After spending two days at a resort and eating more polished food, we were craving something rustic and down-to-earth -- and this place was perfect. I ordered the **Root Bowl**, and it was delicious -- I could really taste the earthy, fresh flavors. The veggies were super fresh, and the food kept us full all the way back to Seattle! The service was great and the ambiance was lovely -- they have a small patio with string lights, and surrounded by the fall colors, it felt magical. My 8-year-old tried some of their **cookies**, which were equally good, and they even gave her an **extra one** -- such a sweet touch! The only downside was that the portions were a bit small; for our group of three, we added the **kimchi fried rice** to share. Jupiter is an Excellent Casual Meal spot with unique flavors! Note: you order at the counter then grab a seat. (You gather own water, silverware and bus yourself.) After all your work, however you are rewarded by Amazing flavors - unique fresh creations at Jupiter! Out of our two meals, hands down, the South bowl with tempeh was simply outstanding! I even had a protein ' Community bowl' with pulled pork and my favorite, a delicious chimchurri sauce!? ( also tasty as heck!) While this is a casual spot, its patio is perfect to unwind after a long day of hiking. We loved this spot so much, we dined in for dinner 2 nights in a row. Every item we ordered hit the spot and was SO FRESH! Naan Tacos- chicken and pork both amazing. Totally unique on the naan bread. Fried Rice Protein Plus- 11/10 my favorite! Comes with tender pulled pork and this sriracha aioli that is to die for BBQ Pork Fries- talk about loaded. My mouth is watering just thinking about them. We loved the wide variety of vegetarian and vegan options! We ordered the Vegan Nacho Fries and the South Bowl with Avocado Cilantro Lime dressing. The vegan nachos were fresh and crisp with. Yummy vegan queso and soy chorizo. It also had kimchi topping that gave it a tang and some heat. The South Bowl with baked tofu packed a punch of health with a lot flavor. Tofu has a lot of flavor and is one of the best baked tofus I've ever had! This bowl has a lot of food so I would recommend sharing it out planning to take extra home (unless you've been hiking all day- then you might want it all!). We also got a peanut better cookie with miso. It tasted like a peanut butter cookie but with a bit more depth to the flavor profile. Food was quick to come out, and everything was awesome! We loved getting both healthy and flavorful options for dinner! They have indoor and outdoor patio seating. Both are nice and offer lovely views of the mountains around. There is a set of stairs required to get into the venue. They did run out of tempeh toward closing, so if you are wanting a particular item make sure you go in early! read more

One of our favorite places to eat in Winthrop for lunch. We ate here in November and remembered enjoying the food, so it was our first meal (we came back 2x) on a recent trip back to the Methow Valley. My son and I both had the same entrees for our first meal this trip...he had the fried rice with spicy pork, I had the tacos with chicken tinga. Husband had the kale bowl (new), and we all shared the furikake fries (also new). We went back again with friends since I wanted them to try the furikake fries... had a small salad with the chicken tinga, it was a 1/2 size, but was quite large! We also tried the chocolate cardamom roll, that was so good! I ordered a blue berry and lemon scone as well, which was shared with everyone. The scone was ok, the chocolate cardamom roll was a lot better and won everyone over! Pros- tasty food that is mostly healthy- depending on how you order! Good bakery items as well. Reasonable prices and relatively fast service once food is ordered (order at the counter and take your number to your seat/table) Cons- it's tucked away, so it could be hard to find. Best food available in Winthrop hands down. My husband and I stopped by post 11 mile hike in the cascades and this food hit the spot. We both got the naan tacos (shiitake tempe and pulled pork). Both plates came out quickly and were delicious! The dessert options were vast and the s'mores cookie was delicious. Not dry, and good amount of chocolate. One of the few places in town that's open midweek, so we ended up coming in for dinner and again the next morning for coffee. At first when my husband found them online and mentioned vegan/vegetarian-friendly comfort food, I envisioned heavy mac and cheese and fried foods. We were both very pleasantly surprised to find fresh grain bowls and the like instead. I had the southwest bowl (brown rice, black beans, steamed kale, pickled cabbage, pickled red onion, pickled jalapenos) which had a hefty kick to it and was exactly what I was hoping to find. Except for the kale which required a lot of destemming before eating. That's a personal pet peeve of mine. Note to restaurants: NO ONE LIKES THE STEMS. Thank you. My husband got the mushroom noodles (udon, shiitakes, bok choi, pickled jalapenos, and I think a sesame sauce). It was tasty but pretty basic. We've replicated it a couple times at home since then, so it was good inspiration. We each ordered a glass of wine of which they have a few available. Most wines on their menu are by the bottle, so I didn't get my first pick, but the rose I had was perfect for a warm evening. Can't say much about service because there isn't really any. Order at the counter and they'll drop your food off at your table for you, then you bus your dishes afterwards. Large patio was lovely, but the door constantly slamming as staff enter and exit was really annoying and jarring. None of these things would prevent my returning for good, clean food! read more

Jupiter is a great find in the heart of Winthrop. I love their health-conscious, ethical farm-to-table table concept, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. We had the Garlic Fries (yum!) and each ordered a the Roasted Roots bowl with Smokey Tempeh. I chose the roasted Jalapeño Cream Sauce and my husband chose the Miso Sesame Ginger sauce. Both were so flavorful, perfectly seasoned, with interesting and complex flavors. They had a wide selection of beverages and an impressive dessert display. Also the staff could not be sweeter! They have a nice deck out front with some pretty barn lights and would imagine it would be the perfect spot to sit out in warmer weather. Don't come to Winthrop without eating here. Food is fresh, healthy and delicious. We devoured the sweet potato fritters that were recommended by the person taking our order. They were so good!! I enjoyed the wonderful arugula salad with farro and beets and hubby had the naan and pulled pork tacos. We also shared a fresh baked cookie. We also appreciated the self service iced water table that they have. Clean, friendly staff, efficient and prompt service. This is a very cute spot with a nice shaded deck with a great view of the street and little town for people watching. The menu has a variety of items. We ordered a salad, the peanut noodles and some tacos. I really liked the salad, it was big and crunchy and light. The noodles had a heavy hand of peanut sauce (I wish I ordered it on the side). I was blown away by this place. Winthrop is a place that looks like a small Western town movie set. This health food (depending on what you get) vibe kinda place doesn't really fit the mold but it was AWESOME. Get the kimchi yam fritters. They were so good that we ate this place twice in the same day. Pulled pork and chicken tinga both tasty on their own. They have this aardvark hot sauce (that you can apparently buy online) as well as other hot sauces. The aardvark one was great with the meat. Furikake fries had excellent sauce that is similar to the one for the fritters. The greens / bowls were yummy as well. I am sad knowing that I probably won't find a similar kimchi yam fritter dish for years though. One of my favorite random finds for restaurants. They also have online ordering. Was not expecting how good this place would be. I am a huge fan of bowls and salads. Everything was amazing and we went back like 3-4x in our week long trip. I loved the jackfruit torta which comes with a good amount of salad on the side. The staff were friendly and had good recommendations. I like that they don't require busing your own table but options if you want to do it ( it'll help them in busy times). I think it's a cool concept. This is a hidden gem! Sits in the trees with wonderful indoor and outdoor seating. Once inside, staff is welcoming and educated about the menu. Ordered the naan tacos and they did not disappoint. Jupiter is a sort of counter-culture place where you order from the counter and eat either inside or outside on the large deck. We chose to eat inside because the band on the deck was so loud. We were there on an unusually hot day and we were disappointed that there is no detectable air conditioning and no ice in the water urn. The menu is interesting to say the least. I had a Japanese style noodle dish that really tasted good. My wife had pulled barbecued pork over waffle fries. She liked it. There is a case with pastries and we had some shortbread cookies and a piece of Irish Cream coffee cake. We went for dinner after a 10k hike. Oh my god. I'm still writing the review with endorphins flowing. Just tucked into a Korean Combo and I've never had tempeh as good as this. Smoked and unbelievably delicious. The whole bowl is an umami bomb with a poached egg and what seems to be home made kimchi. I walked in looking forward to this food. I'm leaving with a goofy grin slapped across my face drunk on hot sauce and a nice Black Raven Trickster IPA. Great work Jovians! read more
