I was a little skeptical about trying Trecento based on some of the reviews, but I'm so glad we decided to ignore them. This place is absolutely amazing. Yes, the restaurant is small, but anyone who has dined in a major metropolitan city will recognize that the intimate setting is completely comparable and so is the quality of the food. My husband and I wanted to sample more of the menu, but we were in a hurry, so we ordered the Margherita pizza and the bolognese. Both were delicious. The pizza had a beautifully thin, crispy crust, just like a traditional brick-oven Neapolitan pizza. You could immediately tell the sauce was made in-house, and the fresh basil and high-quality mozzarella brought everything together perfectly. The bolognese was clearly prepared with a rich, traditional ragù and was the star of the meal. I can't say for certain whether the pasta was made in-house, but the sauce was so flavorful and well executed that it honestly didn't matter. I also had the Fragola Spritz, which complemented the meal beautifully. Our server, Becky, was especially attentive and made the experience even better. If you haven't tried Trecento yet, I highly recommend it. We will absolutely be back and next time, we're making sure we have enough time to explore more of the menu. read more

I'll start by saying the service was great - the chef came out and interacted with every table and our server was very accommodating and understating. The lunch special was exactly what I expected for $15, very average all around. No standout flavors or anything surprising, but overall a good deal. The disappointment set in when our server dropped off our espresso martinis; I could tell just by looking at them that they were watery. And not just watery, they tasted like straight vodka with a splash of black coffee and not a single bubble of foam. In talking with the server, we found out they use an espresso martini concentrate and mix it with vodka, which checks out. Personally having 4+ years of bartending experience, I know it's possible to batch good martinis as long as you're shaking them upon ordering, and that's clearly not what they were doing. I really just expected more from a place that markets themselves as Italian and is connected to an elite private social club. I'd urge them to please do some R&D instead of taking the easy way out... or at least observe what they look like going out to tables because they were genuinely disgusting. They did take them back when we complained and took them off the bill. It's been weeks now and I'm still thinking about how bad they were. Other than that, just know the restaurant itself is very small, so trying to get a table may be challenging. My friend also doesn't eat red meat, and the only pasta option for her was spaghetti. We were heading to a concert at Heritage without a dinner plan. What the 4 of us failed to consider was the Guardians/Reds opener. With 50 minutes until showtime we didn't want to pop into a loud, crowded bar and stumbled upon peaceful, chic Trecento. With a 30 minute wait, we almost left but the hostess was so kind and reassuring that they would get us seated asap. Less than 20 minutes later, we were at a beautiful table, water poured and orders taken. The pizzas, fries, sandwich were fantastic. The salad was fresh, pickled shallots added a lovely brightness and salmon was perfectly cooked. I'm stunned to see low reviews because this place hit on all aspects. My boyfriend and I have been wanting to go since they opened. They finally have their pizza oven back up and running. The service was nice but the inside was much smaller than I anticipated. They were out of focaccia and had regular bread and it was crusty and super hard. They have half orders of pastas which we loved so we didn't have to get a full order and could share. The pepperoni pizza was good! It had a soft but flaky crust. My favorite thing was probably the pizza. We finished with a tiramisu which was good with the marscapone cream. I would come back for the pizza but the pastas didn't blow me away. It felt like our pastas had been sitting out for awhile before they were brought to our table. read more

My first time here was ~3.5 months ago after a Reds game. The experience was great, told a lot of people how awesome this place was. My second time was today and wow I'm shocked at the decline in service and food quality. Both times I ordered the Trecento Salad and the Pepperoni pizza. I remember 3.5 months ago the pizza had large peoperonis and had fresh basil on top of it. The dough was crisp and fresh. Today it had pepperoni cups and no basil. The dough was rubbery with no sauce. The salad today was also borderline rotting and slimy. Looks to me someone recently has made the call to start cutting corners. read more

Staff were amazing. Very helpful, polite and professional. Ambience is quaint and quiet. However it had 4 large tvs on the walls, so a quiet place to eat, but still able to watch the game. I liked it. Just different from the Italian restaurants we were used to. Cocktails were priced right and both very good. Meatballs for appetizers were very good. You get 3 meatballs and the sauce is fabulous. Entrees were plentiful and full of flavor. Short rib special was great. Pasta and peppers were a big hit also. Met the chef on the way out and she was kind to stop and share about the food. Valet parking offered, but a parking garage next to was just as easy. Will definitely go back. read more

I really wanted to like this place but the food is not seasoned at all. I've tried the Caesar salad and the gemelli and spice. Salad had barely any dressing, no cheese, and the croutons were soft. Gemelli and spice had maybe one tiny pepper but otherwise very bland. I will give them a try once their pizza oven is back up. But it seems to have been down since the first week they opened. Rounded up from a 7/10. I had high hopes but was a bit let down by this place. The service was good and the inside was cute. I just think the menu needs some work. The pizza oven was down, which I knew about in advance and I appreciate them texting me to let me know prior to the reservation. I figured I'd be fine with the pasta. However, I ordered the Cacio E Pepe and wasn't really a huge fan. It mostly tasted overwhelmingly of oil and pepper. Definitely needed a little more cheese to balance it out. The portion size was good. This is usually one of my favorite dishes but I would not order it again unless they revised the recipe. My friend got the Gemelli and Spice and I believe hers was better. If I return, I'll probably try the pizza. I also thought the menu just needed a few more options in general, as it's pretty small. The drinks were also pretty expensive at $16 and there were only 3 cocktails to choose from. I ended up ordering a cocktail off the menu. I hope this place can make some needed adjustments and would be happy to return if they update a few things. Also would love if they had parking suggestions on their website. All of the lots I'd planed on parking in were blocked off or full and I ended up parking under the Reds stadium, so I'd give yourself extra time to get to your reservation if driving in. read more

This place has potential to grow . It's in the downtown banks area. It's not terrible but not great. It's small and I will say nice, but reservations will be needed as it picks up. I had the casarecche with ricotta hold the sausage. It was just okay .i had to add pepper to the pasta. They will have the oven going for the pizza starting next week so I didn't get to experience it yet. It's a well decorated space and I can see hosting a a party here if the food improves . They have valet and street parking. I will try it again but they have a few kinks to work out. read more

Located downtown at 3rd and Main, this is an italian restaurant located downtown. One disappointment was a listing for lunch and dinner for Restaurant week and only dinner was offered. Service was slow for lunch time. They didn't have a bottle of wine listed on the menu ( of all wines not to have, a Sangiovese). No big deal but still not a good thing. Note to manager on that as well. The bolognese was pretty good, and the casarecce and spice was good as well. The pasta seemed a little undercooked but was still tasty. They take reservations and parking on street or nearby garages.if you do decide to dine here, they offer 1/2 plate and full plate orders... a full will feed two people.... or one BIG guy. One last mention... when my wife made the reservation, she noted this lunch was for my birthday. It was probably overlooked . Heck, as I said before, not a big deal . read more

First time review for this. I have been wanting to try Trecento since it opened last summer. There's so many places and with travel, we've just gotten around to trying. I booked it early in January for Valentine's Day. We were greeted by a a lovely woman at the host desk, after valet parking out front. We arrived early in hope of sitting at the bar to enjoy a pre dinner cocktail. Fortunately there was space so we sat and enjoyed a dirty and espresso martini, which were both to our liking! We watched them make pizzas and chatted with the very nice man who was making them. Once it was time, we were seated. Ordered content cocktail and the caprese salad to share. Honestly from our perspective the salad was the highlight of our meal. It's legit delicious and rivals those in Italy. We then ordered the bolognese and a pepperoni pizza to try as well as split. Neither of us were the slightest bit impressed with the bolognese. In Cincinnati, you must bring "better than A" game for bolognese, because without mentioning others by name, there's much better locally. Finally the pizza ( which I decided was what I would mostly eat) arrived and it was yummy. My recommendation would be if you don't want to. E underwhelmed, avoid the bolognese. Get a pizza, and capture salad. Also grab some cocktails, they do have a nice cocktail list full of tasty options. The restaurant itself is small but with high ceilings so it doesn't feel congested. The staff is pleasant and the chef came and greeted us, and was very kind. I believe she may be the proprietor. It's worth a try! read more

We went to Trecento for lunch on their opening day, we did not have to wait long for a table & I did enjoy the open door concept - perfect for a nice day! 2 friends and I split the Caesar salad, half order of cacio e Pepe, wood-fired pizza, and fries. It was a great amount for us! The half order of cacio e pepe is very generous and really was the star of the show- it was so good. The Caesar salad was nicely dressed/had a good amount but I wish it had a little more flavor- the croutons were great though! The wood-fired pizza may have been a teeny bit under cooked in the middle but it honestly was still really good! We had a great experience- I am looking forward to coming back in the future as I know opening day is always hectic but they did a great job! read more

We went on their grand opening day since we were in the area. We ordered a mocktail, a pizza, a pasta entree and some dessert. Service here was super friendly and surprising fast for it being their first day open. Their pizza and tiramisu were the stand out menu items for us. Their tiramisu was served in a chilled glass cup and was perfectly sweet. You could really taste the coffee without it being too strong or bitter. For the pizza, we got a classic with added pepperoni and ranch on the side. They have a huge wood fire oven behind their bar so we got to watch it being made. It was crispy around the edges with light sauce which is exactly how I like my pizza. I wish their caesar salad had a little more dressing on it, it was pretty dry and left you wanting something more. The ravioli was delish and buttery, I would love to come back to try their cacio e pepe. Overall, the restaurant was super cute and not too big. Service was good and food was good. I will come back in a couple months once they settle in a little bit more. read more

I read all the reviews and was dreading eating here, but it was fine. We had the warm olives and the focaccia to start. The olives were very good, but it's hard to screw those up. The focaccia was just ok, didn't taste very fresh. I tried the italian sandwich and the short rib entree. Both were good, but the short rib was overcooked. The potatoes that came with the short rib were excellent. This is an odd part of downtown, so I'm not sure how well they will do. It was a Saturday night with a Reds game and Oktoberfest going on and they were not busy. Not a great sign. The atmosphere is nice and the service was good, fingers crossed they get the pizza oven figured out, pizza would be a nice addition. read more

I feel the need to rate this place after seeing it only has 3 stars. My wife and I had an awesome date night here. Honestly, I'm not a huge pasta guy but this was on par with pasta I've had in little Italy in NYC. Service was outstanding. The meatballs tasted a little over done. For veal, they did not melt in my mouth. The gnocchi was really good. I would say Pepp & Dolores is "wow" for their price, as a reference. The windows are blacked out- so when we drove by we were concerned that they weren't even open as you couldn't see any light being on, even though we had a reservation. Thankfully they were open, which we confirmed when we called asking about best place to park, even though the person answering had no idea (we were looking for close parking because it was raining). The place is small. There are less than 10 tables and it is attached to the Moxy I believe. We went during restaurant week- but no worries- they were only providing that menu Thur-Sunday and we went earlier in the week- which was a miss on my part- it was not a deal breaker because we wanted to try the place regardless- but it felt like a bait in switch as we didn't know you could just opt into some days of restaurant week. They had 3 pastas and 3 meat entrees and that's it as far as meals. They didn't get the right permit for the pizza oven, so that was not an option like we thought when we booked the reservation. We started with bread service that was about 8 tiny pieces of foccia bread that were toasted- so dipping crunchy bread in oil/balsamic was weird... I was guessing it was stale bread they were trying to reuse. There were tiny little gnats flying around- for a restaurant that's been opened less than 2 months that is concerning. The bolognese was fine- the casarecce and spice pasta was not spicy and really lacked flavor. The meatballs were the highlight of the meal along with the cacio e pepe potato... the caprese salad was served with unripe beefsteak tomatoes. The table next to us arrived after us and left about a half hour before us, service had been fine, but there was a huge lag from the time we received our meatball , bread and salad until we received our entrees. It was our 25th anniversary and while noted on the reservation, not one person acknowledged it. We tried to order dessert to go but was told that tiramisu was in a dish that couldn't be ordered to go. At that point we were just done with the restaurant. They had so many staff just standing around- but only 1 server. Thankfully we had gone out the weekend before to a really nice steak dinner, but a total let down by Trecento on what should have been a special evening. read more
