I went to this location today with two bins full of plastic bottles. One of the workers told me that I needed to "separate" them. I was confused because I did not understand what he wanted me to separate, and when I asked, he only mumbled something that I could not understand. I then asked the employee who was entering the scale numbers what exactly needed to be separated. He explained that the non-CRV bottles needed to be separated from the CRV bottles. I told him that I honestly did not know that was required and that this was the first time anyone at this location had mentioned it to me. I also told him that now that I knew, I would make sure to separate them next time. Instead of simply explaining the policy, he responded, "Nope, we tell everyone every day," which came across as though he was accusing me of lying. He then said something along the lines of, "You probably didn't get paid for it then," and pointed to a sign located on the left side of the container. The sign is positioned in an area that is not easily visible to customers. I have no issue following the rules or separating the bottles now that I understand the requirement. My complaint is about the way the situation was handled. A simple, professional explanation would have been enough. There was no reason for the employee to be dismissive or imply that I was being dishonest simply because I was unaware of the policy. I would recommend making the signage more visible and ensuring employees communicate these requirements respectfully, especially when a customer is asking a legitimate question and is willing to comply. read more

I guess it depends on who is working. Wife and I brought less bags and got more money. The last time wife and I came here we brought more bags and less money. I thought I was tripping and said Nevermind. But after some of these reviews I'm not. they wasn't rude to me and they are smart because they don't want this smoke. Not coming back here again. Quick and easy recycling process! My neighbor brought me here the first time I came. We both sorted our bottles & cans into the provided plastic garbage cans. This recycling center is a little hidden, but worth finding! It's located near the backside of the Planet Fitness Gym. You just keep driving past it and turn left (the only direction available). This second time I came by myself. Unstacking the plastic garbage cans is probably the most difficult thing to do! They create a vacuum and get stuck together. I got a few apart and began tossing in the sorted recyclables. I brought: *1 Kitchen bag of Aluminum Cans = $2.55 *3 Kitchen Bags of Plastic Bottles = $20.29 *15 Glass Bottles = $0.92 *1 Plastic Milk Bottle = $0.13 Two things I appreciate are: You don't need to separate glass bottles by color, AND you don't need to show your I.D. to receive your money. The only thing I wished they had was a hand washing station. It would be nice, but not a deal breaker. I use gloves to do keep my hands clean while working. Plus, I always carry Hand Sanitizer, so I'm doubly good! I noticed that the redemption prices have have fluctuated. Also, there are three new categories of which I'm not entirely sure what they are. Next time I have a good amount of recyclables, I'll bring them here again! read more

I brought in my recycling and I I was still removing the recycling out of my car. One of the employees was very nice and started emptying the bags with my recycling now they don't have to do that. It was just them being very nice so the service was phenomenal. They were very nice quick with theservice the quality of the service was great and I got the value for my money. There's usually a line but they work fast. Had a ton of recycling, got there at 4:40pm, lined up and thought they weren't going to accept our recyclables. They were able to get our recycling just before they closed and were so fast and efficient. Highly recommend coming here. read more

I couldn't hear what this person was saying because all of the background noise, and when I leaned in closer to hopefully hear what this person was saying they just slammed their hand on the shelf in front to of me.. Rejects recycling, doesn't explain why they look at you like you are stupid for coming then look at your recycling, "NO!", "Why ca-.", "NO", "So can I know why., "NO!" THIS IS THE PLACE!!!!!! I have been to many recycling centers and they all seem to be dishonest. I asked a guy (won't mention facility) to put the empty barrel on the scale. After much argument, it was not at the tare weight. The tare weight was supposed to be 9.2 lbs and the container weighed 11.1 lbs. At PONCE, they were friendly, answered all my questions and when asked to place an empty on the scale, they did it proudly. Exact. Then I asked to add just 1 can, IT REGISTERED! This place is a class act and i recommend it to all. Great service, clean, plenty of containers and a super fun and friendly staff. read more

Located at the back of the Torrance Promenade strip mall, better access using the Del Amo and Hawthorne in my opinion. Opens daily at 9am and closes at 5pm. Parking is easy. Come early if you can to avoid the line but line moves fast. Get those blue barrels to your car and dump your recycles or move your bags of recyles to the line. Once the weighing is done, go to that small window, receipt is printed, fill it up and sign, and your cash is ready. Easy peasy! Just don't forget to count them before leaving! read more

Ok in a pinch, but I would really rather throw my cans in the recycling bin then deal with these guys and their poor attitude. They get so upset when there's a long line and make the experience so much worse! They act like we are a bother to them or something. They will also try to close early, cut the lines with their own cans, and blast their loud music from their noisy cans. Literally go anywhere else. Not worth your time and peace of mind. read more

Scam/fraud alert: they preset their scale to -9.3 lbs and while the garbage bins are somewhat that weight, the cheap plastic containers with the netting is definitely not 9.3 lbs (more like 2 lbs at most). 8 full bags of recycles and we never reach $20 anymore. I stopped by the Redondo Beach location in the Ralph's parking lot. My payout was $23.69. The guy who is not visible while at the cashier's window pushed out $5's and $1's and .69 cents. I glanced at the money, but I did not want to appear I did not trust the man by counting it. When I got to my car, I counted the money and is $18.69. I knew I should have counted at the counter, but I didn't want to insult the man's integrity. Two of five stars to the slim worker who was helpful, and 0 of 5 stars to the large guy who shortchanged me $5.00. I had observed the large guy working inside the unit. I was referred to this place by more than one person. They seem to be better than most out there in terms of payouts. There is always a line, but they always seem to get the line through quickly no matter how many people are there. Courteous and respectful, they are always friendly. I haven't really compared them to others myself, but I have read reviews from similar places and think I made the right choice coming here. I have found them to be honest, unlike some of the reviews I see here. I always look at the weight and compare it to the funds I receive, so far, so good. The person who is on weighing the items (plastics & cans) & enters the information on the computer by the name 'ARMANDO" is a big thief. Armando & his people are all working together to steal you. They work very fast so they can deceive you, and you do not catch the scale. If you give them cans & plastic bottles, they give a ticket for only cans or for only plastic bottles. They even do not put the right weight on the scale. I caught them. They did the same to friends, and they caught them too. Armando should be fired. I used to go rePlanet next to Ralphs on Sepulveda Blvd which is now closed, I found this recycling center. I wish I knew this place when they opened. Why? 1) line moves very fast!! 2) they take most of recyclable material (not like rePlanet) 3) they smile! (I may have come this place only once so far, but people who worked at rePlanet where I used to go never smiled back to you. I never seen them smile except when they are chatting with co-workers) 4) they open at 9am (it fits my schedule) 5) they open 7days/week!! read more
