Thai Basil is one of my favorite things to check off the To Do list when I go to the front range. Their food is absolutely impeccable and their staff has always been over the top kind. I got lost on my way to grab pick up this last time we went and made it there way after closing time and the staff was super sweet and didn't make me feel even more stressed out than I already did. I really hate leaving negative reviews, but I also get really bummed when it's Friday night (not cooking night) and order in excitedly to be let down with the food. We ordered take out last night and every dish was a disappointment. Potstickers were overdone and way too chewy. Vietnamese egg rolls also over done and very chewy. They both had the consistency of something that was cooked, then recooked. Gross. The drunken noodles (thai hot) were super bland, even adding chili oil didnt help. The regular egg rolls were fresher, but super oily. When you bit in oil dripped out. Just an overall super disappointing experience. read more

The place and environment itself is cute. The decorations are nice and the space is nice. The seats are definitely worn down and it's not an up to date on everything but that doesn't bother me at all! The food is decent. The prices are your typical Asian dinner prices you would see at any establishment. They offer a variety of delicious foods. One thing I love is that online they have pictures of the different food items when you are looking which I absolutely love. The food can be a hit or miss. The food we ordered was average. Nothing special. The waitresses were extremely attentive and on it. However, once our check was delivered, they kept eyeing us and waiting for us to pay. We definitely felt rushed and it was a little uncomfortable with their constant checking in on us to see if we had put a card down. Overall, the food was alright. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here but if it was the only option, I wouldn't. The weird interaction once the check was delivered also did not make this experience the best. read more

I was happy that they have Sake! For a tiny restaurant in a small strip mall they typically don't have liquor licenses. We were told that it's a chain restaurant. IDC. Ordered here on UberEATS for pickup. It was ready very quickly in 15/20 minutes on a Friday around noon. They have plenty of good options to try for such a decent price! There were a few other people in the restaurant eating. I was able to pick it up very quick, they had it ready when I walked in. I paid $33 dollars for chicken skewers, shrimp pad see ew, fried rice and a side of peanut sauce. It is totally big enough for 2 hungry people to share, I turned it into 4 decent sized meals. The chicken skewers were absolutely amazing, moist with great flavor. Loved the peanut sauce as well. I took off half a star because the pad see ew was very different than the traditional style that I am used to. It was still good buy the noodles were a bit chewy. Overall, 4.5 star out of 5. A Thornton Gem -- Our Go-To Thai Spot Thai Basil has been one of our favorite local discoveries since we moved to Thornton two years ago. It's a small, family-owned, mom-and-pop restaurant with an inviting, homey feel -- the kind of place that quickly becomes a regular part of your life. And for us, it has. Their soups are wonderful. My husband loves the egg drop, and I'm devoted to their hot and sour. The large to-go container is very reasonably priced and has about four servings -- it's become a weekly staple for us: soup on Tuesday night, and lunch for days afterward. The pad Thai is fantastic, easily the best we've had in the area. We usually order takeout, but we've also dined in for date night, brought friends, and even come with our three young grandchildren. Ordered takeout Chicken Pad Thai. It was served quickly, under 5 minutes I think, and it was served steaming hot. Service was courteous and friendly. The lunch portion was generous. The description of the meal on the online order website is rice noodles with egg, green onions, bean sprouts and peanuts. Choice of chicken, beef, tofu, shrimp or combination. Upon closer inspection I noticed this order was light on the green onions and egg. The bean sprouts were absent. I looked at the other menu offerings and it looks promising, but I will not be ordering the Pad Thai again. read more

Hands down my favorite Thai restaurant. The food is always delicious and excellent portion sizes! Appetizers - Crab cheese wontons - 5/5, always full and flavorful! Potstickers - 5/5, great flavors, can't go wrong here! Main dishes - Pad Thai with chicken - 5/5. First, the portion size is perfect, you won't leave hungry and I almost always have some leftovers. When you're busy helping a friend move, even taking a break for lunch can feel tough (so much stuff! so many boxes!), even if you're in need of some grub to power through the rest of the day. In the midst of moving mayhem, we decided to get delivery food, with Thai Basil being the spot of choice. We called our order in, were promised it would be delivered within 25 minutes, and before 20 minutes had elapsed, the doorbell had rung with our lunch. I went with the lunch size of Pad Se-Lew with chicken. It turned out to be the perfect portion for one at midday, and the flavors hit the spot. It was medium level spicy, but I would have been happier even if it had a little more kick (so the spice-averse will probably not mind it, even at a medium level). The best part of the restaurant was the food taste. The old woman at the front desk was not friendly, and didn't make eye contact. No smiles, just frowns. Thornton definitely isn't bursting at the seams with Thai restaurants so this restaurant was a nice find. As an avid visitor of many Thai restaurants I was impressed. When you walk in it smells good and the restaurant is very clean. We were quickly greeted at the door and walked to our table. Upon being seated we instantly noticed the large framed photos on the walls. They were original pictures of what looked to be the family restaurant when they were still in Thailand. Super cool. Food came out quick and hot. I ordered the Panang Curry, (pictured below). Which was delicious, it had a good balance of savory and sweet. But the coconut was a little over powering. The girl who worked my table was very friendly, provided prompt refills, and boxed up my leftovers in front of me at the table. I appreciate when a server takes the time to do something like this. Unfortunately, that's where the praise ends, as the food seemed very Chinese and should not be described as Thai by any definition of the word. I ordered the Thai Spicy Soup and the Thai Basil Chicken. The dish I ordered was described as "spicy" but was only mildly so and tasted somewhat sweet, as if someone added sugar to the sauce. The soup was very greasy and didn't seem to be naturally spicy. Instead, they added a bunch of a powdered spice which floated its way to the top. To its credit, there were two very large pieces of shrimp in the soup which I wasn't expecting. However, a fortune cookie is decidedly not Thai and shouldn't be part of the experience. We had Thai Basil delivered. Good flavor on the pad Thai but just couldn't get it spicy enough for my liking. I got a side of hot chili with it and all but still no luck. I ended up trying to church it up at home with some red pepper flakes and siracha. Like I said though, the flavor was excellent without that stuff. Boo had the chicken lo mein and said it was bomb. I love Thai Basil! Always hot, fresh and FAST. I usually call and order right before leaving my house, and the food is ready by the time I get there about 10 min later. They are still closed for dine in, but their take out is yummy. I also suggest getting their thai tea to go, they give it to you in a huge container ( the same plastic container you use to pack up leftover curry). I ask for it without ice and then add ice and extra milk when I get home and I can drink it for days. So good! read more

Red curry with scallops was not as I expected it to be; most of the time it's more broth. This was a thick curry sauce that gradually solidified as I finished. Chiles were dumped out of a pot of chili oil and the shrimp was fried with its breading melting off into the soup. Green curry again Thai hot was an overly sweet curry devoid of any green color. No eggplant, peppers, thai basil or any traditional vegetables just a slew of onions and raw mild jalapenos. Yet another example of the bland, inauthentic ethnic food found in the Northside suburbs. Perfect compliment to the bland, inauthentic suburban wasteland that exists just minutes from the city. Visited for the first time around 6pm in August 6th - we were seated right away, our server came by, took our drink orders and brought them out promptly. She was attentive but wasn't hovering over us, which I greatly appreciated. I ordered the Sesame tofu and my boyfriend ordered the Tofu Lo mein. Our food came out quickly and was hot. Lo mein was not spicy (but they offer sriracha so no big deal), my sesame tofu was the perfect mix of sweet / sour and spice. Overall, we enjoyed our meals! I would say that this restaurant is a mixture of Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai dishes - I personally don't mind! This review takes into consideration that we are in Thornton.... and that this is the same Thai Basil that is famous in Denver. Yesterday we decided that we we're going to go out for dinner and that definitely we wanted Thai. So like all other residents of the Denver area that are "in the know", this means we are going to Thai Basil. I logged into Yelp because I have a new GPS unit and wanted to see how it would route me down to the Wash Park area location... and I see this entry for a Thai Basil in Thornton ( my eyes bug out at this point ). I do the double check on the Thai Basil website and yes.... it's true they have opened a new location North on 120th. We are definitely going to this one.... We arrive at 6pm ( we are early diners ) and there was one table that had been sat... all others we're open and we were greeted and seated right away. I did read a review in which a yelper complained about the seating and size of the venue, but to me... the restaurant was the perfect size ( a sign on the wall proclaims max occupancy is 32). This size ensures that the kitchen is not going to be distracted or over burdened. The chairs are large and the tables are at a nice height. I am 6'0, 270lbs, and I did not feel crowded at all.... I'm not sure why the complaint was made by the other yelper, but if you have ever been to Snooze on Colorado... you'll feel like this establishment is extremely spacious! The service was lighting fast and the Thai Iced Tea was on the table almost as fast as I could say "thai iced tea please". Our server was quick to take our order and during the time that we arrived and ordered, they had sat half of the tables. By the time we had finished our soup, the entire place was at capacity and folks were now waiting patiently at the fron for their turn to dine at the Denver legend in the Thornton hinterlands. So word is out on the northside that Thai Basil is here, so be prepared for a little wait if you don't get there early enough. the food was stellar! The qulaity of the ingredients was top notch. The portions were large and at the prices they are charging it's an unbelievable value. I would have expected to pay about 11-13 for my entree but was only charged 8.95. The quality and the taste is exactly what you would expect at the original Thai Basil location, so this location is a 5-star rating for me. We no longer have to make the trek south to enjoy this outstanding fare. We no longer have to defend ourselves to the hipsters who question our decision to live on the North Side any longer. All we have to say is... " Come meet us for Thai at Thai Basil on 120th!!". Don't forget to go toColdstone creamery right next door! What a perfect ending to some spicy Thai Basil.
