Our server came promptly and got our beverages quickly. After that, not so good. Our food took longer than we thought it would, since the kitchen wasn't busy. After it arrived, we were very disappointed. The burger was well-done instead of medium, and had cheese, which was NOT asked for. The "TOTS" that seem to be a popular item tasted like Ore Ida tater tots, were cold, and there was no condiment service (salt/pepper) on the table. Carnitas tacos. Hmmm. I expected the corn shells to be crunchy, but they were moist, and the filling was a drab lump of something gray. Cold as the tots. We just ate because we didn't have the time to wait for 2 meals to be recooked. Sorry, but we'll enjoy other local eateries in town.

Relaxed, comfy space that's the antithesis of more corporate-feeling outfits with the same target audience. Parking can be tough at times, but there are free spaces on the street and in the lot to its right that also includes underground spaces. -- Buffalo Wings: Offered in 1- and 2-pound portions, with a steep price for the 1-pound and a steep drop in per-pound price for the 2-pound. My small order had 8 pieces with a very thin coating of Buffalo-ish sauce-- not as spicy or as vinegary, but reasonably piquant and tangy. Not much crisp, but extremely plump and juicy chicken meat underneath. So a mixed bag of flavor and texture, but overall, good. -- True West Burger: Sort of a thick burger, sort of a brioche bun (closer to a better, fresher McDonald's), with vegetation significant part of it. Choice of cheese. Cooked to my requested medium rare, yielding juices. Overall, good burger for its class, though for $22, maybe it should be compared with classier ones. -- Fries (included with the burger): Frozen, somewhat artificial tasting, and a coating of some sort that held in the heavy dose of salt (like pretzel sticks), as if salted even before frying. -- Beers: Plenty of styles and plenty within each style to choose from. I really enjoyed my peachy Pit and Peel New England IPA and liked the Ruckus as well. Service was outstanding. My server Mariana was outgoing, very familiar with both the food and drink offerings, and checked back often. This was probably the determining factor for this tossup between 3 and 4 stars getting nudged to the 4. If it were an option, more of a 3.5. And if you're similarly torn, having some of the best ice cream in the state a few doors down afterward at Westside Creamery might tip the scale for you (literally and figuratively).

Our server was incredibly kind, attentive, and quick! They have a good selection of drinks from alcoholic drinks to mocktails to sodas. The best? The food of course! Everything was amazing. We were happy with all 3. We both devoured the chicken al limone, seriously so good. A delicious lemon sauce with capers and sun dried tomatoes. Yum! The Caesar salad was great. Price is worth it for a scratch kitchen! Highly recommend trying

We got the veggie risotto and the summer grain bowl. We did not get to try any drinks. I wish the risotto was better and it was actually risotto. It was more like cheesy rice with a few starchy vegetables in it. The summer grain bowl was heavy on the arugula and quinoa, and somewhat stingy on the additives (grapes, strawberries and almonds). The staff had a hard time figuring how to take my payment, though were very nice and apologetic about it. No napkins or eating utensils were included in our take out bag. Perhaps if we came in the late afternoon, we would have had a better experience. I really wanted to like them. We would be open to another opportunity to try it.

Still, I only got to two of the places. Since I already went to Downeast recently I wanted to try Far From The Tree in Salem. But with an itinerary that defied the laws of physics I had to cross off some spots and I'm grateful that Downeast mixed it up with new seasonal offerings and non-store exclusives. The flight started with white peach, a perfect light and summery creation. Then strawberry rhubarb brilliantly deployed a note of earthiness to reduce the sweetness. As for black cherry, to quote Some Kind of Monster, I would delete that one, as it lacked the distinction of its neighbors. But the finale was a success, the proudly non-traditional cider donut, an epic blast of sugar and cinnamon (?).

If you go to the tasting room inside you can get a flight for $15 and they have clean restrooms. It is also cool to see all the cans. Outside they have the pop-up where you can get full pours and enjoy the harbor views. Gotta use porta-potties though. They aren't as bad as they could be though. Service is chill vibes and they are pet friendly with plenty of shades seating.

Even tucked away at the end of a strip mall, it checks all the boxes: great beer, good food, plenty of space, and a fun atmosphere. The food comes from a little food truck outside the building rather than a traditional kitchen, but don't let that fool you, everything I've had has been delicious. My boyfriend is a loyal fan of the Cloud Candy IPA (he'll order it anywhere he sees it on tap), while I can never resist the Daiquiri Hard Smoothie (I forget what it's called, but it's so tasty lol). It's dangerously good... like, "I should probably pace myself, but that's a tomorrow problem" good. The brewery itself has a lot going on. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, a coffee shop tucked in the back, a private event room, and even a rock-climbing gym connected to the building, which makes for a pretty unique setup. If you're lucky, you'll even catch the canning line running while you're there, which is fun to watch and reminds you you're drinking the good stuff straight from the source. Whether you're meeting friends for a beer, hanging out for the afternoon, or introducing someone to craft beer, Mighty Squirrel is a solid choice. I'll definitely keep coming back!
