The Tom Yum soup was excellent. My wife had the Panang Curry and she loved it I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

You know a place is good when we come twice in a row during vacation! We were in CO for the Rocky Mountain Siberian Husky Club specialty and I was craving Thai food. As I hail from CA, we have plenty of authentic Thai restaurants to choose from. As such, I was looking for a small, authentic Thai place near Brighton, where the show was being held. Ponsawan came recommended, and I was immediately drawn to this place especially with its namesake. Some of the best Thai places I've been to have "difficult"-sounding names. It was dinner the first time we went, and we were seated quickly. Our server was friendly, and gave us time to peruse the menu. I went with the pineapple fried rice while my husband went with the pork pad Thai. The pineapple fried rice had a lovely wok hei and there were plenty of fresh pineapples as well. I loved the cashews on the side, and the crispy cucumbers. Portion size was perfect. My husband's pad Thai was saucy and tamarind-y. Personally, I prefer a drier pad Thai, but he enjoyed this, I think mainly because of how strong the tamarind flavor was. Our server asked if we wanted to try the mango sticky rice since she said it was mango season, but we politely declined. The next day, we were both craving Ponsawan again, so we came for a late lunch. The owner recognized us and welcomed us back in. This time, we also got drinks and an app. I went with the Thai tea and my husband went with the Thai coffee. Both were not too sweet and a good strength. The app we chose was the dumplings, which were fried to perfection and came with the most delicious dipping sauce. As far as our entrees, I went with the pork pad kee mao and my husband went with the yellow curry fried rice. Our server apparently heard his order incorrectly and gave him the pineapple fried rice, but apologized and was quick to rectify the situation. As such, I received my food first, and had to wait a few more minutes before we could eat together. The pad kee mao had the perfect amount of spice, and the pork was tender. The yellow curry fried rice again had a lovely wok hei and the curry powder was delightfully pungent. Both times we dined, our food didn't take long to arrive at all. I'd say less than 15 minutes for both of our dishes. They had lunch specials, but for the price point of the entrees, it was a no brainer to just order entrees. The food was super affordable and the portion sizes were not skimpy at all. Not huge, but definitely not skimpy. Ponsawan is easily on my favorites list for the Denver area and we will most certainly be back the next time we go to CO! (I will also need to try their curries, so that is a high priority for our next visit.) read more

Food is presented nicely and delicious. You can order al la carte, we ordered individual dishes: Drunken Noodles (spicy) yummy, Pad Thai w/Chicken (no spice) also meant no taste, Beef salad (no spice) it was tasty, except cilantro and side of coconut rice. They said, it's usually eaten together I'd skip it next time. Also, Spring Rolls with Peanut Sauce (w/tofu) I asked, if they could make it with beef, couldn't and it's all veggies, served with peanut sauce is yummy. For dessert, ordered mango with sticky rice, it's yummy, plus mangoes are in season. I forgot to take pictures of food, guess we're hungry. Service is good, there's only 2 ladies serving for entire restaurant. Plus, it was during dinner rush, she got all of our orders correctly, exception of cilantro in my dish. She got all of our drinks, even water for my service dog. It was busy, service is slow, little patience goes long way. It was lovely to eat inside, clean & kid friendly. read more

Excellent! We have only been here in Fort Collins a few months and are desperate to find good asian restaurants. Ponsawan has been a good find for us! Dim sum were served hot and fresh with good flavor; pork and shrimp shumai better than the plain pork dumplings. Don't miss the string beans in black bean sauce! They were out of the vegan dumplings and we did not try the black truffle soup dumplings, or the fried rice dishes so we will have to go back!! read more

Wow, this place is excellent. I pulled in here on a drive, and I was delighted by the food and service. We got a Thai iced coffee with boba and a mango smoothie with boba. Both very tasty, with perfect tender boba. For food, beef pad Thai (my son declared it the best ever) and really great basil chicken. Then fresh mango and house coconut ice cream for dessert. Food: We had the crab cheese wontons to start off with and they were very good and unique!! It was a thin casing, different than others, but was surprisingly good. I had the pad Thai and it was very pretty when presented. The plate was very colorful. The flavors were there, and the noodles were perfect. Service: The service was great, our waiters came out every few minutes to make sure we were doing okay. Ambience: The bar area was very nice looking. It was much different from the outside, and was nice and clean on the inside. A hidden gem. I ordered the pineapple fried rice with shrimp, Thom Kha chicken soup, sticky rice mango dessert and Thai tea for takeout. The soup and fried rice hit the spot with the perfect amount of heat. Well cooked and well-seasoned with large pieces of shrimp/chicken. Delicious. I've had a lot of disappointing Thai food in Colorado so I'm usually hesitant to order. Seeing how Busy this place was and all the great reviews, I gave it a shot. Almost a 5 star place... yeah, the food quality and flavor is 5 stars but they charge extra for rice! So $1 is not a lot of money but its 2 cents worth of rice, literally... just include it, your meals are not cheap! What a great place! First time coming here and sad I only came to pick up my Togo order. Very cute inside and the absolute nicest people 'working' here, assuming they were the owners because of the pride they had for the authentic cuisine. Got pad thai and chow mein noodles , both great. Also got egg rolls and gyozas with the dipping sauces and were also quite tasty. I guess they also make their own teas and boba. From hello to good bye, this was a five star experience. We had the Chicken Satay, pineapple fried rice with chicken, and the Pad Thai with chicken and shrimp. The food was amazing! Omg we came for the first time and ordered drunken noodles with shrimp and chicken fried rice to share for 2 people and the food was absolutely delicious! The server gave us time to go over the menu before ordering and we were checked on while we ate if everything was okay and if we needed anything. It's a nice open dining room with plenty of seating. If there is any draw back it would be that our soft drink was in a can instead of a fountain drink. I must say it was also reasonably priced in this day and age. This is the third or fourth time we've come here and every time it is fabulous. The food is excellent not greasy very large portions. My wife got the eggplant dish and instead of having meat, she substituted it with broccoli. I got cashew nut medium spice, which was not too spicy, with seafood absolutely delicious. Go to this place. I'm a big fan of us thai cafe in Lakewood, and still am. But this place is different. The dumplings were good. Yummy. You can tell they were fresh made The chicken pad thai, so different! A sweet taste with a bit of "grill" flavor (that's the only way I can describe it). I got medium, which was the perfect mix of spicy and sweet. Normally I go for it when I get Thai, but this time I wanted to taste the sauce and rate this for you guys. A new day calls for a new Thai restaurant review! I can't stay away and will try any and all Thai restaurants. Ponsawan Thai is a hit for sure and cannot be missed. The service and interior are upscale and very classy. We were treated like royalty and the waitress was so nice. I could also tell that cleanliness is of upmost importance as the interior and restrooms were spotless. Cream Cheese Wontons. Light, airy and slightly crispy just like I like em. They had a good amount of filling and tasted scrumptious. As for the main dishes, Ponsawan serves an actual serving size of food, so it's literally the perfect size for me. I finished my whole meal and didn't have leftovers to take home. Take that as you will. Chicken Green Curry. I've been on a green curry kick and loved every bit of it! The curry sauce was perfection. We tried Ponsawan while staying at a nearby hotel. It was one of the only non-chain restaurants open for dinner close to us that had good reviews, so we were excited and hopeful. Unfortunately, our experience was only so-so. The restaurant was about half-full on a Friday evening, which worked out for us as we didn't want to be jammed inside with a bunch of other people and they don't seem to have outside seating. We were seated immediately. The restaurant is comfortable and nicely decorated and everything looked clean. Service was also great, definitely the shining star of the experience. Our food came out really quickly but still seemed like it was prepared fresh. Our waitress was also maybe the owner, I think -- she was excited to share with us the restaurant had just been open over a year. Impressive in a pandemic! She was sweet and kept on top of whether we wanted or needed anything. Unfortunately, the food didn't really wow. Not sure if they were having an off night or we ordered the wrong thing or what. My parents aren't super familiar with Thai food so I ordered for them - got beef pad see ewe for my mom and beef cashew nut for my dad. I got chicken pad see ewe and a Thai tea, while my fiancé got beef pad prik king. We also had some fried wontons for an appetizer. The fried wontons were supposed to be filled with chicken, and I guess they were, but they were mostly wrapping, each with maybe less than a postage stamp of filling inside them. What we got tasted good, but we were expecting some more filling. My Thai tea wasn't as sweet as I typically prefer it, but it was beautiful and I still enjoyed it well enough. The pad prik king was probably the best thing, or at least fiancé enjoyed it more than everyone else enjoyed their food. He said it was good but he ordered it medium spicy and he was really struggling towards the end, haha. He is typically quite tolerant of spice. So be careful with the spice level; they're serious about it! The pad see ewe was okay, but not great. It had good flavor, the meat was cooked well, and I enjoyed the presence of both the Chinese broccoli and the more typically American broccoli. However, the noodles weren't that good -- they were over cooked or something, as they were super soft and gummy. Lastly, my dad really didn't enjoy the beef cashew nut. He felt it tasted very shrimpy. The rest of it tasted it and we all agreed that it did have a shrimp flavor, though it bothered me least of all. Maybe too much shrimp paste or even fish sauce? I'm honestly not sure, but he barely touched his dinner. Overall, very nice people in a comfortable, clean restaurant. The food disappointed but perhaps we were just unlucky that night. read more

I dropped in for a quick lunch at Ponawan Thai today. When I arrived no one was in the restaurant but right after I sat down two other 2 top tables and a large party were sat as well. It took about 10 minutes to receive water and I immediately placed my order to make sure that I got my food in right away. I don't know how but my food was the last to come out, which was surprising and a little disappointing. This said, the food was delicious! I ordered the Pad See Yew lunch and a Tom Yum soup, both were on point and I was completely satisfied. I will say that had the service been more attentive and better I would have absolutely given 5 stars. I will try this place again hoping the service was fluke. read more

This is my absolute favorite Thai Spot in Colorado. I came here several times and the food is consistently delicious and the staff is extremely friendly. The first time I came I ordered pick up and the portions and packaging were nice. I ordered the Pad Thai and it had a nice texture and flavor, though a little on the sweet side. The second time I had the Pad See Ew noodles and those are my absolute favorite! The noodles had a delicious texture and flavor but not overwhelming soy sauce flavor and I had mine with scallops. The third time I came with my family, and we ordered several dishes to share. I loved the whole fish, it had a crispy outer layer and juicy inside. In terms of atmosphere, it's very clean inside and tons of seating. High ceilings makes the place a comfortable and breathable place for date nights or family outings. We've been long time regular customers... But over the last year and a half we've noticed a push to upsell while ordering, and frankly, that's OK. We understand that it's just a little uncomfortable sometimes., but we visited recently and there was a big long hair in my summer roll and we didn't pull it out because it was entangled inside the role and we showed it to the server She wanted to bring another one, but we didn't want it at that point You get two rolls approximately $10 in the order at first, they brought the bill without any discount at all and I had to ask and at that point they took off $2.79 ! Even though we sent the roll with the hair in it back to the kitchen I was thinking they could've at least deducted five dollars off but truthfully deducting the whole order at $10 would have been what I would have done if I were a manager, and I knew that I had regular customers at my table. It was a little uncomfortable, needless to say when I tried to tell them that I didn't think that was the right thing to do . Sad that they were willing to lose us as a customer and risk a bad review so needlessly ... just makes you lose confidence in the restaurant. I would've offered a very large tip.
