Italian bread and cold butter than arrives soon after you sit is a nice touch. My salad was delicious. The meat ravioli was far different than any I'd had before and I now understand why marinara sauce is called gravy in the NE. It was just the same consistency! But the flavor was good. The ravioli was hand folded and larger, lumpier than what I've seen before. Good but different. Never been here...we followed the signs outside that directed us to a side door. Entered through the doors to no signs, no directions, no greetings from staff. The party in front of us seated themselves. A waitress walked past us with menus and smiled and kept on going. Naturally we thought we were to seat ourselves at one of the many open tables. We sat, someone came to our table and brought us bread and butter and we were ready to enjoy our dinner. Then, someone came to our table, asked us if we had checked in with the hostess. We honestly replied "what hostess"? Since we had followed directions to the entrance and there wasn't a hostess in sight. She rudely stated there was a minimum 45 minute wait and we needed to leave. Which we did. And will not return. Wow. Not the response I was expecting, but it is what it is. It turned out all right for us that night. Certainly one of the Cincinnati area's best spots for red sauce Italian. That place where Rain Man counted the matches offers up some tasty salsa preferita. I only wish that I remembered to go here more often. On a recent visit I tried the pasta sampler, which let me taste four of Pompilio's sauces. This turned out to be a truly inspired choice. I was visiting the area from out of town and friends had made a reservation here. It was the first time for all of us. The service was great; servers were pleasant. It did seem to take a while wot get bread to the table but the restaurant was busy; it was a Saturday evening/early evening. Appetizer was the meatball casserole. That just sounds good, doesn't it? It was. Meatballs, cheese and pita chips. If I were a solo diner, I could have eaten that as my meal and been satisfied. I cannot remember what my companions had but I had the Italian Sampler for my entree. It had a meatball which I saved for the next day and it was even better then. I absolutely love this food!! This is some of the best Italian you can get in the greater Cincinnati area by far. I had the Three Cheese Tortellini and risotto balls. Cooked to perfection. A pleasant surprise in Newport. Very old-school style Italian joint that seemed to be a big draw for regulars! They had an abundant selection of bourbons, capped off with Pappy Van Winkle. There were also several unique takes on bourbon cocktails. This is the type of place you ask your bartender/waitress for a recommendation and then you take it.
