We interviewed 10 different pool companies before making our decision, and Thunderbird Pools ultimately delivered exactly what we were looking for on time, and on budget! The design process was outstanding from the very beginning. Jeff Hyler (our designer) was incredibly knowledgeable, creative, and professional. During the very first onsite visit, he measured the space and produced an initial design complete with pricing and visual renderings. That immediate concept helped us clearly understand what was possible within our budget and set Thunderbird apart from every other company we interviewed. None of the other vendors offered anything close to the same level of interactive design capability or onsite visualization tools, and it made an excellent first impression. After comparing proposals from multiple pool builders, including pricing, pool size, and features, we ultimately chose Thunderbird Pools because of the quality of the design process, our confidence in the team, the professionalism of the company and staff, and the overall value offered. The showroom in Surprise offered various color options and the designer Jeff was extremely helpful in making selections! Before construction and permitting began, communication was excellent. Once the project started, Joe Hernandez was onsite regularly and did an exceptional job overseeing the subcontractors and maintaining quality control. His experience was obvious, and he consistently paid attention to details, communicated expectations clearly, and kept the project moving efficiently. We always felt confident that the schedule, workmanship, and overall project quality were being managed closely. We were also impressed with the subcontractors Thunderbird used throughout the project. They were skilled, professional, punctual, and worked efficiently according to the company's online schedule and project portal. They never left construction debris when they were done and tried to keep the area very clean. Thunderbird's internal project managers also communicated consistently through phone calls and emails, keeping us informed during each phase of construction. Overall, the company demonstrated excellent organization, communication, and project management from start to finish. Most importantly, the project stayed within our target budget, and the overall construction process went smoothly in the timeline anticipated. After completion, Brandon Thompson handled the equipment startup, testing, and training process. Brandon was outstanding , highly knowledgeable about all the pool systems, thorough in testing functionality, and extremely helpful with maintenance and scheduling recommendations. He not only completed the initial startup and training but also returned multiple times afterward to ensure everything was operating perfectly and to answer any additional questions we had. In the end, the project was completed on time, on budget, and exceeded our expectations. With just a little more upfront clarity regarding owner's site pre-grading responsibilities and protection of existing property during construction, the experience would have been beyond expectations. A lot of re-work for work that was not done correct the first time, messes being left in the yard, and poor communication. Now the cool decking is starting to lift. I notified Thunderbird about this weeks ago and included several pictures. I took the day off work to be here for the concrete company to do the work, two guys showed up, took pictures and left. Something that should have been enjoyable has turned out to be regrettable. Do your research before signing a contract with this company.

Overall picture of pool and the brick on the hot tub overflow…read more  The main point is the overflow from the hot tub. I selected the brick as I thought it would look good. After install there were supposed to be some stainless steel inserts on the sides of the overflow to keep the water directed into the pool and not running off to the sides. They didn't install and "J" said later if I wanted them they would put them on. The water did run off to the sides and I chose to leave it as at that time the chlorinated brick was not noticeable   The problem, which would have been nice as a warning as this was my first pool, was the bleaching and color distortion on the brick. The brick keeps on shaving/chipping off into the pool which is a pain. And if you see the closeup pictures you can see how bad the bleaching is.  I want to have the brick pulled off and replace with tile. Called and told "B" the issue and left a message for Kevin at Caribbean pools on February 24, 2026 to see if they could do it at a discount and I pay for some of it. No call back even to discuss.  You would think with all their "extensive" pool experience, they would have warned me about the brick looking bad after a couple years, I would have gone with tile, which is easier to clean and it would not be falling into the pool constantly. Even during the construction, it took him forever to get crews out here and I had to call quite a few times and then when the company came over to get the pool turned on, it wouldn't work.  Turns out the electrician, that Caribbean used, didn't even hook up the wiring to the controls.  So luckily, there was a person that didn't have anything going on that Saturday and he came out.  And he had to put three wires in about ten feet long each, or so, they get to pool started. Pool was finally operational on April 6, 2021. I had to constantly call and harp on them, to get crews out here and do the work, and then they couldn't even get it started.The brick looks like garbage now so I wouldn't recommend them if they can't even give me straight forward advice or even call me to talk to me about this, give me a little discount or something. We are in our 19th month since we signed an agreement to have his business build our pool in Tonto/Rio Verde, AZ. From the beginning there were all kinds of positive promises and to many "yes we can get'r done soon". But soon after the first check was written came all the excuses why every step of the way were delays. Most of his subs did not show up when expected and then showed up unexpected. All of his 'normal' subs were not responding to him anymore so every sub was a new sub on our job. Every step of the way has been a nightmare. It has taken constant pushing from us to get Bill to do anything. In fact, we are still waiting to have the electrical system programed and the automatic pool cover is still NOT installed. All the subs have had to repair mistakes made during the project delaying every other sub along the way. Bill rarely shows up on the job site and sends his subs to our property without instructions. He does nothing but make excuses for reasons why he can't get the job done. In fact, after we were forced to pay the final installment prior to plaster installation, 6 weeks later we had his plaster subcontractor show up at our door telling us that Money's Worth Pool Construction has not paid him for his completed service. I feel for the plaster constractor and wish him the best at collecting from Bill Griffin. We have given Bill so many chances to correct his mistakes and finish the job, but to no avail he keeps putting us off and won't respond to emails, phone calls and texts any longer. The list of issues is too long to list and amount of frustration is too high to share due to Bill Griffin. We wish we never hired this company. The only recourse we have is to file a complaint with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors, which is what we have done. "DO NOT HIRE MONEY'S WORTH POOL CONSTRUCTION"!

Plus, leaving trash around in our backyard seemed very unprofessional. Bill would stop by on occasion, but having a contractor on the property during construction would most likely have contributed to the efficiency of the build.

It took this report where ROC pointed out clear lack of worksmanship on several aspects of pool constrcution, and several additional visits by ROC for inadequate revisions even after direction by the ROC including revising structural integrity of pool before the issues were even partially addressed. See issues at bottom of report for things that ROC ruled weren't in its purview, but to give you a flavor of what it was like to work with this company and its subcontractors. Broke ground January 2025, pool was supposed to be done April 2025. Settled January 2026. Have since contacted for support, received intermittently by text including on weekends, and was then this past weekend charged without notice (paid).

I had Lumby Concrete put in about 880sf of concrete in my back yard and 50sf at my front door…read more Travis really cares about concrete and takes pride in his work. He is definitely more of an old school contractor, which for me is preferred. He is the one answering the calls, coming out for the bid and is leading the pours and finishes. For me dealing with so many contractors it's nice when you are not routed through dispatchers and given a 5 hour window for a bid. Travis was always on time for bids and the project and wasted no time getting right to it when he came on site. I had 4 other bids for concrete, and Travis was the most knowledgeable and attentive to details by far. He brought up potential issues that he had with my plan and state of the yard, which other contractors didn't mention and I was able to rectify them before he started work. Some people might find that frustrating but I find it a testament to the quality he is committed to leaving behind which is exceedingly rare with contract work. For the actual finished concrete: I'm in awe of the quality and consistency he laid. The concrete is so perfectly sloped, grated and mated against the house and old slabs that when I hose it off it just beads right off completely opposite the house. Cleaning this new concrete is going to be a breeze and I'm excited to enjoy it. I didn't expect the concrete itself to be the cornerstone in the yard, but it is truly a functioning work of art now. The photos attached are after 3 months and everything loo Value: His cost was very reasonable. He was not the cheapest bid but he was certainly not the most expensive. He even put extra material in his invoicing he wasn't sure he would need, and when he ended up not needing that material he removed it from the final bill. His portfolio was beyond everyone else in quality and I'm happy to add to it. He is now my go to concrete guy.
